Best watch I ever owned! I was a long time Fitbit user and am so happy I made the switch to Garmin! My Fenix 7X Saphire Solar is exceptional! Love the amazing features, and the amazing data it tracks! I am just getting to know the full extent of the watch, but I am really impressed and totally excited about discovering all that it can do! Highly recommend this watch for seriously minded athletes and those who wish to stay in shape and keep track of your heart health, sleep and other health related data.

My first Garmin after buying Apple Watch after watch. my biggest gripe was that horrendous battery life!! Also it's so basic and it's just not for me. Enter Fenix 7X!! wow!!! absolutely blown away by the build quality, BATTERY LIFE IS INCREDIBLE, and the features seem endless! the best part is the tracking features available and storage space. Battery life is very good (much better than 5 Plus and it was pretty decent). Touchscreen is very handy, especially with the maps, the built-in flashlight is bright like a cell phone light, the GPS is fast and accurate (I use it on GPS sats only), the built-in HRM seems to be more accurate than the 5 Plus. I also appreciate all the workout metrics it gives me, workout suggestions, weather data (although the storm warning option from the baro has been wrong a couple of times), the altimeter has been very accurate here in the Rocky Mountains. Came from Coros Vertix2 because of ski trails names and colors in the watch and group track.Group track worked for 20 minutes than stopped and never worked again! Battery barely made it true one day of skiing! Worst GPS accuracy I've seen in Garmin so far, my wife's $150 venue SQ Workman much better, see the pictures. Sleep tracking is inaccurate! body battery is a joke! Weather seems to show weather for my home location not my current location despite correct in settings solar charging is a gimmick and it make screen looks small and outdated because of the distance to the bezel. Blood O2 was inaccurate and actually couldn't take a measurement for 3 days straight right whe I was in the mountains. Bought the watch a little over 2 weeks ago and I'm very disappointed!The picture on the box makes the watch seem like it will have very bright and colorful display, nope! Very dull low lit (even with brightness at 100%) display. Could easily compare it to a Casio watch.2nd, basic features do not work ,step tracking and heart rate. I have reached out to Garmin support and they have no clue why it does not work and still have not heard anything back. You would think paying $1000 for watch you could get a nice bright display(like the picture above shows) and could do basic functions but I guess not! Much better off with a galaxy watch 5 pro and have the price!

I have since noticed that as one scrolls through the colors, there is a little color description which doesnt just say the color, it says the 7s type for each color. So, make sure you pay attention to that. The 7s was really pretty and seemed to be as described but I really wanted the extra storage the solar sapphire comes with. It took me 2 days to realize my mistake. As soon as I did, I sent the watch back. I didnt have time to learn all the features. This was my first smartwatch so it was a little overwhelming; it could do so much. It comes with a quick set up guide (I think 16 pages) but not an instruction manual. I'd really like to have raising my wrist turn on the backlight for biking, but if I activate that, when I'm doing martial arts it turns on for every punch. Way to drain the battery.There are some great new features for Training Load and Training Status but it's all focused on biking with a power meter or running outdoors. Pretty much everything else either doesn't get included in training assessment at all (Training Status) or it gets included incorrectly because you can't customize heart rate zones for other activities. Even if you have power for another sport (indoor rowing), you can't set the power zones.The Intensity Minutes feature continues to be badly implemented. It only includes activities recorded with wearables (ie not from an Edge bike computer). But even if you record all your activities with the 7x, it's very unclear how Garmin determines vigorous vs moderate activity. It doesn't seem to take advantage of sport-specific zones (which of course don't exist for most activities anyway).Health Snapshots are a great new feature. But they don't capture HRV or Stress for at least some people. And Garmin Connect doesn't seem to properly sync Health Snapshot history.There's a Fitness Age feature - but it has its own settings for vigorous activity - and of course, those are pretty inaccessible and not sport specific.If you calculate Stress with a chest HRM using the HRV Stress app you get a radically different value than Stress from the wrist based monitor and Health Snapshot. Perhaps this isn't surprising - but HRV Stress only works with a chest HRM and the Health Snapshot only works with the built in wrist HRM. So how do you integrate these? You don't apparently.Sleep? My Fenix 3 only distinguished light vs deep sleep. I had no objective comparison but the results seemed reasonable based on my own sense of my sleep. I was excited that the 7X uses more sophisticated analysis to also determine REM sleep and sleep quality. Well, according to my 7X I pretty much never have deep sleep and almost no REM sleep. My sleep score is poor almost every night. It's amazing I'm still alive. Bummer.Pulse ox? I wasn't expecting too much from this and I recognize a wrist sensor isn't likely to be super accurate. The results however seem decent. However, pulse ox isn't used for much - as far as I can determine, it's mostly used for altitude and heat acclimation. The sleep analysis shows pulse ox and respiration -but it's not clear if either is actually part of any sleep analysis.I was excited about the new Physio True up capability and it does help - but it's still very limited, especially if any of your devices are older. My bike computer is an Edge 520. Since it doesn't have the more sophisticated training calculations it's not clear how it integrates into the true ups. It seems that I'll need to record my biking activities on my watch, and save those, and discard the edge recordings - using them only while I'm riding.Menu structure - as always with Garmin, a mess. Settings for Glances (what used to be called widgets) are in an appearance menu but settings for Activities and Faces are in their own menu. Settings for various things are scattered in even more places than before - multiple menu systems on the watch, some in Garmin Connect under each device, some in Garmin connect in your account or profile, some in Garmin Connect somewhere else. Good luck remembering where they all are.Setting data fields in activities from the phone? Sort of. For CIQ apps, you have to go to Connect IQ Store, pick your device, then go to my device, then find the app to change the settings. For built in apps, you do it through Garmin Devices menu (again, that doesn't work for CIQ - those are accessed through the store). Took me a while to figure that out. On the positive side, doing it all from the watch is much easier than it used to be using touch screen.Garmin Connect access to all the new information? Phone app is decent. Web - not so much. The entire Performance submenu seems to be totally absent on the web version of GC. And some of the Health features (like Health Snapshot) result in a no such page error in the browser. Bad link ? Really Garmin?Conclusion: the 7X is certainly a great improvement over my Fenix 3 -but would I upgrade from a 5 or 6? If I were you, I'd wait.

However, I believe I have a faulty unit for several reasons:-The solar intensity is no longer working properly; even when in full California sun the amount is not increasing as it did over previous similar days. I run and work outside for at least 3 hours per day. For example, today it increased 0.1 lux while sitting in direct sun for 10 minutes (with the watch purposefully directed at the sun)-I have also noticed my stress level is extremely low (0-5), when more typically it would be around 10-25 in similar situations in recent days. I have a 6 Pro on my opposite wrist that is consistently registering around 10-25 while the 7X is reading 0-2. I also completed a software upgrade today from version 7.20 to version 7.24, but this has not fixed the issues. I am disappointed that I appear to have a faulty device. I give the product a 1-star, but thanks to REIs return policy I will be returning the product and sticking with my 6 Pro. I would advise avoiding a new product such as the Fenix 7 until some time has passed for Garmin to work out the bugs and implement the proper software updates. This will spare you the time and energy I have wasted on trying to correct the issues on my unit.
The watch is exceptional! I upgraded to this watch from a garmin approach 60, which worked great, but the features on this watch are top notch, battery life is unbelievable and probably a 500% difference. The screen features and all other upgrades are incredible. Yes the watch is three times the cost but it does 10 times the job. I couldn’t be more satisfied, especially since getting the best price from Play Better, no one can compete with the price!
A watch that gives me 400 active calories for a 10 min shower (or better yet, 500 active calories for 30 mins of sitting and reading) is absolutely useless as a "fitness" watch. A 45 min run gets me about 1,200 active calories!. If I was naive enough to believe this watch and fuel accordingly, I'd be about 450lbs in a month.Add to that, the sleep tracker is a joke - it has me in "deep sleep" while getting ready for bed!I have no idea how something this poor ever made it to market, but the idea that it's $700+ is a true affront to any consumer since it's only good as a paper-weight,You may be thinking - well, what did customer service say?? They have entirely failed to respond to my request for assistance with this. I've heard horror stories about their CS, but decided to go back to Garmin (from Coros) anyway. What a huge mistake that was.Sad too - because I loved (love) my VivoActive 3... but as an ultra-runner, the battery would just not suffice. I guess it will have to now - and I'll go back to carrying a battery charger in my vest... because this fenix 7X Solar is going in the trash can.
