The striker 7 is a good compact fish finder if that is all you need. The striker series has clear images and easy to use fish finding capabilities with several view options. Out of the box it is easy to set up and comes with a nice set of instructions. Its limitations come with its inability to upload maps and only use internal chart plotting without the ability to connect to garmin active captain to link shared chart plotting. The price point is good especially when on sale and this unit pairs perfectly with smaller craft like kayaks.

It's a very simple device to install with only two wires. Perfect for a day out on the river and I love the imaging capabilities for seeing fishing hotspots. I'll be looking into even more advanced models in the future with Garmin.

As a matter of fact I just installed it just this morning. The instructions were easy to follow and the mounting it was an ok process. There wasn't a "Easy Start" manual with it, but after 10 minutes of pressing a few menu buttons, and reading the screen prompts, I have it ready to go play on the Missouri river. It's a lesser expensive unit but I like all the features on this unit, as the river changes every years so must my routes, new fishing structures and fish holes so the route/Chart feature is great and you can edit the route as needed. Great feature !!With our river changing, I can use the return chart and not have any trouble issues with sand bars or newly formed boat danger structure with the chart Maker feature. If it came with a manual I'd of gave 5 ... MoreAs a matter of fact I just installed it just this morning. Garmin always makes a superior product. Ive used their Avaition and marine electronics since 2001. You cant go wrong! Ive never had a breakdown. Ive just installed this and am excited to try it out in the water.
I have owned this for around 6 months now and haven’t had any issues. Only reason for the lower stars is because I wish the contour mapping would stay on and not turn off after you turn the device off. Everything else about the device is good. Looks good and feels quality. If you are having issues with it reading at high speeds make sure your transducer is adjusted properly.
The sonar is great, lots of features that take a long time to learn. But the user interface is easy to learn and very intuitive. I didn’t do enough research, I thought GPS meant maps, but not on this unit. Bummer. But my old Lowrance Elite 5 has maps and a Navionics chip which I added years ago, so I just left that unit in the boat without a transducer for my GPS, trails, tracks, MOB, etc. Works but it would be nice to have everything in one unit. If you want just a depth / fish finder with tons of sonar features, this a good option.
Used for subsurface structure and depth mostly in a river environment .Mounting instructions were OK but were more applicable to a fiberglass boat. My boat is an aluminum jet boat. Exceeded my expectation in high speed operation. Showing depth, speed and water temp. All sales personnel at stores like Cabelas said it would not provide that information unless I was off plane. They were wrong.
Vivid 4cv was brought on a Canadian wilderness trip. I used an 8ah lithium battery. I never had to charge the fish finder. It was at 13.2v at the beginning, ending at 12.7V over an 8-day trip. The mapping feature is awesome for uncharted waters, which I was on. It is very easy to use.
Took it out for its maiden voyage on my home lake last week. Within a few minutes I was marking fish accurately right on a **** break. This is an essential tool on my new kayak I am very pleased with the GPS and quick draw map feature. Kevin and the team at My Green Otdoors are amazing to deal with and have earned my business again and again. Thanks you guys for a great experience and for providing this amazing product!
Very poor quality cheap plastic.Don’t think it will last 2 years.Impossible to see anything on the screen when you’re looking at it. You need binoculars to look at it 2 feet away .Can’t adjust it no matter what mode to see any fish . Depth indicator doesn’t change when you move boat . Very very unimpressed with this one and the 4cv l got at the same time. Wish I could get my $500.00 back .If you’re looking for a fish finder that works and is easy to use this is not it !!! They are junk .. Bought these to replace my old units that were on there for 18 years and worked so great.
