I am very gadget conscious and am aware that there are a lot of things out there that don't work. This one worked for me in every way. Boy scout AT hike. Cooked breakfast for me and my son. Boiled water on MSR rocket stove in a bit over 2 minutes. For those that complain about the measuring marks, there could be more, but they are in the side of the orange bowl. Only complaint is that they could be bigger and easier to see. Spork device is a nice token as a backup, but its pretty useless. As long as you know that going in, you will be happy with this.

LolIt seems like a lot of people are really struggling with the bag/sink thingy...to a point where their life is made miserable!I did too...i cried curled up in a ball and had to call my mom! There is an absolute easy way to do this, simply open the string and reverse the kit upside down, use your thumbs and index to simply push the bag out of the opening until you have enough sticking out to grab it. Voilà .You can even put the whole thing upright again once you have an inch or two sticking out and just pull it. Since the bag is rubbery inside it won't fall back in unless you push it.No more crying in foetal position on the trail!I love this set because it nests perfectly with the bushbuddy stove ( no not the solo stove wich is the Chinese made copy but ... MoreLolIt seems like a lot of people are really struggling with the bag/sink thingy...to a point where their life is made miserable!I did too...i cried curled up in a ball and had to call my mom! There is an absolute easy way to do this, simply open the string and reverse the kit upside down, use your thumbs and index to simply push the bag out of the opening until you have enough sticking out to grab it. Well worth the 35$ extra dollar, because it is now US made so we lose on currency and no more free shipping but nonetheless still worth it to get a handmade product and support a cottage industry. To top it off the regular bushbuddy is 70 grams less than the Chinese copy!)To that I add a trangia burner or any alcohol stove (soda can, tuna can, red bull can or penny stove...you name it!) And you get a full cookset that runs on twigs or alcohol. The bushbuddy is amazing to have a small campfire a night when you are stealth camping or when it is really dry and you don't want to take chances. Burn hot and is very efficient.Yeah you should get one...it the Chinese copy if it sails your boat. They are great multi purpose stoves.

This is just what I wanted. Perfect for backpacking and bike packing. Works well over the multi fuel and gas stoves I have. Yet to try it over a fire. The cover that acts as a washing up basin is not really useable as it is easier to just wash the pot out directly, and rinse other components. However it is an excellent and sturdy protective case. The foon holds it's own. Time will tell. The handle is well positioned, well above and out from the stoves heat. It is also a great lock to hold everything in place when packed up.All in all it carries my stove, wind guard, lighter and nameplate...all together where it should be.It's well worth the few extra dollars in price...👍

Firstly, Im not a backpacker, I'm a cyclist and adventure motorcycle person, so weight is less of an issue for me so please bear that in mind. This is a nice, lightweight cookset for one to be sure.I purchased this as it will do most of my cooking, but not all of it.anything that requires a pot is fine, but once in awhile a pan is also in order so I find myself carrying both this set and a smaller pan for my eggs and ham (too hard to even try in this set). Also, in order to keep costs down, they went with the collapsible spork, which works just fine if you are not stirring any dense food (instant potatoes, etc) so take an alternate device to stir thick stuff otherwise you will break the spork.Found myself buying a small, collapsible cup to go along with this as ... MoreFirstly, Im not a backpacker, I'm a cyclist and adventure motorcycle person, so weight is less of an issue for me so please bear that in mind. I wanted to get something compact and lightweight for a backcountry trip this past summer. The soloist fit the bill quite handily except for a few minor points.Pros:- Compact. I was able to cram everything that comes with the Soloist in addition to my stove and fuel canister and still close the lid. This is the smallest cookset I could find that can store a 227 canister in addition to a stove.Cons:- The spork/foon is basically useless. It fell apart on the first day. I had purchased a different one anyway that can stack a spoon and fork to make a long handle to reach the bottom of the pot easier.- The lid doesn't have a nice tight fit, it kind of just sits on top of the pot or cup. I was hoping there would be a good seal. One thing to consider if storing the ... MoreI wanted to get something compact and lightweight for a backcountry trip this past summer. I was hoping there would be a good seal. One thing to consider if storing the canister in the pot is that the metal can and also stove will rub against the inside surface of the pot and wear the coating, which affects the non-stickiness. A simple cloth or something would prevent that. For the cost, it is absolutely great value. This was my first cookset and I would definitely recommend it to others.
Great lightweight kit for backpacking. Able to fit 4oz fuel canister, the bowl and spoon in the pot but couldn't fit an MSR PocketRocket stove at the same time. Provided you don't fall directly on the pot like I did you'll get many years out of the set. Outside of the previously mentioned crushing the only damage my first set incurred was a little bit of melting of the plastic coating on the handle. I got 5 years out of the first set I bought and liked it so much I bought another.
I bought this as a newbie backpacker over ten years ago and it does not look like they have changed much about it. I'm guessing you have your own spork so the one in here broke the first time I used it although that looks updated. Looks like this one has a small pour spout. But I have to say it fits my Snow Peak stove and a mini gas can perfectly and the small plastic (?) cup has it's advantages such as making coffee or oatmeal in the morning. I honestly HATE the way you open the top, it hurts your fingers, but honestly you're doing it maybe a couple times a day so it's one thing they could improve but not a deal breaker. I think if you are looking for a full set it's hard to beat the price on this. Also the steel does not tarnish with fire so it still looks like ... MoreI bought this as a newbie backpacker over ten years ago and it does not look like they have changed much about it. I have taken this thing to hell and back so I have to call a solid product out when I find it. Yes it could have a non plastic lid but honestly, it has never bothered me in the moment.
I use this for boiling water for dried food and coffee. I originally had a smaller pot but prefer this bigger size pot to contain the splashing of boiling water. The best part if this kit is the cup with cozy, not sure why noone else had copied. I have not found a better built in coffee cup option. It fits the fuel and traditional larger pocket rocket, also a little towel. The spork is terrible, but minor and I repleaced it with the GSI folding foon, which is also great.
This little cook set is everything you need for one person. I did not have difficulty removing the carry bag, and have used it for gathering water and washing dishes, I love the multi- use function of it. The lid does not snap tight to the pot but strainer feature works well, the lid does however snap tight on the bowl which is a nice feature if you want to carry a snack for later! Love the shape and size of the bowl, the foon is a little flimsy but works just fine. The pot is exceptional for boiling water, frying bacon and cooking eggs. Clean up is a breeze. I purchased the GSI infinity backpacker mug and it nestles perfectly inside, it's a nice add on if you enjoy the feel of a mug for your coffee, like I do! Handle is sturdy, and 1.1 lt is plenty big enough. This ... MoreThis little cook set is everything you need for one person. This is the perfect backpacking pot. I don’t use the included spork and bowl, but this kit is the only way to get this size pot with the Teflon non stick surface. It will hold a small or medium canister and my MSR pocket rocket, a piezo lighter, and a sponge with room to spare. The handle locks everything into place, and the bag prevents damaging my pack and doubles as a mini sink. The pot is extremely light, but heavier (of course) than Titanium. I went with the anodized aluminum because it heats more evenly and sometimes I do more backpacking than just boiling water. Thanks to the non stick surface it’s also infinitely easier to clean. GSI makes quality stuff, and even with the additions I don’t need I can’t complain about the price. I highly recommend it.
