Giro Riddance Shoes EU 42 / Black - Dark Shadow

$90.00

(42 reviews)

Many slopestyle, DH, Enduro, and trail riders prefer rocking flat pedals for those occasions when going flat out requires foot out and the ability to separate yourself quickly from the bike for a trick or an unfortunate crash is necessary. Giro's new flat pedal offering, the Men's Riddance Cycling Shoe is designed for such disciplines where pedaling efficiency is still valued and slipping a foot off the pedal isn't fast, it's scary, and cushioning and protection are important criteria as well. To mitigate the chance of your foot blowing off the pedal, Giro worked with its long-time rubber supplier, Vibram, to create the stickiest shoe compound it has ever launched. Dubbed Megagrip ISR, the outsole's rubber helps dampen vibrations and sticks to the pedals like flypaper. Underneath the rubber is a full-length EVA midsole that soaks up the hits from hucks-to-flat or bone-jarring bottom outs. The microfiber upper is both hardwearing and supple while being water-resistant and its traditional lace closure, with a keeper, offers an optimized fit and casual looks. The front and rear of the shoes receive rubber reinforcements to improve durability in these high-wear areas. Finally, the molded DH EVA footbed with arch support further adds comfort and support so the last thing on your mind when it comes to clearing that gap jump is your feet.

Super comfy! Super Stylish! you can wear them with jeans or Dickies and a flannel and go have dinner with your lady or some cut-offs, cycling short liners, tube socks, and your favorite punk rock t-shirt and go shred your local trail. You can even take them to church, if that's what you're into. The vibram sole clings to everything. I've worn these while riding bmx plastic pedals and they STICK BRO! Like if I was riding metal pins. The fit is pretty much the same as DVS or Globes with out the excess padding. I bought mine half a size bigger because that's what I do. And if you ever find yourself in the mountains on side ofa icy road putting on chains while wearing these shoes, just know that your feet will stay warm and dry and sure footed thanks to that Vibram ... MoreSuper comfy! I ordered a few pairs of new MTB to try. Unfortunately, these were by far the worst quality - stiff, cheap-feeling upper that dug into my toes when I walked. They also had a very stiff sole compared to the others I tried (North wave, Ride Concepts, etc). The only thing this shoe had going on was a good style. I returned and kept the Ride Concepts TNT shoes - they are so comfortable, no break-in period, perfect mid stiffness sole.

Appears to be quality MTB shoe with Vibram sole. Firm sole but not too firm for walking. Very grippy on peddles and leather like construction keeping feet warm on cold rides while also providing ventilation with lots of small holes. Laces far too long, but otherwise very happy with purchase.

Excited to find the Riddance
14 December 2022

I wear a size 16 (50/51) shoe and when I saw Giro made a mtb shoe in a 50 I had to give em a try. I picked up the Riddance because the price was right and I am trying to find a shoe for riding that is made for riding. They are a stiff shoe with protection around the toe box. The 50 is a bit tight so I am stretching them out this winter and hoping there?ll be more room by spring when it?s time to ride trails and gravel.

Good alternative to FiveTens
6 November 2019

Ridden these for a year, they are starting to come apart. Sole its still in good condition. The grip of Vibram soles isn't as sticky as the stealth rubber of Freerider. I prefer these soles, I'm able to adjust foot position without having to lift up. The vibram soles don't get torn apart by pedal pins, grip is consistent for the life of the shoe. The little elastic lace loops are genius, hold the lace in place, they don't get caught on vegetation, and don't work loose.Fit is a bit narrow.

Great shoe for the price!
1 May 2018

These shoes are great, not the best, but pretty darn close. The sole of the shoe is pretty firm and comfortable while pedaling. I have noticed though that the rubber on the sole does not seem to be as tacky as the 5.10, but you still get great grip while pedaling up hill and in rocky downhill sections. I do enjoy having such a firm toe on the shoe. I feel it gives better protection while riding and hiking your bike up rocky terrain. I'm currently using these shoes as my All Mountain/Enduro riding shoe. All in all I would highly recommend this shoe to a friend! And for the price you really can't go wrong.

One more time Giro doesn't disappoint
1 October 2020

I admit I clicked "order" with my eyes closed. First pair of flats for me and the reviews on these were mixed. I do a lot of hike a bike so I needed a pari of shoes that I could walk comfortably and with a grippy sole for when I hike with the bike on my shoulders. These shoes are just great. Very grippy on pedals (RF Chester) and on any terrain I walked over. They are also comfortable, I had no blisters, not even on the first hike. The toe box is roomy and very protective. They seem well built and should last a few seasons. The only reason for giving 4 star is the inner sole which is very thin and offers no arch support. I am used to change inner sole in all my shoes (high arch) but for someone who isn't these shoes may feel hard and uncomfortable. For the right fit ... MoreI admit I clicked "order" with my eyes closed. First pair of flats for me and the reviews on these were mixed. Second pair and still loving them
10 August 2020

I purchased a pair of 5.10's when I switched to platform pedals and found them to be too tight (I have somewhat wide feet). They took forever to break in and were never totally comfortable. Then I tried the Giro Riddance and it was a breath of fresh air. Super comfortable and very supportive. I can wear them on a 3 hour ride without a problem. I ride xc trails and enduro and I find that the Vibram rubber is a good compromise of sticky and durable. I never pop off the pedals even on chunky downhill.

Vibram sole not durable
3 July 2019

This is a one year review.Purchased in July 2018, ridden about 100 miles probably, I'm not a super hardcore rider. The design and comfort of the uppers is great, nice and stylish, fits well, but they've only lasted about half a season. The lugs on the Vibram sole that are designed for the pins of flat pedals to sit within have just been totally chewed up and ripped off. Most of the grip comes from this design, so with out them the grip has suffered tremendously. Definitley won't be re-purchasing. Going to go with a 5.10 Stealth rubber, or something for more long-term durability next time.

Well made. Grip great. Fit well. Velcro strap a great feature!
22 April 2021

Really like these shoes. Grip on the pedals is great and comparable to the Five Tens I had before. Stiff enough to hold your foot in place with a solid platform, but not too stiff to do some walking/hiking. Really like the velcro strap. Not only does it help secure the shoes, but you can tuck the laces under and not have to worry about them snagging anything. Been riding a couple months now and holding up well. Recommended!
