I bought this filter because it wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive. I felt like it was a good middle of the road choice, and it turned to be a great product. Pictures taken with the filter are much crisper and the colors are definitely more vibrant and saturated. Haze is also cut down, so it's great to use in a city/urban setting where smog may affect your picture. The metal parts are machined very well, so it screws on nicely and seems to stay tight. I also like the arrow on the filter which shows you the home position - this is very useful to take pics with the filter still installed, but not filtering. No complaints so far!

I don't think you can go wrong with HOYA in general however I'm not so sure the UV/CP combination. I bought this filter for a new lens that required a 72mm rather than the 58mm on my kit lens. It seems to me that the CP effect is not as great on the UV/CP filter. Could be the larger size or the UV or maybe the new lens. My photos are better, but hopefully thats the new lens - it better be for what it costs! I like the combination though - one less piece of glass to clean is a big deal to me. I can recommend this product. ( I'm shooting a Canon 70D)

Works well. The glass quality is excellent and comes on & off easily. Compatible with the lens hood included for my Sony 100-400mm/f4.5-5.6. However, it came loose on its own once & fell the floor, but it survived this 2ft drop intact. Blew off the dust & came back on.

The idea of allowing more light through the filter made me jump at ordering this Cir Pol filter but when I put it to use it's benefit was it's down fall. It's not a strong enough filter for the needs of what I bought it for. I was shooting a black car and was hoping for it to minimize the glare. In a perfect world it would remove it completely but I was expecting that. I would get in position and as I rotated the filter there was an obvious change, however it wasn't across the filter. At no point was there enough polarizing power across the horizon of the filter to take down the glare. I would get about a 20% removal to none at all then back up to the 20%. The KSM B&W for my 100mmL worked better but that's a long lens and I was wanting wide angles. So what's needing to happen now is an insane amount of post to correct this. It seems like a nice idea but if you want to polarize just buy the pro-1 or better yet the KSM from b&w. Oh, and for those of you who have never owned a circular filter before, DO NOT tighten the filter. It makes it nearly impossible to take off since the filter itself spins as you try to unscrew the filter off the lens. I have to be conscious about that every time I put this on.
This filter is used for about 80% of my outdoor shots, works well with blue skies, reflections, typical polarizer use, and I find that it adds a little pop to my color shots. I have no negative comments about this filter, everyone should have one.I would like to say that I used B&H exclusively for all of my film equipment up until about 15 years ago when I opted for point and shoot digital. My purchase of a DSLR 2 years ago has re-acquainted me with B&H and they are still the folks one would want to do business with. Excellent value for the price! Hoya never lets me down. I have mostly 77mm lenses, so it fits almost everything I have. It will darken the sky by (I'm guessing) 2-3 f-stops when used perpendicularly to the sun, and has a "wider" area of effectiveness than some of the cheaper ones, meaning that the unaffacted brighter area around the edge of the frame where the sky is, is smaller than my previous CP. It also cuts through water and reflection very well, and increases saturation nicely. Would absolutely recommend! A kust have for any photographer's toolbox.
I am preparing to do some outdoor photos and anticipated needing a polarizing filter. This has worked well for me. I had some trouble getting it threaded onto the lens, but a little patience and moving slowing got it done. The filter rotates easily once it is mounted on the lens. I am pleased with the polarizing effect after running a few test shots.
First I would like to say thank you Hoya for this filter and thank you B&H for you all services shipping all the way from US to where I live somewhere in asia. This filter is superb. All I can tell when you put on your hands you know its a high quality built. Talk about it functions UV and polarize filter. Its have same quality as a Hoya HD3 expensive filter in-term of circular polarizer. All I can say every photographer should have.
