I was given this to review. I think it is really designed for those who have smaller beards and are only shaving the neck (plus cheeks so they say). I guess they are claiming that the two blades spaced wider apart are better than 4/5 blades that can sometimes leave the skin smarting. Well, I found the two blades to be fine and as good as my usual fusion blades, showing that, for the neck at least, you really don't need so many blades. Plus you still have the reverse third blade for close work. The handle/blades are fully compatible with the fusion system so you can use the handle with the other blades etc. The cost of the replacement blades is similar to the equivalent fusion blades but only available in a 3-pack.

It's a well designed razor, but overpriced, and the blades are terribly overpriced (even in comparison to other of Gillette's similarly performing blades). The razor design is very derivative, essentially a Edwin Jagger/Merkur head on a nondescript handle, the sort of razor one can get from any number of vendors (starting, but not finishing, with Edwin Jagger or Merkur). One wonders if P&G Gillette generated this razor by pulling together off the shelf parts from other razor vendors. There's virtually nothing traditionally Gillette about it. (At least the Gillette "Vintage" razor brought out last year had a reproduction of Gillette's bar handle of the 1930s, even though the shaving head was, again, Edwin Jagger/Merkur.) But, I must emphasize, that this is a very well performing razor, as one would expect of any Edwin Jagger or Merkur product. (BtW, for lovers of Gillette DE razors, P&G Gillette really made a major error by not putting its traditional date code on this razor. FWIW, 2020 is year "P" in the Gillette rotation. I think that this omission probably hurt sales.)

I have a sensitivity neck and the skin always gets irritated whenever I shave it. I've tried probably 10 different razors before and this is the only one that glided so smoothly over the hair that I didn't get irritation and redness on my neck afterwards. I was definitely expecting to get cut marks and redness on my neck but it was very smooth and shaved really cleanly. I just hope that the blades last as long as Mach 3 and I'll be buying this every time from now on.

Although the KCG head isnt an exact 1:1 copy of the Merkur DE head that has been around since the Weimar Republic, it has almost exactly the same exposure, gap, clamping angles and shave geometry. And thats a good thing. Looks to me like Gillette benchmarked the Merkur head when specifying this razor, and why wouldnt they? The heyday of the nickel plated brass Gillette razor is over. Zamak is much cheaper. It makes up in low cost what it gives up in quality and durability. Im not saying this is a low quality razor; far from it. I own bronze, stainless and titanium razors from makers like Timeless, Rockwell, Blackland, Feather and RazoRock to name a few, and their quality is out of this world. Heirloom levels of durability. But is that necessary in a razor? But is that necessary in a razor? I only bought those in my search for the perfect razor and blade for me. Im no collector. And this Gillette comes as close to perfect for me as Ive found. Every face is different and your experience will be as well. All Im saying is this thing shaves as well as any $300 razor I own and better than most of them. Im getting rid of them as buyers come up. Each has sold within hours of listing on the shaving forums. The KCG/Merkur works for me. The handle is my only complaint, but since I have a stack of stainless handles of varying shape, length and weight, I found one that gives this razor perfect weight and balance for my technique and Im just not using my other razors anymore.
Nice weight and length. Some complain about the handle but I find it works just fine and does not slip out of my hand. Nice to see Gillette back in the Safety Razor game with a really good product. If you are tired of paying the high price on cartridge blades and also want to reduce the plastic waste in our environment, this is a great razor to accomplish both and get a great shave as well.
When I saw the Gillette company selling a new line called "King C." as you would imagine. I was wondering if the companies marketing out kicked the actual product. On a Saturday night, I received my product. The packaging lived up to its name, which inspired me, but I still wanted to know if a king or a peasant had made this product. Having plans on Saturday already, my response will have to wait until Sunday. Finally, it was time for me to plan for next week and set up King C. Into conduct. I felt different as I grasped the blade. I stooped over the sink that produced hot steaming water and quickly turned to a solid upright standing position after being lathered up. I took a towel feverishly to clean away the fog from the mirror, to see if my reflection confirmed ... MoreWhen I saw the Gillette company selling a new line called "King C." as you would imagine. I felt different as I grasped the blade. I stooped over the sink that produced hot steaming water and quickly turned to a solid upright standing position after being lathered up. I took a towel feverishly to clean away the fog from the mirror, to see if my reflection confirmed the way I felt. It has been. As I was washing, King C. It drifted over my face as if it were a finely choreographed dance, extracting every follicle smoothly. "I felt like a "King" as I started this "dance", filled with faith awaiting his queen. King C. It's much more than a name. This Gillette product line has made an average man feel ready to conquer the week. To anyone who wants the perfect shave, I highly suggest this.
I actually wanted to shave my head and beard today, so it was quite ironic that this arrived via the courier. I thought, 'well that was good timing'. I applied the shaving gel first onto my head, it was so refreshing, and makes you feel alive and ready for the shave, and then I started.....wow, such a lovely smooth shave, not the type that seems to drag and pull hair from your head and face. The razor also features a lovely sticky grip part for smoothing whilst you shave. I really liked this razor and have to say it's up there with the best I've ever used. Will be sure to purchase more blades in future. Great product.
I got this razor because I have a beard but want to keep my neck clean shaven. It said it was specifically for that. Well I tried it and the first time I used it, it worked ok. Well enough, I thought for a razor you aren’t used to yet but the second shave I couldn’t even tell I had shaved. I shave in the shower and got out I saw myself in the mirror and it looked just like It did before. I thought I must have messed up and reshaved in the sink. Nope. Still nothing. Each razor is only good for one shave. I take good care of my razors. This isn’t because I left it wet or dirty. This razor just sucks. I’m giving it two stars because at list it didn’t cut me up.
Sample for review. I have used Gillette Mach3 and Fusion razors for many years, "upgrading" to each new iteration as it comes along. Sometimes these "upgrades" do actually represent an improvement on their predecessor; sometimes they are merely an excuse to jack up the price. For me, this neck razor falls entirely into the latter category. Having demonstrated that five blades are better than one or two, turning full circle is a transparently cynical marketing exercise.
King C. Gillette did an amazing job with this neck razor handle that comes with 2 blades for refill. I will start by saying this razor is a manly dark royal blue. The handle is lightweight but very easy to keep a hold of. Now when I shave especially my neck area i tend to get razor bumps, but this razor has made that process so much better! I was able to shave my face and my neck without get razor bumps, but it was also one of the closest shaves i have ever gotten. I was very impressed with having only 2 blades how nice and comfortable of a shave this was. The blade seemed to last me quit quite some time too. Let alone having the extra blades was very nice surprise to help me keep up with such a great smoothing shave. I for sure recommend this to any guy out there ... MoreKing C.
