At current promo pricing, one cannot beat the value of this GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB RAM kit. With DDR3 now being last gen, production has likely ceased (or greatly slowed) in favor of DDR4. Eventually as backstock clears, will become expensive & hard to find new kits in the not too distant future. Some may say there's not a noticeable performance gain, if upgrading from DDR3 1600MHz or lower, yet there is & voltage remains the same. There's no question if building new (or reusing a good MB/CPU) that the 1866MHz kits are worth the extra (if any) cash. Am very happy with my G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL kits, glad I check my Newegg promos closely. I purchased these ram drives with promise of quality, and was sadly mislead. Maybe my case is a one off. But from what I've heard (after my purchase) G.SKILL has a fairly high failure rate. The risk is not worth the reward. I recommend looking for a less flashy, but much more reliable product. These are like the Beats by Dre of ram drives. Flashy, and expensive, but you are paying for nothing more than branding, not true quality. I just regret not doing more research before purchasing this product. Hopefully this review will help someone make a more informed decision in the future. Unlike me.

Upgraded a older motherboard running on 8GB of 1333 ram. The 16GB of 1600 ram is compatible with the motherboard but will run at 1333 speed. Removed and replaced memory, rebooted. Everything up and running !! On a side note the red heat shields look sharp in a all black computer.

New life for an old PC
10 July 2023

Posted a question as to whether this would work in my 11 year old PC. Got an affirmative answer, bought and installed the product. All good but then realised the hard disk was the real problem. Went into Scorptec, took their advice, bought an SSD and dual bay docking station, cloned the old hard disk and installed the SSD. My old PC now operates faster than it's ever done. A rejuvenated PC for less than $200. Thanks Scorptec!

A huge disappointment I did confirm this memory stick to not be the correct one 4gb instead of 8GB. Ran test on it and yes I do know that memory sticks have to be the same model etc as the other(s). Though having to use a 4gb stick and an 8gb stick supposedly the label shows... and still seeing 8gb? unacceptable. paying almost 50 bucks for a 4gb stick which should have been an 8gb? unacceptable. I believe I will take a partial refund for the difference I have no idea how I can return this item I am currently at the airport waiting to board my flight in the next hour. And will not return till the end of nov I work 9 - 14hr shifts - swing shifts n at times double shifts. I've tested the stick by itself as well with just a test motherboard it read out as 4gb. please send my irritated and annoyed regards to whoever it was that either packaged it or whoever it was that handled it after it left the warehouse and somehow it got maybe taken and replaced mid-transit to one of the locations. I use to work in the warehouse and left 2004 when it was jack chang who was the wh manager I worked receiving. issues like these aren't extremely rare and have been known to happen from time to time.

Saved my PC!

Originally I had 8GB of this memory, 2x4GB set. This served me well for about 8 years, but it was time to upgrade. Instead of swapping my whole build to a new AM4 series mobo, processor, and ddr4 memory, I thought I would give this a shot and see if the PC would still perform adequately. I installed this set alongside my initial 8GB and WOW! I can honestly say this is the best 70 some-odd dollars I have spent. I do a lot of CAD design and it can be somewhat memory intensive, my PC would stutter at times when using chrome and spotify while working on models, and now I haven't had an issue since. I am teaching online CAD courses this summer and needed to have the ability to also stream what I was doing and with this RAM upgrade it wont be a problem. That being said, about 4 years from now, a new PC will be inevitable. Id say if you have a good AM3/+ system right now and don't want to spend the $$$ to fully upgrade to a new system, this could give you a few more years with your current system.

So Far So Good

I initially was browsing for a new memory kit to replace the faulty kit that came with my PC back in 2012. The kit that shipped with my PC was working fine until now. I randomly would get BSOD and I narrowed it down to my RAM (or at least that's what I hope it was!) I picked this product because I had heard that G.Skill is a reputable brand and a lot of people had great things to say. I'm not really a hardcore PC enthusiast that demands the fastest, the absolute best or the most expensive. I just want something to work for a reasonable price l and I am glad that this product offered that. Installing was not difficult and this is the first time I tried to install anything to my PC. Still holding up 10 years later
15 June 2021

I built my first PC 10 years ago. Over the years I've upgraded a few things here and there. Recently I decided to look for additional RAM. Wanting to add to my existing 2 sticks - to fill out all 4 slots on my motherboard - I looked to see if I could find the same model I bought for the initial build. Sure enough, these are still around and for what I think is still a reasonable price for a 2x4GB DDR3 kit. If you have a CPU/motherboard that uses last-gen DDR3 RAM, these are a no-brainer. They're no TridentZ, but G.SKILL sure makes some quality RAM kits.

So here's the deal. I got these sticks to upgrade my memory from 16 gigs to 32 gigs, more or less to max out my system until I can save for a new build. These sticks seemed great at first, no issues, until about a month ago I kept getting a 19 q-code every time I tried to boot up my machine. After a bit of research and work, I was able to get my machine to boot by just swapping around the memory slots. Things seemed to work again, and no harm no foul I think. Then last week, it happens again. Again, I fix it by swapping around the memory slots. Tonight, I get home, boot up my computer, and get greeted with the BSOD for a Machine Check Exception. When I downgraded back to the 16 gig of memory, low and behold my computer was working again. I had ran multiple memory checks and diagnostics, and yet found nothing. However, all other hardware diagnostics pointed to memory failure. As a result, I am very disappointed in this product, and have reached out to the manufacturer to discover the extent of the lifetime limited warranty. For the price I paid, this is just unacceptable.
