If you're a pro, like me, get another flash if you're in situations where you must rely on a flash head to work. The plastic hot shoe attachment is TOTAL junk. The original broke so I ordered a replacement (it's a pretty widely known issue) and on my first wedding back with it the entire piece snapped in two spilling the flash head to the ground. Now it rattles and I can't tell if it works. Not worth the poor reliability, or quality. Luckily I had a different flash with me.To be fair, the circular head looks nice when it works, but it's just no suited for real world professional use. I also babied it know this was a potential issue.

I am an event photographer and own 3 of these flashes, love them EXCEPT during events they have on MULTIPLE occasions suddenly become wobbly in their shoe connection joint and have broken off the camera leaving the bottom of the foot still locked on the camera while the rest of the flash crashes to the floor. I had 2 flashes break during the first year so BH would repair them under warranty. 3rd break was out of warranty so I have purchased 8 replacement feet for repairs myself so I can continue using them without any turn around time and lower cost. I will continue using but not without having a second one in my bag for quick change out when the first one suddenly breaks with little to no warning. Manufacturers tell you to purchase a new head for $20 from 3rd party.My Canon friends do not have the same problem.Flash is actually pretty nice and of great quality besides the snapping off problemo. Wasn't 100% certain this was going to work for the kind of product photography I do, but wanted to give the circular flash and magnetic accessories attachment methods a try. Very glad I did, because the flash exceeded my expectations for light output and evenness, and the accessories just made a good tool better. I've used the snoot, diffuser and barn doors already and am hoping to get out for some night shots later this week. That's when I have the most fun with multiple flash units. Solid purchase -especially at the discounted B&H price.

I used it on an event with about 150 people , when the lighting was very dark inside and it was just impossible to shoot without a flash. I use a TTL function and it worked like a charm I was able to get some magnificent photos single shot ,group shots , aerial shots you name it , thing was dead on. I have use other flash in the past and the fact that this is not a Sony flash wasn't very impressive to me because It did everything that I wanted it to do and I'm very happy with the performance . I would recommend it to anyone using a Sony I'm not really sure how it works with the other Camera like canon, Nikon etc. The cameras i used it on was the a Sony a 7R3 and also had it a 7S , it work on both ... MoreLove it , this flash has saved me. Let me also say that B&H was able to send the flash within three days of ordering it and I thought that was pretty fantastic , promptly getting this to me within three days. I will be using this flash for a New Years Event and can't wait to use it a the event. So if you are looking at the best third-party flash units give this one a try you will not be disappointed by the performance and quality of this awesome unit. One last thing that I want to mention is the fact that this unit cost is just above $250 I forget what the exact cost was but it was under $320 with the kit. That is until you use it the 3rd or 4th time. I started noticing the flash having a bit of play around the 3rd time as if it was becoming loose. Haven't bumped it, dropped it, or anything of that nature, so I didn't pay it much mind at first. Same wedding, well into the reception, a guest bumped me while dancing (bumped me, not the flash - and not that hard either, but enough to jerk the flash slightly). The flash fell with the hot shoe still attached to the camera. Thankfully I had a V860II in my bag as a back up. I recently switched to the Godox lighting system and shot my first wedding using Godox lighting. My V1 fell off the light stand and hit the ground, and I was sure that was the end of it. I picked it up and inspected it for damage. However, there was no physical damage, and it continues to work flawlessly. So needless to say, so far I am very impressed with the build and performance of this light. Furthermore, not having to deal with those double a batteries is an added bonus.
I can't say enough good about this flash kit. The hot shoe on the flash itself is now metal, which is't always the case with Sony compatible flashes and accessories due to the smart feature connectors on Sony Camera hot shoes. I tried Westcott's latest flash with the slick touch screen, but I ended up preferring the Godox physical buttons and dials. I find it easier to get muscle memory down and use the menus quickly and easily this way. The Westcott has better color accuracy, but I was able to get the godox white balanced like I want it with gels. And the Godox is much less expensive.The only complaint I have is that TTL still doesn't work with the flash trigger on my cameras. The Flash does, but not when using off camera flash with the trigger (Manual works ... MoreI can't say enough good about this flash kit. Pros: seems well made, lots of good reviews. Fired off a couple of tests pictures (Eventually) and the results when using flash are amazing. Keen to grow my knowledge and experience using this flash and more.Cons: Need a degree to work out how to set up and use it! SeemsFragile round the base. Also gives off non compatible messages when connecting to the camera (Sony A7IV) and not very novice friendly to work out how to use for some one trying to get into flash photography. Manual not very clear to follow. Still happy with the e purchase but feel the accessories could be bundled with it to make it better value.
I have used a variety of speedlights (in a variety of modifiers) for both my studio headshot/portrait business as well as casual family/friend shooting in various settings maybe just bouncing a little. While I was happy with the others (mostly all Godox too), I really love these new round head flashes with the great batteries! While the specs may be similar to the other ones, these seem a little more powerful, have a more useful and pleasing light pattern and seem to fill a softbox better. Plus the recycle time is definitely better. Last, for using these on camera or one of those other speedlight mounts, I really appreciate that these have the quick-locking feature rather than the screw-down type.
