Hoya 82mm HRT Circular Polarizer UV Filter, Polarizers, Aluminum
Uses a high rate transmission polarizing film Reduces exposure 1.1 Stops The glass absorbs ultra-violet (UV) rays to improve contrast and color These filters offer both amateur and professional photographers HOYA's famous quality at reasonable prices. They have coatings applied to both surfaces to suppress reflection and increase light transmission. The HOYA HRT circular polarizer filter uses a newly developed High-Rate Transparency film that passes more visible light through the filter while still filtering the same amount of polarized light, this means it can transmit as much as 25% more light through the polarizing film giving the photographer about 1/3 stop more light than a standard circular polarizer. This new polarizing film is also used in the latest HD LCD TVs. The glass of the HOYA HRT filter also has UV absorbing properties making the HRT a combination UV & Circular Polarizing filter. The most common use for a circular polarizer filter is to darken bright blue skies in outdoor photography, but they can also reduce or eliminate reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as glass and water. By rotating the outer ring of the filter the change of effect can be seen by looking though the filter or through the viewfinder if it is mounted on a camera. HOYA is the world's largest optical glass manufacturer, producing glass to specification for almost every camera and lens manufacturer. HOYA is also the world's largest optical filter manufacturer.

We are a professional wedding and event photography company. For years we have been using mid-priced (mid-grade) glass, and were happy with the results. Until, that is, we put one of these on our lenses. Wow, there is a world of difference, depth, and clarity awaiting anyone with Hoya glass on their lens!

I use a polarizer filter often for landscape photos. This is a very good filter for the money. I have several Hoya filters and will likely have more.

Trip got cancelled so I didn?t get to use it yet. But I know it?ll do the job because I?ve used Hoya filters before and they?ve been great products.
Replacing an old (25+ yo) Hoya CP, and can say if you need one, you can’t go wrong with the Hoya brand. I highly recommend this filter!
Works great reducing reflections in glass and improving image quality. Awesome for the money, in factory assistant now wants one too.
This filter works great on the 70-200mm size 77mm 2.8 but the 82mm on a 16-35 2.8 there is distortion and you can see a vertical line while shooting. The line doesn’t seem to show up in the image but it is distracting while photographing.
Not sure what to say here. I like it; it works; it polarizes; it is affordable!
Constructed well, seemed solid, ring felt good. The problem was with the actual optics of it. I shoot architectural photography and bought this for a recent shoot. It was atrocious. It was optically very clear, but the actual degree to which it polarized was non existent. Is suspect he polarizing layer in the glass may be defective. It also created horrible flares and ghosting with any light source present. I ended up returning it to B&H who has amazing customer service. I will probably just man up and spend the 2-300 for a solid B+W or Zeiss.
Overall a good filter. Does a great job reducing glares. Unfortunately it does cause some vignetting in the corners of pictures.
