My review is primarily based on my warzone PC playing experience.That being said, if you primarily play Warzone, there is no headset that provides the amount of footstep volume as this.I tried current gen ASTRO TR40 w/ mixamp and HyperX Cloud Orbit S which are both $150 more and in Warzone, not as good in regards to footsteps. The footstep audio these provide at distance surpass both of the previously mentioned headphones.To make it even better I highly suggest spending the extra $15 (lifetime?) for the Dolby Atmos subscription as I think it helped clear up a lot of the sound quality issues that people complained about. Prior to using the atmos service, I also found that some of the audio was trash in game and music was terrible. I feel the atmos app solved ... I bought this a month or so ago and it is really amazing and great headset to have. They come with 2 different ear covers leather and something else but personally the 'something else' to me is way cooler as it is breathable and does not suffocate your ear. But the leather is great for not letting sound escape. The surround sound works amazing and the fact you can lower peoples volumes or the game from the controller in the cable is handy and awesome. The headset is a fingerprint magnet especially for black you can see your oily fingers where they touched but a cloth easily removes that. The headset is really comfortable and no pressure compared to other headsets I own. The cable is also incredibly long so if you like incredibly long cables this is for you. Quality ... I love these headphones, but after years I have moved onto the Logitech g pro x . Having bought 2 pairs of these Hyper X I must say the 7.1 is disappointing to say the least, it is hardly usable in most applications. I will say the mixing interface provided is very handy when playing loud games and need to hear teammates better or vice versa. I do like the bass adjustment switches on the earphones, but thats something that can be done passively through software instead of a physical interface. G-hub has a built in eq that links up with the headset immediately and saves each preset eq/custom settings to each profile. As in whatever game or application is running it will switch to that eq profile, Very useful. Sadly, I waited for hyper x to release something like this ... The HyperX Cloud Alpha S headset is by far the best headset I have ever owned. From comfortability to overall performance of the headset. I play FP shooters and battle royal game types, audio is crucial. So I can say you can clearly hear all footsteps even crouch walkers. The headset comes with a mixer, it helps when I need to quickly turn down the game volume when it picks up in action. Or when I need to hear my teammates more I make the voice chat audio more balanced than higher game volume. I am by far impressed with the technology Hyper X has to offer to the public! Thanks for creating arguable the best gaming headset on the market at a VERY reasonable price point.
Honestly surprised by Hyper X. I had tested out the Steelseries arctis pros and arctis 7s aswell as the Logitec flagship model going for 200$ and they all sounded flat and didnt have much Bass to them. The logitec did have more bass than steelseries but these Hyper X Cloud Alpha S headphones are Fantastic their mids highs and lows all come in sounding ultra crispy and very well balanced out of the box! The ability to go open back or closed back is fantastic and for a trained ear you can hear the difference. Most of the reviews on here say they cant hear a difference and it almost made me turn away from them until I tried them myself. If your on the fence and are looking at the 200$ steel series models or logitec flagship models save the extra 70$ and get these. The ... MoreHonestly surprised by Hyper X. The 7.1 virtual works great with windows DTS headphone:X the spacial audio on these are very good for FPS games and the ability to go open back and get more bass has made my music listening experience improve 10 fold. Im hearing things in music ive never heard before and its almost like listening to a song for the first time. All my gaming buddies say my voice is alot clearer than my previous headset so that tells me the mic is a difinitive upgrade over my previous set, For reference I had hyper x Cloud cores that lasted me about 5 years and they still work but the sound quality was diminishing due to age but I loved them Another thing I have to say about hyper x headphones is the comfortability and durability I dont think I could break a hyper x headset if I wanted to these babies are tough! On the comfortability side nothing beats hyper X if you suffer from headaches from headphones hyper X headphones are the only ones I can sit and game for 8 hours with no pain. I spent days looking at headphones and im glad I chose these. hyper X has never let me down. Highly reccomend them if a pair of 200$+ headphones is a hard pill to swallow for you.
Not bad sound quality mic quality isn’t bad either but they feel cheap to much plastic. Attached non removable headphone cord makes noise in the ear cup when it rubs on clothing etc that’s why detachable one’s are better. The in-line controls are alright. Changing ear cups on this is a skill you need to acquire it is not easily done at all enjoy 5-10 mins per ear cup. Comfort is alright until about 2 hours of gaming for me. I got these as my Astro A40s got lost in a flight luggage and yea they are in no shape or form anywhere near that quality im used to. The cups are soft and all but after 2 hours it’s just a lot of pressure the Astro’s I could wear all day and when removed I don’t feel like I’ve been wearing a headset all day. Returning these for a new Astro pair.
I bought this headset as a replacement for my Razer Kraken's that are starting to fall apart, and ended up returning it. I'm giving it 2 stars because it was comfortable (the main reason I really wanted to replace the Krakens, they feel very stiff.) However, its functionality as a headset was not up to par. The main issue, and also a fault in its main purpose of being a headset, was the microphone just simply did not adequately work. At a normal place for me to adjust the mic, Windows was registering it at a 2% input volume. At the same distant, the Kraken always registered at 100%. With the mic actually in my mouth, I could only get it up to a 50% volume. Better, and actually audible to my friends, but not exactly the most comfortable position for a mic. The other ... Despite an expectation of 1 day response, it took almost a week to even get a response (which didn't even happen until after I returned them because I was on my last day to return), and the response was a generic "Did you try them with a another computer?".

I loved my Cloud II's. And maybe those are still good headphones. But I would avoid these like the plague.

I’ve always had an issue with heavy headphones that hurt my head and ears and get me hot.These do have weight and can become warm after much use in the warmer seasons but the ear muffs are pretty comfortable and the band doesn’t squeeze my head like a vice.Also comes with headphone software for pc to help deliver better sound.A must have for competitive gameplay where every small sound is crucial. Music sounds ok but these aren’t for that.I use them also to edit videos and they do help a great deal with the audio portions
