I have been using HP Printers for something like 30 years, which indicates that (with occasional exceptions) I have had good experiences with HP. Before I acquired the HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e, I was using the HP OfficeJet 8034e and the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 in different rooms. The latter died after almost exactly five years of use, which is why I acquired the 9130e.The new 9130e is physically very similar to the older 9015, except that it has two paper trays, both of which slide in and out much easier than with the 9015 and 8034e. Paper is much easier to load in the 9130e than the 8034e and 9015, which required removal of the output tray every time I added paper—and this never seemed to go smoothly. Paper is much easier to load in the 9130e than the 8034e and 9015, which required removal of the output tray every time I added paper—and this never seemed to go smoothly. The setup process is also similar. Written instructions indicated that I should scan a QR code to access online instructions. When I did so, the procedure had me go back and forth between the online instructions and instructions on the LCD panel on the computer. At one point, I was told to download the HP Smart App (which I already had on my phone) to help with the setup. Using four sets of instructions (written, online, LCD, phone app) for setup sounds complicated, but it is not. The instructions were easy to follow. I compared my experience to what I had written about the 9015 setup, and setup was much smoother this time. Setup with the older HP printer required downloading and installing two APK files on my phone, and the setup hung until I unplugged my Ethernet cable. With the newer HP 9130c, everything about the setup was much smoother, with one exception. The exception involved the new design of the ink cartridges. With all my older HP printers, I could tell when the ink cartridges were properly installed because they clicked into place. You could literally hear a clicking sound, and the cartridge would not move around unless you ejected it. With the new cartridges for the 9130c, there was no audible click. And there was a spongey feeling as I inserted the cartridges, so I could not tell if I had pushed them in all the way. (There is a visible spring responsible for the spongey feeling.) After I thought I had all four cartridges installed correctly and I closed the cartridge access door, the LCD told me that the yellow and black cartridges were not installed properly. On opening the door, I could see no visible difference between the cartridges. They all lined up; it wasn't like the yellow and black cartridges were sticking out. It took several tries of pushing in harder on these cartridges before the LCD panel said they were installed correctly. And then when I tried to proceed, the LCD panel told me that the cartridge carriage was hung up. I opened the access door, jiggled the carriage a little, and then everything seemed to be okay. I sailed through the rest of the setup, and the printer has been printing just fine since the initial setup. One odd thing about all the HP printers I've owned is that they vibrate intensely while printing. If I could post videos with this review, I would show that the printer literally makes the wooden two-drawer file cabinet that I placed it on sway back and forth as it prints out pages. I was hoping the 9130e might print less vigorously than the 9015, but it does not. Not a deal-breaker, and you might not notice the vibration if your printer is on a very solid surface. The HP Smart app continues to provide useful functions for a phone such as scanning, copying, faxing (at extra cost after a free trial), and, of course, printing. You can also check the status of your ink with the app, although oddly this is accomplished by linking to the HP website. I doubted the usefulness of the app with my previous printer, but I now think that this app is indispensable. And on my laptop, there is no excessive bloatware that came with older HP printers back in the days of Windows XP.One of the best things about HP printers is the instant ink system, which allows you to purchase ink cartridge replacements based on the number of pages you print. When I was new to this system, I was very leery and was not sure I was really getting a better deal with instant ink. But I learned over the years that it really is more convenient and less expensive than buying ink cartridges when they run out. HP monitors page and ink usage over the Internet and automatically sends new cartridges when I need them. And if I find that I will be printing fewer pages than usual (or more, like with Christmas letters), I can easily change my subscription online. I'm totally sold on instant ink and can heartily recommend this program as well as the HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e.

However, there were some CONS: setup with wifi/bluetooth was NOT easy - the wifi took repeated attempts over various prompted methods to complete and was frustrating (the digital promptings via the app were user friendly, they just didn't work). Also, the alignment printing upon set-up failed multiple times and requ;ired us to re-do the set-up process 4 times before it would print correctly. Other than these set-up issues, the actual use of the printer is easy and icon based with a simple touchscreen that even my 9 year old can navigate easily for his writing projects! Seriously, this printer has… a nice snappy screen? As far as printing on your desktop/laptop, there is a dedicated desktop app that is as effortless as the app and gives you some more options but…none that I was missing in the mobile app.As far as metrics are concerned, it prints at 25 ppm black and 20 ppm color which translates to fast enough. I didn’t clock the time on it but it printed faster than I could find the next document to print and allows you to que prints if it is a rather involved print. It printed photos well, and only showed some scanning lines on full page images. I really enjoyed the large 250pg storage and double sided printing and scanning for my lecture notes and slides.HP touts their built in wolf pro security features, which is not something that I am nessicarly worried about. That being said, apparently, HP will brick your printer if you don’t use HP branded ink moving forward for reasons that are not entirely logical. This bums me out as paying $50 every couple months when I am currently paying around half or less of that for ‘security’ features I am not interested in. This is at home in my office, HP states that the reason is that non HP branded ink is banned is due to the fact that you can have a security breach on unauthorized cartridges containing malware….sure. Anyways, back on track here, the printer does use 40% recycled plastic making this printer which is something I want to see more of.To round this out, I would look at the cost for ink vs the amount you use the printer to see if this one is cost effective for you…if it is then I have to say this is by far the best printer I have ever used with a screen that is exceptionally way to good for this printer. Seriously, the engineers and app devs are on a MISSION at HP to make the best printer ever, and it is obvious they use the products they make as every bug or flaw that could pop up…just doesn’t exist. The best part of the whole thing is, when you buy this at best buy… you never have to worry about getting a bad product, Best Buy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out?!

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e is incredibly simple to set up onto your network using the HP Smart application for MacOS. I did not trial this product out on a Windows machine so I don't have much to offer for that operating system. The wifi set up process was all done through the HP Smart application on my computer and went relatively seamlessly. For an inkjet printer, this machine actually spits out prints fairly quickly - it's rated to be able to produce 20-25 pages/minute for color and monochromatic printing, respectively. Printer resolution can be changed but the maximum is 1200x1200 for monochromatic and 4800x1200 for color printing. These are plenty sufficient specifications for a simple printer. I should note that I don't intend to use this for photo printing, so super high quality printing isn't of important to me. I'm only using one of the two paper trays available but it's nice that there are options as you can load two different sizes of paper and choose between the two, as necessary. There's also an auto feeder on top for quick copying. The printer is equipped to be able to do double-sided printing as well, which is a convenient feature for a printer this small in stature. There's a small 4.3" LCD screen on the printer itself to navigate through various settings and to use the scanner/fax options. There's also a USB port available to print directly from an external storage device. My main concern came up when I opened up the (included) ink cartridges - HP offers 3 months of Instant Ink included with the HP+ subscription plan - a monthly payment plan that starts getting charged after 3 months. I believe the perk is that you get ink delivered (within 10 days) when you run low on ink. Though, the supposed benefit is that you "only pay for pages printer, not the amount of ink you use. Color costs the same as black & white." Something about this feels odd and changes my mindset of HOW I want to pay for ink- if anything, it sort of forces you to look at the quantity and frequency of your printing to better estimate if the subscription service is right for you or if you should purchase the refills a la carte. Taking a quick look at prices online for ink refills - a full set (all four colors) is currently going for $125 (February 2024), with the black being capable of 1450 pages and 800 pages per color. The recommended subscription is for 100 pages/mo at $6.99/mo, which comes out to be more affordable. For example 800 pages of color printing would cost $125 (all four cartridges) vs. 800 pages of color printing on the subscription would be $56 (for whichever cartridges need refilling). What I personally don't want is to add on ANOTHER subscription service in my life so I'd probably opt for the a la carte option, which would theoretically be at a higher cost to me; though, I won't have to worry about ongoing payments.

Having the extra storage space helped me avoid finding out something didn't print due to running out of pages midway through a packet of worksheets and having to refill the trays often. When everything works well, it really is a great printer. The problem I've had is that I’ve had constant issues when trying to print from Android devices and at times from Windows computers. I did not have any issues printing from Apple devices (looks like it is targeted for Apple devices). After spending some time troubleshooting, changing settings, and resetting the printer, I continued to have issues printing from my Android phone (as well as other Android devices).Overall, I wanted to like this printer but with the several issues I encountered, I ended up continuing to use an older printer. The HP 9135e has many neat features and was easy to use on my Apple devices. I wish I was able to use it on all of my devices though.
The HP officejet pro 9135 e wireless all-in-one inkjet printer is an excellent, affordable piece of hardware for your small to mid size office. Especially when compared against IT and print subscription services, this is such a great price.First off, right out of the box, it struck me how large the paper storage trays were, and that there were two of them. A larger storage tray means that you run out of paper less often, and can focus more on doing work.Double-sided printing and scanning give this the full gamut of capabilities that a typical small to mid size office would need.Color print jobs looked amazing, even just on standard paper. Although the photo paper quality was even more impressive. The HP SmartApp allows you to print remotely, as well as share scans, etc. You can also set up the printer to automatically send scans to a network folder, an email address, or even a cloud drive. This allows for amazing workflows, especially at any businesses that require lots of scanning, such as mini law firms. This device can make ediscovery scanning and placement on network drives incredibly simple. There is a printer ink service that you can subscribe to, which is great and convenient if you have an overcast office manager. It's also great for when you always need the highest quality of prints. Is the lack of ability to use generic ink. While this doesn't suit every use case, being able to use generic ink can save a lot of money for businesses and individuals who do a lot of printing. That said, HP touts that using this printer a black and white page is about a penny to print in ink, and the color pages about 16 cents. You can use those figures to help determine if this is the right printer for you, but also, if you have this printer, use those numbers for larger print jobs to determine if you need to take that job to a print shop or can just use this printer.
I have rarely been as excited for something as I was for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e Wireless All-In-One Color Printer, which I received gratis from the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for my honest review. For someone who works from home and does a lot of writing and proofreading, a fast, effective, and multifunctional printer is essential. So, the utility of a multifunctional printer with print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities is a critical asset to my everyday life.First: kudos to HP for the unboxing situation. Often when every inch is taken up with packing material to keep machines from moving too much, it is a struggle to get that out of the box. HP put it all in a thin, convenient bag with handles to make popping the machine out of the box such an easy experience. I haven't seen that with other large electronics I've purchased.Setup was generally a breeze. From connecting to the Wi-Fi to installing the drivers to running the test page, the written quick setup instructions and the machine-driven instructions made it extremely simple, and I was printing in no time. One thing to note was I didn't need to scan immediately, and it wasn't clear to me during the initial setup that scanning requires a separate download package. Query why it all can't be integrated into a single system, but ultimately, it's not a big deal and it didn’t degrade quality, just convenience. It just wasn't made clear that this separate process was required, and it took me a bit to get it accomplished when I needed to be scanning documents. One of my other favorite aspects of the printer is the touchscreen display. The graphics and text are easy to navigate and understand. As for usage, this machine is fast. Maybe I'm just used to my old printer, but I mean FAST. I had multiple pages, front and back, printed and scanned in seconds. I love that in such a (relatively) small package there are single and multiple-page input options and multiple paper trays. I will say that the first time I used the multiple-page input tray for scanning, the printer essentially quit on me. I couldn't turn it off; I couldn't make it do anything; it was not responsive in any way. I had to unplug the machine to get to work. I've not had the issue since, but I actually thought I broke it by day 3, and from a reliability standpoint, I will probably be worried about it coming up again, but it hasn’t happened yet.As noted above, it isn't the smallest machine, but my home office needs require the functionality that only comes in larger machines. That said, it is not excessively big. I would have expected a bigger unit for the bells and whistles included in this machine. And the Instant Ink option is fantastic! I love all smart features and include them wherever I can in my home, so the fact that the machine can tell when my ink levels are low enough that a reorder is needed, and it does that for me is great. Shopping for ink is up there on the list of things no one enjoys. A delivery has already shown up at my door, and I’m waiting for another soon.In sum, while there have been some areas for improvement, overall, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e Wireless All-In-One Color Printer is already an invaluable part of my home office.
I recently had the chance to upgrade my old HP printer to the HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e and it has exceeded my expectations with its array of features that cater to both productivity and convenience, making it a standout option in its category. The setup for this printer is by far one of the easiest wireless setups I have come across to date.Setting it up on my network was a breeze, just download the HP smart app from your app store on your phone or laptop on the windows store or the app store for Mac and add a new device and follow the steps and you are ready to go.the ability to print seamlessly from multiple devices, including my smartphone, Desktop, tablets, and laptop adds a level of flexibility that simplifies my workflow. No longer am I having to forward ... As someone who has to print documents that can be up to 100 pages the printing speed ensures that I don't have to wait around for my documents, and the print quality is consistently sharp and clear with so far no smearing or ink bleed on the pages. The inclusion of automatic double-sided printing is a noteworthy feature, saving me a ton of time not having to take the page out and flip it back into the feeder like I had to do with my old printer. As someone who also mails out a lot of envelopes, tray 1 has the ability to print envelopes and can hold up to 20+ envelopes at a time has saved me a ton of time in my work process and not having to worry about individually loading one envelope at a time like I also had to do with my old printer. The scanner and copier provides high-resolution scans and copies with speed and ease. The automatic document feeder (ADF) is a valuable addition, allowing for efficient scanning or copying of multiple pages at once. The touchscreen control panel is user-friendly and responsive, making it simple to navigate through the various functions and settings. The only real negative thing I encountered was the installation of the ink cartridges, in that it uses a spring system to load the ink, where I had issues with the ink cartridges not fully seating in causing it to get stuck and had to forcibly pull the ink cartridge back to reseat it and it finally clicked in after some force and I havent had an issues since.Overall the HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e Wireless All-in-One Printer has proven to be a valuable asset to my home office. Its combination of wireless connectivity, fast printing, and ADF scanning make it a top contender in the realm of all-in-one printers. You can not go wrong with this printer and I highly recommend this printer for all your printing and copying needs.
I love HP OfficeJet Pro printers. I’ve used some kind of HP InkJet Printer for as long as I can remember after dot matrix went away, and once they went to Mulfi-Function Printers with Scanners, Fax and Feed Copying, they really did everything I needed as a student, young professional and now head of household. The OfficeJet Pro 9135e is a solid update to the 9025e I have been using the last few years. There’s not a whole lot of difference in appearance other than the LCD screen is quite a bit larger and it feels and looks snappier and more vibrant. The other major improvement I saw was the set-up experience. They’ve really updated the onboarding experience by making it Phone App driven with the HP Smart App. It very much feels like a smart device experience now. ... MoreI love HP OfficeJet Pro printers. Once you download the app, it automatically finds your local WiFi and sends the password you type in via BlueTooth. Then it does all the IP and network discovery from Printer to Phone App and lets you control and monitor the Printer with useful info like paper and ink levels. After connecting the Printer to WiFi, provided you have network discovery enabled on your home PCs, the Printer was detected and added in seconds without any need to download printer drivers (thank you HP for FINALLY making a universal driver package that works!).If you need to, you can still access the admin console by punching the printer’s IP address into a browser address bar. if you try to access anything you will be asked to enter the PIN# in the cartridge access area of the printer which serves as its default password. Again, you’ll notice here there’s a bit of a facelift in the GUI compared to older interfaces. This is also where you’ll want to set up more advanced features like scan to email if you are using this as an office printer instead of a home office printer. The only negative thing I ran into is that HP really tries to push you into signing up for HP+ and prompts you to set something up about 10x which is pretty annoying. It’s one of those subscriptions that are free at first, but auto-bill you if you don’t cancel, so that’s kind of annoying. This could be great for folks who print a lot, but I really don’t, if anything I print to PDF as much as possible and store or email documents digitally. But, sometimes you do need to print and I usually just buy 936 cartridges (same as my 9025e) every few years. HP does also say if you don’t use genuine HP cartridges and chips, your chips may stop working after firmware updates, so keep that in mind.Again, minor issue given I print so infrequently but something to be aware of. Otherwise, the scanner is great, the copy function works great so everything else feels familiar and probably slightly improved. Oh and the build quality is slightly better I’d say than the 9025e, which I thought was slightly more flimsy than the 9025. The printer trays also have a lock in place type mechanism too which is nice.So again, no major surprises here, if you love HP OfficeJet products this is the best one under $500 yet, even better remote and mobile functionality and feels faster than before. I’m using it connected only wirelessly with no hard wire connected to my mesh network and it works great, really enjoying it and even during set-up, I didn’t need to connect a network cable.

So far, all of the projects I have used my printer for are business/job related to track my progress in my business since I am a pen and paper/ check the box kind of gal!The printer was so easy to set up! I followed the QR code and it led me to a website and app where I followed the step by step simple instructions on how to set up my printer. I have set up my printer in my office in my home. I have a 16 month old, so I get a lot of my work done in my office during her naps and as for the rest of the day I work mainly from my phone and have enjoyed being able to send documents to print from my phone to my printer; no matter where I am in my home. Initially, I had set up my printer on the floor next to my desk, plugged in. Now, I have made a space for the printer to live on my desk and it all looks so nice. It is also easy to use, whether you print and copy from the touch panel or print from the app or printing option on the phone.I am using this printer for myself. However, since it is in our home my husband has enjoyed printing from it as well. I have shared it with my husband from time to time when he needs to print something at home instead of at his work place. The convenience of being able to print anything from home has been nice for the both of us. My husband has also really liked using this printer. He likes the ease of being able to print from his phone in color or black and white. The documents all come out looking so nice, exactly the way they are viewed on our phone. We have agreed that this printer makes our lives easier and truly does it all that we need it to!My favorite feature of the printer is being able to print documents in color from my phone and make copies in color or in black & white. I like the simple touch screen panel which has all of the user friendly printing/copy/scan/faxing options I have needed and will need to use as I continue to work from home and be a homemaker. In fact, I look forward to printing a new sourdough recipe I just found and scanning it to my computer to save for when I make my next sourdough loaf.
