Gillette King C Double Edge Safety Razor

Gillette have been making "safety razors" like this for generations. I first learned to shave with one back in the dim and distant sixties. I had recently been using plastic disposables, but I'm so pleased to have returned to this classic item. You won't get a closer shave than this delivers. As I've reached that stage in life where I've very little thatch left anyway, I go for the "Walter White" look and shave my head two or three times a week. This razor is ideal for that. Tried and trusted, and still "the best a man can get". Well pleased.

I have given up with using the cartridge type raises for a number of years, first having tried a competitors dual edge plastic thing, which I must hasten to add was absolutely awful and was rapidly consigned to the waste paper bin for recycling. I actually was so excited I unwrapped it and decided to have a shave straight away with possibly 2-3 weeks growth on my face. on hindsight I was perhaps being rather brave being my experience with the wpb example, but I needn't have worried with such a large growth it managed to clear all of it, blocking the sink plug and I only managed to nick myself twice and that was probably due to the large growth that I had and the fact that it was a completely unknown razor. overall it could have gone a lot worse I don't think your day could have been much better, I pleasantly surprising experience and one I could recommend especially at the price I picked it up at even at its recommended retail it would seem to be a bargain I'm quite happily plowed through all that growth and is now sitting waiting for the next time which I am more than sure it is capable of performing adequately for several weeks from the one blade. something I don't think my cartridge razor would have been able to managed the shave I perform today, without the use of several cartridges. there's nothing more joyous and finding your razor full of hair and not being able to shave anymore and having to ditch the cartridge, of course with a dual edge blade razor, you only have to loosen the blade give it a rinse and you're ready to rock and roll again. an amazing piece of gear designed many years ago go and I don't think the design can be bettered for reliability, economy. after all some of these newer cartridge style blades which you have to throw away because they become only clogged, but are still sharp have to be consigned to the bin, some of these will contain, the equivalent of several dual edge razors in one cartridge. and now for the score out of 10. 20/10 in summary a lovely crafted piece of engineering based on a traditional design of many years, provide many years of service, while saving you money and the environment!

If you're bored of changing the very expensive heads that last for 2-3 times, going through a spot 3-4 times, tapping it to the sink every second, this is for you. As I read it's purpose is not completely saving your face, but it is just perfect for it. It is quality, sharp, and surprisingly safe to use. One pull, and your skin is like a baby's. One blade, so the hair is much easier to clean from between, and it just feels, and looks great. I wish I'd met with this years ago. Would have been saving money, time, pain, and the environment.

Good Value

This is a good-quality 3-piece razor, suitable either for a young buck or a grumpy old man. The head nicely plated ZAMAK, evidentially made in Germany (my guess based in the German instructions on the protective paper inside it). It provides a small blade gap for a mild shave. I find it comfortable and effective. The handle is made in China. It seems to be plated brass. It has an attractive style, and it's weight gives the razor a nice balance. It has a textured surface in the upper half only. I'll guess that this was done not only for stylistic reasons, but also as a hint to newbies where to hold it with their thumb and forefingers. Not a bad idea. The grip could be better, but it's adequate. I'm used to steadying my razor with my pinky resting on the end of the handle; the round end deprives me of a rest for it. Overall, this razor is a good value compared to it's competition (e.g., Merkur). It's nice to have a good double-edge safety razor widely available in retail outlets.

Great razor

Have always used a cartridge razor, but for some time have been wanting to try a double edge safety razor. Was put off for fear of cutting myself. Finally decided to give the King C Gillette a try. After just one shave I am totally converted! Took the first shave very slowly and carefully, no nicks or cuts and the best shave ever. Will not be going back to the cartridge razor anytime soon.

An exceptional, very comfortable result can be achieved with a traditional three pass shaving method. Quality razor

Using a Gillette DE razor to shave reminds me of my dad’s shaving set up. I’ve decided to go back to that old fashioned practice, rather than the disposable one I’ve been using, for green reasons mainly. But I also love the heavy yet balanced feel of the Gillette razor in my hand. It’s a solid piece of engineering that feels good to use.

Simply brilliant

I was always warned off of these type of razors because I have sensitive skin so had never really considered them. Seeing Gillette finally release one made me decide to give it a go. I won't lie, the result is absolutely fantastic. Everything about the razor just works brilliantly, both the weight and feel in my opinion is spot on. On my first shave I shaved round my neck and around my Adam's apple and didn't catch myself once. On second go I found that making your skin warmer than I previously had (ie putting hot water direct onto my skin for longer than I had done before) actually made the shave even better. On now researching this further, I simply cannot find another razor at this price point and quality anywhere else. This is second Gillette DE safety razor resurrection after Heritage model (I missed) since 1980s when Gillette left DE razor market. It fantastic value for money and good business model. Gillette just combine the best in one economy of scale package: 89 type head of German design (and probably manufacture), solid heady metal handle from China and good about average aggressiveness blades from Gillette’s factory in Russia (who manufacturing Astra and Gillette Platinum DE blades which widely available on e-bay or Amazon). And it is twice cheaper identical German Muhle R89. 89 type head has a mild aggressiveness close comb head. King C. For my skin perfect combination is with medium aggressive blades: Astra Platinum, Wilkinson & Sword Classic, Gillette Platinum. Even with el cheapo shaving soap like Arko or Wilkinson Sword it gives very closed (two passes in my case is enough) BBS. Handle has pattern in sweet spot for balance. This is good thing for beginners to hold razor correctly and easily glide it over the skin, not to push as cartridge razor. I was so impressed so ordered another two razors as the gift to my family members. Highly recommend. Buy it be it gone.

What a Professional Razor

Absolutely 100 percent amazed by this razor. I've never seen anything so professional and accurate. It does the job properly after using it you would think you have had a shave by a professional. It looks smart with 2 sided blade . You couldn't ask for anything better. All men should have one. Certainly recommend it.
