These are amazing as long as you have a balanced Amp/DAC because at least 4 volts from your DAC is a must. They need current like other planar magnetic headphones, but these just require it due to their sensitivity being so low. People who complain they're hard to drive are using a single ended RCA DAC I guarantee. I tested with the Drop THX 789 and Topping A90 using a Topping D10b and Sabaj A20d DAC and sounded great and as loud as you would want. The mids and bass are seamless, and the treble is really good too. They're more suited to music than gaming though. I never thought to equalize them, the detail is crazy good also. I prefer them over the Arya which I also have here, on the Arya the upper mids are pushed forward so when Adele hits higher notes she sounds ... With the HE6se there's really nothing wrong with them except they're full size but ultra soft to wear so the weight isn't noticable. I wouldn't recommend these if you don't have a balanced Amp/DAC. I tried it on a JDS Atom stack just to experiment and it wasn't anything special, you just don't get the impact like when they have lots of voltage/current to them on a balanced/XLR setup. My daily driver is a Topping A90 and Topping D10b DAC and would recommend it to anyone. The HE6se is wellworth the price, and probably the last stop before prices go crazy for a sidegrade or a difference you wouldn't notice compared to these.
