I just received my JEM7VP today and I am very happy with AMS customer service and shipping. At first when I noticed it was shipping via ground, I was like great, this thing is going to go through 4-5 hubs, transfer from one truck to another and was concerned about damage. Boy was I wrong, the guitar was doubled boxed, inside a very nice gig bag and arrived flawless. Absolute pristine condition! Thank you AMS!Now for the guitar, it was lighter than expected and the over all craftsmanship is amazing! Like one other reviewer stated, if you can't drop $3k on the Japanese model, the JEM7VP will make your jaw drop! It's stunning and very beautiful. This model will not disappoint you.If you happened to notice that there was 3 in stock just a few days ago and now stock ... MoreI just received my JEM7VP today and I am very happy with AMS customer service and shipping. Let me start by saying that this guitar will not let you down. I can without a doubt say that this is my best sounding and visually appealing electric that I myself own. I am no professional by any means but I've been playing for awhile now and with ten different guitars in my arsenal this one takes the cake. Just by playing simple melodies or nursery rhymes on it will bring pleasure to your body as it's sound resonates with you.
I recently got this Premium model from ebay, but I ordered the 30th Anniversary Ibanez JEM777LG from AMS. Thank You AMS! I was leary about the Premium JEM 7VWHP largely because there just isn't a whole lot of video reviews on this model. I have to say that when I did receive my JEM 7VWH Premium, I was impressed with the quality of this instrument. I used to own a 2012 Ibanez JEM 7VWH, so I can honestly compare the two. I sold my 2012 JEM 7VWH because I had such a hard time keeping it in tune and to top it off, my volume knob froze. Fortunately it got stuck in the "10" position. I have had a few JEM's and the Universe 77MC (ATD Swirl) but sold them to buy a Veleno Aluminum guitar. Anyway, I compared the Premium to my 30th Anniversary and there is a weight difference. ... MoreI recently got this Premium model from ebay, but I ordered the 30th Anniversary Ibanez JEM777LG from AMS. The Premium is considerably heavier and the tone is darker sounding. My 3oth Anniversary also has a slightly thinner neck profile, but the profile on the Premium feels very nice as well. I'm glad Ibanez decided to make the back of the neck a satin finish. I believe the JEM 70V-SFG has the entire neck with a glossy poly finish, which I hate. I have the Premium action set very low, but had to shim the G sting saddle because it was getting choked, so that fixed the problem. I am thinking of installing a titanium big block to brighten up and give more presence to the tone to sound closer to my 30th Anniversary. The main reason why I got the JEM 7VWH Premium was for gigging. I'm sick and tired of my 30th Anniversary getting chipped up. So, since this guitar is a professional model guitar, the price makes it easier to handle the dings and chips of gigging. I highly recommend this Premium JEM 7VWH for those of us who what a white Steve Vai JEM, but can't or don't want to dish out 3 Grand for the guitar.
Well, This guitar has really grown on me the last couple of months. I have mad a few minor adjustments since I got it. I love the pickups and especially love the Edge bridge. I can do many more subtle things with this than I ever could with an original Floyd Rose, thanks to the pop in bar. This guitar does seem like it is a lot of money for an Indonesian made guitar, but in actuality is actually priced well. Just remember that , like every other guitar out there, may need to be set up by a pro.One thing that I feel is a plus with this guitar is that it doesn’t have the last four frets scalloped like the Japanese ones.
When I received the guitar, I thought it was beautiful. That was the end of the pros for this product. It was so badly set up from the factory that the D string was barely hanging on to the bridge. I tuned it up and played about three notes before I realized it was out of tune AGAIN. After this happening over and over I finally gave up and took it to the local luthier and it cost me $60 to get it properly set up. For a guitar in this price range the least you should be able to expect is that the guitar would be set up properly from the factory. It's a beautiful guitar but way overpriced. Even as pretty as it is it feels cheap, sorta plastic feeling. If you have never had a bridge/tremolo like this before you might want to reconsider. I thought about sending it back ... MoreWhen I received the guitar, I thought it was beautiful. That was the end of the pros for this product. To be honest, I bought this guitar to gig with. Having owned a few JEM's and currently own and play a 30th Anniversary Ibanez JEM 777LG, I got tired of taking my 30th Anniversary to gigs and having it chipped up. It was starting to make me sick to see that beautiful guitar getting banged up. I've always wanted the first 1987 Loch Ness Green model, but missed out on it and settled for the Desert Sun Yellow JEM 777. So, when they reissued that model in 2017, I jumped on it. I used to own a 2010 or 2011 Team J Craft JEM 7VWh. I loved the way it played but had a hard time keeping it in tune. So, I sold it to buy the USA EVH Wolfgang. When Ibanez released the JEM 7VWH in a premium model, I figured that is my solution to replace my 30th Anniversary JEM 777LG for gigging. ... MoreTo be honest, I bought this guitar to gig with. When Ibanez released the JEM 7VWH in a premium model, I figured that is my solution to replace my 30th Anniversary JEM 777LG for gigging. The Premium JEM 7V 1P-01 is a fantastic JEM model. Ibanez is very consistent in their production guitars and they did not disappoint with this Premium JEM. It's hard to believe the Premium JEM 7V has an Ebony fretboard. Where as the high end JEM 7VWH model's have Rosewood. In my book, Ebony is a big plus! The Premium has the same DiMarzio Evolution pickups, Ibanez Edge tremolo and Alder body as the high end JEM 7VWH. I'm assuming that even if the body is Alder, it's probably not a one piece body. But, I've heard and read that really doesn't make a big difference anyway. The neck profile seems to be a little beefy compared to my 30th Anniversary, but not significantly. The tone is a little darker as well, plus a little heavier than my 30th Anniversary. I'm leaning towards installing a Titanium Sustain Big Block on the tremolo to brighten it up and give it a little more presence. Other than that, it feels good in my fretting hand and is fun to play. If you can't afford or just don't want to lay down serious coin for the 3 Grand JEM 7VWH, I highly recommend this Premium model. One more thing, the guitar was shipped to me and unfortunately with some damage to the body. A pretty big chip by the tone knob, so I think I'm going to relic it as a tribute to Steve Vai's Evo. The most famous of all the Ibanez JEM's.
Overall:I've had the JEM now for about 6 months, I sold a Charvel (mex) to get it - all I can say is that the JEM continues to impress me with every aspect of what a great guitar should be. I'm not a shredder so I changed the stock pickups over to the PIA set. This is the 1st time I have fallen in love with Dimarzio Pickups (and I'm very picky). All of my other guitars have Bare Knuckle pups to deliver what I need. The JEM with the PIA pups is the most versatile guitar I own while at the same time being a top performer. The factory set up is super (and I'm a guitar tech in Austin, Tx). The stock pups are awesome if you want to cut through the mix. However, if you give them time to break in, they start sounding warmer and very playable. However, if you give them time to break in, they start sounding warmer and very playable. I'm not selling them because they are great and I may want to switch back at some point. The features of this guitar are superb, esp for the $. I find this guitar to be very well balanced in all aspects and the neck is like no other neck out there. It is so solid and does not go out of tune when changing weather conditions come around. tonally, it's so versatile (with either pup set). The playability is what I like - I have a bad case of Ullner nerve issues adn I can play the JEM for long periods of time (3 - 4 hour gigs). I can't say that about the rest of my guitars. I did not think I would like the Edge trem but, I have learned how good it is. I do recommend the optional Carbon trem arm because of the stability improvements with it.
Ordered a guitar which was one I’d always wanted since a teen. Turned up in good time and in perfect condition. Set up well and still in tune. Very happy with my purchase.Every bit as amazing as I expected and more.
