Unless you make very specific google searches, chances are you wouldn't find the information I did. Turns out the Radeon Pro W5500 utilizes an automatic fan noise reduction system and will actually cause over heating problems which in turn causes crashes. One person in the AMD forums said that he fixed his similar issue by increasing the minimum fan speed and target fan speed to help with cooling, which you need the AMD Radeon Software to do and they say by using the tuning section they are not reliable for any damage that's caused. In his case, he was also able to adjust the noise reduction system, but that's not available to Windows 10 users (I checked both Pro and Standard versions of the software). After I increased the fan speed to help with cooling, temps are still running high 30s (even at almost 4000rpm fan speed). As an out-of-box product, its terrible due to the crashing issues. When it performs like it should its pretty good, but that doesn't happen 100% of the time. I only found out about the fan tuning 1 hour before writing this so I can't say if it fixed my problem or not yet.I like this card, I really do. It looks amazing in person with the almost brushed, metallic blue skin and flat silver accent, along with its sleek and slim design. Not to mention that the packaging even looks good (I'm a graphic designer so I appreciate good packaging). I just wish it would perform the way it should. Read the other reviews here, especially Riley's. 100% correct. Yes, AMD newest driver (Q3 at the time of this review) did fix the issue if you tune your fan for higher speed. However, every once in a while (read very often) the Radeon software crashes. And if you don't catch it and task kill it and reopen it, the card will overheat again and crash your computer. This does not happen if you remote to your computer (obviously). So, go with NVIDIA. This card is nothing more than constant pain.

The price was right. The specs looked great for my needs. Unfortunately, this card (or at least certainly it's drivers) has been nothing but trouble for me under Windows 10 Pro 64bit OS.I've battled mightily the past six months tweaking settings, reseating in a different port, clean installing the Radeon software over and over, trying older versions of the drivers, installing drivers only without the entire Radeon software package.Nothing has worked.As soon as I enable GPU acceleration in my Chromium browser or in Affinity Designer, or in some other way test the gods of Radeon, my screens go black and I'm forced to hard cycle my PC.I won't be buying another AMD graphics card anytime soon.

He gave some suggestions to fix the problem and nothing changed (I will list the link to the forum below). He then told me to look up common problems with my graphics card (which I should've done prior to ordering anything), and after a simple AMD Radeon Pro W5500 common problems google search, I quickly found multiple people have had the same problem as me with the W5500 and W5700 and everyone who listed their solution said the problem went away after changing out graphics cards. I do NOT suggest this card to anyone, no matter how much of a budget build you are trying to make. I paid $400 for this and that should've been a big enough red flag considering the equivalents listed were all $1k+ with relatively same specs. I will say though, this card looks AMAZING in person with it's sleek design and slimness, and the packaging looks great too, and when it's not crashing it does perform well (but it crashes too often and I am currently in the process of trying to return it).I'm not a pc gamer, but I am a graphic designer, photographer, photography editor, 3D designer, and web developer. I did a years worth of research (yes, I actually did research for 1 whole year) when determining the parts to use for my workstation pc and the one thing I didn't do was look up common problems and solutions. Please don't make the same mistake as me. Do your research (pros and cons, problems and solutions, and everything in between), read reviews, and trust the people who actually bought this (like me) and not what the company or anyone affiliated with the company says about it. Keep in mind I am only talking about this GPU, AMD does make great CPUs, I have a Ryzen 3700X and it is performing better than advertised and is able to easily keep up with my work load (I did a stress test, if you can even call it that, after the first few days. I opened my largest Photoshop files (3 files that were all 2Gb+), my largest Illustrator files (2 files that were roughly 700MB each), Destiny 2 with max performance settings, and had Task Manager and OCCT going to check the performance of my CPU and temperature of my CPU. Average clocking was around 3.85GHz, highest temperature recorded was 43 degrees Celsius, with a max usage percentage of 50%. The GPU actually was performing pretty well too, surprisingly it didn't crash during this stress test). currently have it paired with A Ryzen 7 3800x, B550-m, 16gb ram at 3.2GHz, with a 1 fan 3rd gen cooler master radiator, and a 750watt gold psu. good workstation GPU for more cad based workloads 1 of the 8 we ordered had a whea logger error that caused the computer to crash, (sent off to AMD and they sent us a replacement without any issues). it's about 3/4" thick so you can put it in smaller builds
I bought it from amazon or AMD, and I don't remember exactly because it was a year ago and I made a note to put a review on the calendar. I've put enough workload on it to fry it and nothing has happened! the renders and the projects that I have started have turned out perfect, I rendered with that graphic for 30 hours non-stop and it continues to work in perfect condition. A point in disadvantage is in LINUX it took me a bit of work to install the graphics. But after installing them it worked perfectly!
I almost didn't get this card because of other reviews. But, I took a gamble on it since I had waited over a year to find a decent card that was both, available & sold at a reasonable price. I didn't have any problems installing it, setting up the software or using it on my PC. No errors or any other problems... well, except for one that was my own fault, because I didn't check to see what type of cable connector I needed to run it. Once I got an adapter, everything went smoothly & editing my videos works much better now that I have this card

While pro-series cards are never especially good value from a money vs. performance standpoint, this does at least undercut the aging NVidia Quadro cards of similar raw performance/compute units, so it's hard to knock it too much. I mean, just consider that the Quadro P2200 is this card's competitor at the same relative price, except it's just an updated P2000 from 2017, still running on Pascal in 2021, and only has 5GB of GDDR5X. Video editing in 1080p is no problem, and even 4K is very doable so long as you're not doing heavy color grades, effects, complicated transitions, or lots of angles in multi-cam. Pile on the grading and VFX though and it won't keep up, presumably due to the 128-bit memory bandwidth and not the 8GB of DDR6 (vs. 256-bit on pricier cards).The notable downside (depending on your needs, at least) is that it's a single-slot GPU with a thin little blower fan. It's not bad at idle or even under low/moderate or burst-y loads, but if you spin it up in earnest for, say, a longer video render it has that unpleasant, high-pitch kind of shrillness. But of course that's kind of par for the course among pro cards, so again it's hard to knock it too much.
So far, the replacement is working great. I'll have to put it though its paces to see how it holds up. I do most FEA simulations and design work but not much in the way of rendering. I'll come back with an update in a few weeks.
