My now 12 years 6 months old cocker spaniel ( Blue Roan) is very fit and well and very very happy. He had a very serious illness that landed him up in Winchester Veterinary Hospital.about 10 years ago and was given One Year !!! The Vets there when he was improving suggested the diet that he has been on ever since he left the hospital. It suits him perfectly. HILLS SENSITIVITIES PRESCRIPTION DIET z/d. It has been a LIFE SAVER for Archie, His weight had been 10.5 kg and went down to 6kg, He is now back to his original 10.5 kg. He is laid back and has the most wonderful temperament and never once has complained. He takes everything that is done to him without any fuss or opposition. How I am ever going to survive without him one day I cannot possibly imagine.

I have a 12 yr old Labradoodle who has Pancreatitis, she is also a fussy eater. I tried many types of low fat dog foods, including home cooked food with raw veggies, but nothing worked, her coat lost it's gloss without any fat in her diet. Then I tried this z/d prescription dog food, both the tinned and the dry kibble and we have never looked back. No more flare ups, no more pain and we discovered that she could tolerate a sardine (her favourite treat) in her food without causing her problems, her coat regained it's previous gloss and she is now a very healthy, lively dog again. She's been on this diet now for about 3 years, at one stage we didn't think she'd make old bones, now she is showing no signs of slowing down. A great result.

He'd love the treats he used to get from us, lots of different human food, but he can't have it. He's such a lovely little fellow with a beautiful nature. So at the moment the ZD is working for him. What I didn't know was there used the be a ZD and a ZD Ultra formula the Ultra being a bit more finally attuned to a dog with Zac's problem, but I couldn't find both. After ringing Hills Science I found out that only one is sold in Australia and that is the Ultra formula but it is marked as ZD. MyPetWarehouse it might be worth noting that in the description of the product.

Highly palatable

My French Bulldog is 11 months old, and has skin symptoms related to an as yet unidentified allergy. My vet recommended a 3 month trial on a prescription hypoallergenic dog food to establish if there is a food allergy, giving a choice of Royal Canin Hypoallergenic or Hills Z/D. At this point, I'm pleased I chose Z/D (11.3kg for $152.99 from Pet Barn), since it's better value for money than the Royal Canin, and my dog absolutely loves the taste. It smells great to my nose too (unlike Black Hawk Puppy, the most disgusting smelling dog food I can think of). I think a 3 month trial on this with no other food or treats is totally feasible. She also recommended Prime100 Kangaroo and Pumpkin, so I bought the air dried stuff to use as treats, and the roll as a topper. Either his skin will be clear in 3 months, and I can begin introducing other proteins to identify the specific allergy, or I can eliminate a food allergy as the cause of his skin condition entirely.

I spoke to my vet as to why the corn starch and she replied
24 September 2022

This food works for my Australian shepard mix who has allergies and no thyroid and has to be supplemented. She doesn't chew on her feet and scratch anymore. After reading other's comments on the corn starch I asked my niece who is a vet. The corn starch provides protein that can be broken down into strands that don't promote allergies. The corn also provides lysine and that's great for the skin. Z/D is certified by AAFCO standards which means it is balanced. I'm glad I asked so that I have more information, as corn gets a bad rap I think. After 6 years of trying to figure out what's wrong with my dog, I now know what's right and this works.

Long trusted

I was a vet tech for years in the 1970’s to 80’s. Hill’s was likely the first prescription diet. There may be others that are good, but I go with what I know. Our 11 y.o. terrierXpoodle was recently diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. We lucked out, first I/D then this, Z/D diet did the trick without the need for steroids. Crossing our fingers it continues to work. And Petco made it easy to pick up in the store and online with repeat delivery.

STRONGLY SUGGEST IF YOUR PET HAS CHRONIC ALLERGIES
29 June 2022

Our vet strongly suggested we switch our pets food to this brand due to chronic allergies and possible food allergy. In less than 2 weeks, my dogs hot spots are clearing up, his skin and coat feel so much better and less scratching! I can only imagine what a whole month of eating this stuff will do. Very expensive but totally worth every penny!

The best dry food for our Bulldog
9 July 2022

We have tried lots of different dog foods for our English Bulldog due to skin allergies. Nothing worked. We then tried Hills z/d and wow what a difference!! Not only did we eliminate the skin problem his coat became so shiny and he looked like a show dog! He has never looked better. When we had issues with supply last year I switched to another dry food for Bulldogs and the allergies came back. He really cannot use any other product.

Works Great!
2 May 2022

I had to get this food for my dog since she is allergic to basically everything. :/ She does love it. However, after a time since it is a bland dry food, we had to add broth to it so that she will eat it on a regular basis. It really does work to keep her allergies at bay, we went through hell trying to find a brand that would work, and feed her the nutrition and protein that she needs since she is a growing puppy. She has been on this for over a year and adding the broth is the only thing that has come up over this time. There is no smell to it like you find in other dry dog foods. Her focus is smaller than our other dog which is about 20lbs! This food has really been a blessing and if you are looking for dry food for your dog that has allergies this is the one!

dog has food allergies and this food was amazing!
12 January 2023

this dog food is crucial for my dogs overall heath. Almost miraculous. As soon as my vet recommended giving it a try, because she suspected food allergies, we got him onto it and withing a month his skin irritation issues and hot spots have for the most part completely disappeared. I buy it by the 25 lb bag only because they don't have it in 50 pound bags.
