Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Food Sensitivities Dry Cat Food is specially formulated for adult cats with nutritional intolerances. Designed to alleviate unwanted skin and digestive issues, this clinically-proven food is ideal for cats with food allergies that cause chronic itching or otitis externa. It can also help reduce symptoms of gastrointestinal disturbances such as colitis or IBD (inflammatory bowel diseases). Food sensitivities and intolerances are often triggered by an abnormal response to protein in the diet, resulting in skin and ear problems or digestive upset. Hill's Prescription Diet z/d addresses these issues by using hydrolysed protein, which is broken down into small parts that the body can still use while minimizing immune system reactions. Additionally, it helps improve the skin barrier and digestion.

My cat has an auto immune disorder. It has to do with skin and food allergies. Without this product my cat would have nothing to eat and would die. Auto immune issues in felines is very difficult to treat.

My Cat Inka, a Bengal cross is extremely happy with this dry food and the wet canned version which she gets a few times a week in supplement to the biscuits. Highly recommended for any cat with digestive tract sensitivities. Her symptoms cleared up immediately after switching and it must be very tasty as she never gets bored of it. Her coat is lovely and shiny. Top stuff and reasonably priced too

I bought this can because Hong Kong doesn't sell the Royal Canin prescription diet my cat used to have in the US. My cat loved this.

This product was purchased for my 12 year old cat, Yo-Dee, who's had IBS for a year now. After trying numerous OTC wet and dry food to control his problem, my Vet suggested using only the Wet form of Z/D. We did and it worked magically to stop the vomiting, however, he was still on an antibiotic, so the diarrhea did not completely go away, but changed consistency (pudding like). I consulted my Vet regarding the Dry form of this food and wondered if maybe the dry food would help the diarrhea condition. He agreed it should have no adverse affect and might help, but sadly it didn't work. Yo-Dee's very watery diarrhea & vomiting returned. The minute I stopped the dry and returned to wet only, his stool changed back to pudding consistency and the vomiting stopped. The minute I stopped the dry and returned to wet only, his stool changed back to pudding consistency and the vomiting stopped. So, I can't fault the dry food for it's quality at all! It's a great product, if your cat can tolerate dry food. Z/D does work for IBS Cats and now after being on it for approx. 4 weeks, the volume of his stool is more normal, but we won't know about the consistency until he gets completely off the antibiotic in 5 days. Since Yo-Dee can not have the Dry Z/D, I fed it to my 2 other cats, who loved it!Regarding the consistency of the Wet Food - some people have written they (human) did not like the consistency of the pate, because it was like a jell. My Yo-Dee can hardly wait for me to get it out of the can and mush it up with a slight amount of water before he starts taking hunks of it and chewing it up. I don't put the whole can out at once. I cut pie shaped slices out, making it approx. 6 servings at a time. When this is gone, I give him more after a few hours. He seems very satisfied and begs me for more when his tummy says it's time to eat.
This product is brilliant for my cat, she is 3 years old and had a skin allergy, she kept scratching until she made herself bleed and was unwell. On the advice ofour Vet we transferred her from tinned wet food to the above dried food. Within a month she started improving and has never looked back.I am also happy with it too, it does not smell like the tinned wet food and there is no mess with it.
My cat Lily was suffering from severe food allergies. I had tried so many limited food ingredient cat foods but none helped her. My vet recommended this brand and I will never turn back. Lily has not only stopped the scratching and rashes but she is clearly thriving on her new diet. She hasn't looked this good in years. I highly recommend this brand!
Since switching to z/d our cat has stopped having eye infections, ear infections, the odd skin problem, and less vomiting. But…The consistency of the food is difficult. We solved that by mixing in water until it’s a broth consistency. Each tin will cover multiple meals. We found best results are to empty the tin into a glass sealable container and storing in the fridge. At feeding, we mix the chilled food portion with boiled water to both warm it and achieve the desired consistency. She now eats every last bit. Also, I recommend alternating z/d wet with z/d dry within the day.For our cat, z/d wet causes her poop to be too soft (almost diarrhea) while the dry causes constipation and straining. Either will cause complications. They won't even touch it (wet or dry), after 3 days. They've been trying to eat the dry dog food instead. One of my cats keeps getting ear infections so we were hoping this may be the fix. The wet food has a consistency of half dried glue almost, sadly.
I was always anti-Science Diet because I believe that an all wet food diet is optimal for cats, and second to that is a grain-free food such as Merrick. However, when my cat developed serious digestive intolerance for fish and poultry, and I learned that a single can of venison costs about $6, my vet suggested Science Diet z/d. She explained that prescription diets like this and its competitor, Royal Canin, are the only types of food one can count on to have no allergens potentially getting into the food. Other brands can offer a limited ingredient diet, but it is possible that they have small amounts of cross-contamination from other flavors the company makes...and even that tiny amount could be causing digestive issues. This solved my cat's issues. I began with the canned version, but she finally tired of eating nothing but that, and was routinely finding ways to steal food off my plate while I was eating! She was that desperate for a different flavor. So I decided to try the dry food, which I serve alongside ground lamb (just from the supermarket, not made for cats). Sure enough, she loved it. She is still currently rejecting the cans. When I read that the dry food had a new formula, I was worried, but it turns out that she likes it even more than the original.
I can really recommend this product. Both of my cats enjoy it, even the fussy one 😃. One of my cats has been struggling with skin problems and I have to say that since she's on a new diet, (Dechra Specific allergy management plus and Hill's z/d food sensitivities dry food), there is a massive improvement!Fantastic service and fast delivery!
