Beautiful set.I used to begrudge cutting vegetables as it was a chore!I now look forward to cooking as the prep is a breeze.Love that it comes with a ceramic 'steel' to keep your tools sharp. Love the shape of the blades - if you could see a photo of each knife supplied prior to purchase, you would buy instantly!

Extremely sharp and fit nicely in the hand. The set has everything the average home cook would need. The scissors are surprisingly good too! Great quality and makes food prep easier and quicker.

Great knife set, i have never really got into cooking but since getting these knives i find myself preping every meal and practicing my technique.The vegetable santoku is my favorite. Great balance and super sharp. I also never thought i cared about scissors, but the ones in the set get used almost every day. Great value for the price.

When cutting items it goes quick and easy to cut through any item. The feel of the knives is great. Clean after each use right away as they say in the user manual.

Awesome Knife Set!!!

Best ever? sharp, beautiful and love the balance in my hand- the handles apparently have sand in them. I worked in catering for years and that's when I learned about these knives. To date Global are my very favorite. I have individual knives purchased over the years but this is the 1st professional knife set I've bought and couldn't be more pleased. If you love ti cook and create in the kitchen this is for you.

Big fan of Global Knives

Big fan of Global Knives. They make a great product and this is no exception. Bought for my daughter as a wedding gift, and it is more comprehensive than mine, with the shears and the ceramic steel, and a couple more knives. Global hold a really keen edge and I recommend buying their 2 or 3 wheel sharpener, as it is quick and easy and efficient every time.

Great Knives For a Busy Home

I consider myself an amateur enthusiast of kitchen knives and thought I'd pick up a bargain with these knives. They are, as you would expect from global knives, quite sharp out of the box and well made. The collection of knives supplied with block is great for an aspiring home cook and the block is aesthetically pleasing. The two fully forged knives are useful for those fiddly tasks while the veg knife has the girth you would require to scoop up your nicely chopped ingredients. The veg knife could be a little bigger for tackling those stubbornly large vegetables like swedes or squash but you can always add to your collection, a German knife is probably best for these tasks. The straight edge paring knife seems to be superfluous to requirement but nice to have. The cook's knife is sharp and just long enough to make it the work horse of the pack. The bread knife is sharp and again just long enough to make it useful. I would apply a warning with the ceramic rod as using this wrong will damage and dull your knives very quickly, but being ceramic it will if used correctly keep your knives honed well. Finally the shears are sturdy and solid. The steel used in the knives are much softer than other brands such as Shun which means it is more forgiving to abuse and can be resharpened with relative ease. All in all a good all-rounder for a busy home kitchen.

Worst steel

I was given this set of knives last year, 6 months later I was cutting meat with the bigger knife and the tip broke off about 2" from the end. This is got to be the worst experience I've had. I went to the local Sur La Table store and they said I had to contact the manufacturer, I called GLOBAL and they argued "wear and tear" therefore, not under warranty. For a $700 set, not exactly the answer I was waiting. I wish there was a way to return and get a store credit so that I can buy another brand like Wustoff.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
