I honestly love the Garmin products. I purchased this because the delta was not enough for my pup. The change in levels from low to high too significant. But with the sport pro it works amazing. It is able to grab the attention of the dog more efficiently. I use my 550 pro and the sport pro and I honestly can’t say enough on how amazing it is. My pup was extremely submissive, and afraid of everything. But I was able to grab the attention I needed with the collar and work through the distractions with ease. This is a bit cheaper than the 550 but will say that the sport pro is effective for those who have a difficult time working with other systems

I cannot say enough good about the collar and remote function and design. Its easy to use and works flawlessly once you figure out the right collar fit for your dog.The same cannot be said for the jumble of crap that they call a charging system. In a world of USB C, wireless, and simplified charging Garmin has chosen to use a spaghetti pile of 3 (yes 3) separate short USB Mini B cords and proprietary charging connections to accomplish the caveman task of charging both the handheld and collar device at the same time.I will buy this again, or whatever the equivalent is someday because the product works, but for gods sake Garmin, unify your charging system please. Product initially worked well. Combination of tone, vibration, and shock works well for training. My golden retriever responded well. Unfortunately the second time I went to charge the collar, the connection between the collar and the charger would not make contact. I chatted with cabelas and asked if they could send me a new charger dongle and they said I wanted that option I would need to work directly with Garmin. They gave me the option to return by mail, but I didn't want to be without the collar for that long. Instead I drove to the store to exchange it but they did not have the model available in the store. I returned it at the store and ordered a replacement on line. Once the replacement arrives, I am hoping I just got a lemon.

Collar lasted about 3 weeks before loosing connection with remote. Would not deliver shock, even thought the remote and collar would both light up. I was told this is a common failure, where the collar looses connection with remote. I don't understand how Garmin can justify what they charge for this sub par product. Ruined my hunting trip to Canada because it would not deliver shock and I had to leave the dog back at camp. Garmin customer service was terrible to deal with, gentlemen I dealt with was very rude. Do better Garmin.
Used PROPERLY this e-collar is indispensable for use in dog training across many different disciplines. A thorough understanding in the use of the collar is mandatory for best results. Not for amateurs or those unwilling to receive proper instruction in the use of the collar. The transmitter is intuitive in it's intended use. The range of the collar is very good and the response is outstanding. Highly recommend it for those who have good knowledge of the proper use of this training collar.
What I like best about this product is the color coded switch that easily identifies the receiving collar. We have (2) dogs and not having to think about which button to hit to make sure I am correcting the misbehaving one is great! Also am a big fan of the "vibrate" command. Our "cowdogs" mixed breed responds much better to vibration stimulus than the "shock" (and no, it is not a pain intolerance it is just her nature), while our Pyrenees cross responds to the "shock" better. There is lots of adjustment in the level of stimulus, levels 1-3 are hardly noticeable (yes, we tried them out on our arms) so our minimum response level is at 3-4. So if you have a sensitive dog this collar should still work well for you. Other awesomeness is the auxiliary light that can be ... Love that when the dogs are out at night away from the house and we cannot see them. We have not used the Bark limiter as it is not an issue for our dogs. I also appreciate that the controller can be in a locked position so I can put it in my pocket without worrying that I will send stimulus to my dogs inadvertently. Have not checked the range, for me if I cannot see my dogs they are too far away! But we have sent corrections from ~200yards and have gotten response. Overall very pleased with this product, now to test the longevity...
We bought theses for our family dogs that also pheasant hunt. They get used every day, twice a day just for walk around our local park, on the weekends get used up to three times a day, for several hours on end. During hunting trips they are used up to 6 hours at a time twice a day, and we have never had issues! One collar we have had for going on 8 years the other about 3 1/2. Notice they do lose shock strength if they are running low on battery but once charged work great again! They have good range and have been a game changer for hunting and over all training with the dogs!
A decent e-training unit that could be so much better. The toggle lever to switch between different collars is too small to use with gloves. Also, the add-on collars should be offered with red and blue straps because of the toggle switch location on the Pro 70 handheld unit. It's much easier to switch from the top location for the black collar all the way down to the bottom location for the red collar. Trying to stop in the middle location for the blue collar while watching and handling hard charging bird dogs is a PITA.Also, the thumb wheel for the intensity levels would be more usable if it was larger because again it's hard to use in the field while wearing gloves. Also, get rid of the momentary stimulus feature and the extra button. If I want to 'nick' a dog for a brief correction, it's not hard to do with just the continuous stimulation feature - just quickly push the button and release it. Without the second button for nick, the continuous button could be made slightly larger and easier to use when your eyes are on the dog where they must be, instead of on the handheld unit.Another complaint - why isn't a detachable lanyard included for the handheld units like it was with the older Tri-tronics units? Maybe because it might cost Garmin an extra dollar, and in today's modern world it's all about the bottom line. That's why the great Tri-tronics products are now made in China instead of AZ USA.Speaking of cheap, Garmin should hire some competent tech writers that actually use their products in the field, not just ones that understand the high tech whiz-bang features of the units. While the technology used in the Tri-tronics dog collars is great, their user manuals SUCK! I have a couple of Tri-tronics dog units and some of their GPS units, as well. However, the Garmin owner's manuals are LOUSY!! And in some cases totally wrong. Case in point: the instructions in my Pro 70/PT10 owner's manuals for adding an additional collar to communicate with the handheld unit is 100% WRONG! Yeah, if you go to the confusing and hard to use Garmin website, you can eventually find the revised and corrected instructions for setting up the Pro 70 to recognize an additional PT10 collar. But the consumer shouldn't have to go thru all the hassle just because some techie at Garmin can't properly vet and proof read their owner's manuals before they publish them.
I use this collar on my GSP when outdoors off-leash. The connectivity is spotty. Sometimes when I push a button on the remote I get a red light, meaning it cannot make a connection with the collar. This is happening when the dog is in range and the collar is fully charged. When it's working it's great, but a remote/collar system with unreliable connectivity is dangerous. When I need it to work I NEED it to work. I would not recommend this product. At this price point the product should work consistently.
this is better than i imagined. so good, i purchased another for my neighbor to use. was familiar with the criticism about using these kinds of devices and thus, reluctant. however, when nothing else worked to get my 80# english lab's attention, this did. in 7 months, i have used it 4 times. 3 of those in the first week. only once was a shock required. the garmin has both a vibration and tone button alternative. he responds to both. being off leash in a park environment works better for him and me. well made and intuitively designed. the battery holds a long charge. easy to recharge using a laptop. no problems with him swimming in the creek while wearing the collar
