I've had this watch for a month now and used it primarily for hiking and running. Expensive? Yep. Worth the price? I say yes. Why? I upgraded from Fenix 5, so many features were familiar, but the 7X adds the Body Battery and Pulse OX functions, among others. You can customize (pretty much endlessly), including the touch screen function to be on or off, or on or off during particular activities. Didn't think I'd like it at all, but I do - makes the maps in particular easier to navigate. Love the flashlight feature, particularly the red light option (used it at night for star gazing to preserve night vision). The watch interface is a great improvement - a ton of info on the watch face, with the "Glance" ("Widgets" on the 5) customizable, as are all of the colors. ... MoreI've had this watch for a month now and used it primarily for hiking and running. Finally, the battery life is pretty amazing, as advertised - in my experience the solar feature seems to keep you from losing any battery life when you otherwise would, not adding to the charge, but my solar testing conditions haven't been the best. There's a first-thing-in-the-morning summary of sleep, recovery, preparation for exercise, calendar events and weather, complete with a little life-affirming quote (maybe sappy, but I like it) - like everything else with this watch, you can turn this on or off. The logarithms (no different for this watch than any other Garmin model), aren't the most accurate - Recovery Time in particular is vastly overstated; others have written articles about this, but that's not a dig on this watch (and frankly, I'm amazed that they're brave enough to try and estimate that at all and come as close as they do). If the watch got lost or broken would I buy it again? Yes, and quickly. Would I recommend it to a friend? Assuming they could afford it, yes, without reservation. I have tried pretty much every brand of performance watch at one time or another. This is my favorite, by far. Christmas is coming - tell Santa.

I was a longtime user of the Fenix 5x plus - and wore it almost every day for 4 years. The watch performed admirably across multiple events and environments. Wear and Tear led me to upgrading my watch, and I couldn't be happier. The user interface does leave a bit to be desired in terms of navigation, but once you've acclimated, the features, functionality and usage make the watch an independent fitness tracker and coach, without the need to rely on on a distracting phone. The solar functionality is great, and the software has been significantly improved. By far the most pleasant introductions are the morning summaries and body battery - quick, actionable glances to prep me for my day or close down the old day. Suggested workouts are also a welcome approach. ... MoreI was a longtime user of the Fenix 5x plus - and wore it almost every day for 4 years. Got this as a birthday present for myself since i’ve always wanted to have a built-quality rugged everyday use smartwatch and this is the very first smartwatch i have ever own and i am glad that i’ve waited a long time. Before purchasing it, I did my research and watched so many reviews on YouTube before making my final decision. To be honest, I was going to buy the Apple Watch Ultra but i’m glad that i didn’t because to me, the built quality is excellent! I was already drawn to this watch as if i’m meant to own this. Sure, the screen is not crystal clear like those Amoled or OLED. Although it would be nice to have them but for what it’s built for, i don’t think i need a beautiful Amoled screen. I really appreciate this watch for the way it is. This will be a cool everyday use for me whether i’m at the gym, work, running, hiking, camping, attending occasional parties or events, traveling, or pretty much anywhere.

Watch is super comfortable on the wrist. I literally wear it 24/7 except when I take a shower. (This watch is completely waterproof up to 100m so I don't have to take it off, but I'm like that)The reason I got a Garmin over something like an Apple Watch is because the Apple Watch thing is completely redundant with a phone at hand. The Garmin's offer a lot of features that my phone can't do in tough environments, like the topographic maps for example.Battery life is insane. They advertise 28 days but I find it to be slightly less with factory settings. Like 23-24 days which is still ridiculous. It's expensive yes, but the cost is a multi variant equation. Every feature they add increases the cost. Considering it can do everything from HR and stress monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, every training regimen under the sun, topographic maps and full GPS capability, absurd battery life, titanium bezel and sapphire glass, and much more; I say the price is warranted. Now here's hoping this will last me many years.
I upgraded from a garmin 935 and found the new features and accuracy to be a huge improvement. I also own a Samsung galaxy 5 pro. I wanted something very durable (sapphire and titanium), new metrics, reliable metrics, better battery, amoled display, etc. A big selling feature for me on this watch was also the new heart rate sensor. On all prior watches ive owned the optical sensor has been unreliable having random heart rate spikes during mild to no activity. I had to result to a heart rate monitor strap on even easy runs to avoid wrong zones being recorded (zone 1 vs random z4 or 5 errors). After almost a month of daily use from running to cycling to gym work- i can say this sensor is very accurate with only a couple of brief misreadings or spikes during gym work. ... MoreI upgraded from a garmin 935 and found the new features and accuracy to be a huge improvement. It is able to handle more variation in watch movement due to the new design. I also enjoy the convenient flashlight. The improved readings also provide a better picture of your sleep and training progress. I also appreciate the new hill metrics and heat acclimation factor. Overall, while expensive i am very happy with this purchase and look forward testing it during the fall race season.
This was a gift from my wife a few weeks ago and I love it! I was lukewarm towards smart watches as I'm a long time Rolex fan and battery life on most watches seems to be kind-of short. However, this Fenix 7x Solar provides more tech than I've been able to figure out in 3 weeks, easy to use, all the Garmin map/GPS/Altitude stuff that makes Garmin great; all the health monitoring and a fantastically good battery life, I'm getting somewhere around 25 days of battery charge, at least as best I can tell with it being this new. I like the touch screen functionality, it works but if you accidentally brush up against something the screen isn't activating, it knows when you want to interact with it and otherwise stays on the main screen. I am very impressed with this in the 3 weeks I've had it and still on the learning curve with respect to everything the watch can do. It also easily integrates with my phone and I've added the applicable Garmin apps to match with the watch, just a great smart watch. Oh, it's also waterproof. Great adventure watch!
Garmin finally nails it with the epix Pro. I love the Always On display which is bright and beautiful, now filling all of the screen real estate the same as my fenix 7X. I can go almost two weeks without having to recharge, which is so much better than my Apple Watch Ultra. The Glances are amazing, which make it easy to see all sorts of great information starting with one click and then subsequently scrolling through the Glances such as calendar, weather, stock quotes, notifications, compass, heart rate, etc. The health Glances are especially cool, giving you massive amounts of health metrics at your fingertips from onboard and from the Garmin Connect app on your phone. Data updates are super fast from your smartphone, which is especially important if you use the Calendar Glance. I can't say enough good things about the epix Pro. It ticks virtually every box I have ever wanted in a smartwatch. I only wish there were an easy to use watch face editor.
I recently purchased the Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar - and absolutely love it! I've been using Garmin products for years and have always had good luck with the products and company/customer service - so choosing Garmin over other competitive brands/products was never really a consideration for me. As a multi sport endurance athlete, prior to the Fenix 7X, I wore the FR 935 (and 910XT before that). My FR 935 worked fine - no complaints. I typically train every day so switching from dress watch (Rolex) to sport watch is not ideal. So for quite some time now, I basically wear my Garmin watch every day. (I still love my Rolex and wear it for special/more formal occasions) What attracted me to the Fenix 7X was the sapphire crystal. (I still love my Rolex and wear it for special/more formal occasions) What attracted me to the Fenix 7X was the sapphire crystal. I wanted all the functionality of a multi-sport watch and something that looked like a nice/high-quality watch, as well. (The Gorilla glass holds up pretty well, but after a while, mine started to look a little rough). I was a little concerned about the size and weight of the 7X as compared to my FR 935 (or new FR 955) and did as much research as I could before pulling the trigger. I finally made the decision to go with the 7X Sapphire Solar - and absolutely love it! As a multi-sport watch it's awesome! And, as a nice looking high-quality time piece for my everyday wear - it looks great! I'm not sure if I'll ever use all of the functionality the Fenix has to offer - but that's okay. I'm sure I don't use all of my iPhone, either. As for size and weight, it is slightly larger and heavier than my FR 935 (and the new FR 955), but within a day or two of wearing it and getting used to it - it's not an issue. I wear it all time, including when sleeping. We already know Garmin battery life is amazing so I take it off occasionally to charge it. I'm 6'0'' / 190 lbs. So far, I'm loving my new Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar and would absolutely recommend it. PS. I use the flashlight all the time! Who knew that would be a thing? Good luck - and I hope this information is helpful.
I purchased this 2 months ago replacing my Suunto Ambit 2. This is a big upgrade for sure. Overall I am still learning how to use it. Part of the problem with all new electronics is it has more features that you can use, or realize. So here is a brief overview: Using it for mountaineering, super fast and accurate GPS. Nice to have the maps preloaded. Since the screen is still a watch, you have to learn how to zoom in and out while the screen is locked. The specific screens are totally customizable and thus very helpful but takes a bit of time to set it all up. I so far do not think much of the solar...does not really seem to make much of a difference in battery life. Speaking of the battery, overall really good considering the features that use energy. The specific screens are totally customizable and thus very helpful but takes a bit of time to set it all up. I so far do not think much of the solar...does not really seem to make much of a difference in battery life. Speaking of the battery, overall really good considering the features that use energy. The heart rate monitor is OK, not always correct. At the beginning of a climb I will be working really hard at altitude and it shows a walking heart rate. Over time, and in certain positions, seems to "catch up". I really like the feature of automatically using the map elevation to set the altimeter when starting a climb. Seems like the elevation gain and loss is still dependent on how windy it is, which changes the pressure and thus adds elevation gain.So at present seems to be working well, I am able to use it and customize it, but it does take work to learn and set it up for your liking. My biggest negative is the watch face should be more easy to read, without using the back light. I think this will improve but at present kind of hard if not in bright light. Won't give it 5 stars until I use it for much longer and see if it continues to hold up.
I found the spo2 to be very inaccurate most times it would say im in the low 90s and im really at 98 or 99 garmin needs to really improve the accuracy i know its not a medical device but clsiming a 1-2% accuracy and being off over 5% is ridiculous i bought this watch to replace my fenix 5x plus sapphire which was more accurate than this watch. The solar charging is about as useless as it is on the edge 1040 solar battery had to be charged weekly with only sleep spo2 active and maybe 3 1hr long activities using best accuracy gps settings. At the end of the day i had to return it because the spo2 was too inaccurate and thats kind of a major reason why anybody woukd spend that much money on a good watch. I do love the sapphire watch faces they are basically scratch proof i had my fenix 5x plus sapphire and have slammed it into many sorts of metals and concretes including crashing my bicycle and the watch face remained unscratched over the years that ive had it i wore out a watch band even thats how much i used it. The 7x was just not up to par with the 5x. The toych screen made it a lot easier to use than the 5x however on the 7x you couldnt search for things on the map by typing in a store name or wven filter anything the onky option was show everything nearby then scroll on the map and tap on it which is frustrating cuz it does not load fast at all garmin should enabke you to send locations to the smart watch for navigation same way they do for the car gps units using garmin smartphone link or include a way to search in the connect app as they now allow you to use ur phone keyboard to type in what you want on the watch or enable a search field. I may buy it again.
