I've utilized Garmin products for dog training for a long time. I misplaced the remote for a pro sport unit that I had for approximately 10 years. I decided to upgrade to the latest version. The initial unit I received from the Amazon seller was faulty. Garmin's customer service promptly addressed the issue. The new unit is essentially identical to what I had been using for around 10 years. The PT 10 collar appears slightly smaller than my old PT6, and my setter tolerates it well. I also bought the new clip-on carabiner accessory, so maybe I won't misplace this remote.

I am very pleased with this collar, which serves both as an E collar for training and a bark collar. It effectively detects throat vibrations when my dog barks, allowing it to automatically correct him during unnecessary barking sessions in the backyard. After just a few days of use, he significantly reduced his random barking, and we never had to exceed level 2. This collar allows me to focus on my dog while managing the remote and leash. It's straightforward to operate, and my dog trainer, who recommended several brands including Garmin, decided to get one himself after I tried this model. If you're new to e-collars, the instructions can be confusing, so I advise consulting a professional trainer before use.

I had the tritronics version of this collar from 2008. Unfortunately it stopped working and I got this as a replacement. Is it very similar? Yes. Am I happy with it? Not fully.Love the light function, we joke our girl turns her headlights on at night.We have a lab but the prongs were not contacting her well when we needed it due to her double coat. So we bought after market wings. They have helped quite a bit.I charge the collar every other day or else she stops listening.We are on our second receiver as there were connectivity issues as soon as we opened the box.I love the vibrate and tone. Spent all summer training, and over 30 days hunting with this collar. It does everything I need trouble free. This collar has extras, that I did not think I would use, that I found very helpful. The headlights make keeping track of the dog at night very easy. The Vibrate and Buzz functions are a great way to give silent commands in the field as to not spook birds. Long Battery Life also.
I bought this collar this morning, charged it in my truck on my way home, and had it on my hound/gsp mix 9 month old puppy this afternoon. My dog has picked up on the training quickly. I like the ergonomics of the remote, I took my dog for a walk and was able to run the controls without looking at them and was able to know exactly what I was pushing. I also like the light feature on the collar. I was able to take my dog for an evening walk off leash in our rural neighborhood and see him just fine. We bumped into a herd of elk and I was able to control him with a quick voice command and a tone for him to return to me. Totally happy with this purchase. It gives me confidence to let my hound explore and do hound things without having to worry about him getting into ... A decent e-training unit that could be so much better. The toggle lever to switch between different collars is too small to use with gloves. Also, the add-on collars should be offered with red and blue straps because of the toggle switch location on the Pro 70 handheld unit. It's much easier to switch from the top location for the black collar all the way down to the bottom location for the red collar. Trying to stop in the middle location for the blue collar while watching and handling hard charging bird dogs is a PITA.Also, the thumb wheel for the intensity levels would be more usable if it was larger because again it's hard to use in the field while wearing gloves. Maybe because it might cost Garmin an extra dollar, and in today's modern world it's all about the bottom line. That's why the great Tri-tronics products are now made in China instead of AZ USA.Speaking of cheap, Garmin should hire some competent tech writers that actually use their products in the field, not just ones that understand the high tech whiz-bang features of the units. While the technology used in the Tri-tronics dog collars is great, their user manuals SUCK! I have a couple of Tri-tronics dog units and some of their GPS units, as well. However, the Garmin owner's manuals are LOUSY!! And in some cases totally wrong. Case in point: the instructions in my Pro 70/PT10 owner's manuals for adding an additional collar to communicate with the handheld unit is 100% WRONG! Yeah, if you go to the confusing and hard to use Garmin website, you can eventually find the revised and corrected instructions for setting up the Pro 70 to recognize an additional PT10 collar. But the consumer shouldn't have to go thru all the hassle just because some techie at Garmin can't properly vet and proof read their owner's manuals before they publish them.

I bought this about a year ago and initially was pleased with the Garmin Sport Pro. But I soon found out that the increasing stimulation function of the no-bark feature does NOT have the safety feature to prevent a dog from being stimulated if it vocalizes from a stimulation--it becomes a vicious circle of bark-stim-vocalize-stim-vocalize-stim... It is unconscionable to not have a safety feature with an automatically rising stim level.Since then, I have had the occasional experience of my dog seeming to ignore the ecollar, which has become more frequent. Recently I discovered that although the receiver lights up when the button on the receiver is pressed, it may not deliver stim for levels 1-6.
