I thought I'd pick one of these up at the same time as a V60 kit, and it helps to take out some of the learning curve. Fits neatly and securely on top of the funnel and helps to get a good flow of hot water in the top while still getting other aspects dialled in (so then I'm not questioning my pouring methods just yet)
Got this thing when I first bought a V60. Very helpful if you don't have a gooseneck kettle or a Hario Air Kettle. I did find that the coffee bed in the V60 was quite uneven at the end of the pour, but that's to be expected. We did get an Air Kettle, and subsequently a gooseneck kettle, so this fella hasn't been used for a while now.
This product is well designed and works as intended to assist in producing even brews more easily. I would use this with a normal kettle, over using a gooseneck kettle alone.
The Hario V60 Drip Assist is quite useful and provides consistent brew results with a regular kettle. The drip-assist allows for ever distribution of water and a consistent brew and extraction every single time. The tool has two holes, ones in the middle for blooming, and the outer holes for distribution of water at a more slower rate. I'd definetly recommend it if you're having trouble with brewing a v60 pourover.
Product is a great introduction to pourover coffee, as the drip assist eliminates the need for a goose neck kettle to control flow. Only issue is that the material fogs up quickly, which obscures the view of the bed.Once a user gets used to pouring or a specialized kettle, the v60 can be used regularly without the drip assist.
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend! He was sceptical about using it, but was so happy in the end! It's great to use if you don't have a gooseneck kettle too! Amazing product!
Is good if you don't have a gooseneck kettle. It works pretty well on a Kalita wave
