Icebreaker Anatomica SS Crewe (Men's) Black / XXL

(944 reviews)

Icebreaker Anatomica S/S Crewe Merino base layer Men (XXL, black) - The Anatomica S/S Crewe from Icebreaker features a blend of merino wool and synthetic fibre. This makes the functional shirt comfortable, even in warm temperatures and during strenuous activities. The material combination improves the drying properties of the merino wool, but the T-shirt will also retain its natural functional properties. The merino base layer is temperature-regulating, breathable, and doesn't absorb unpleasant odours. Icebreaker gave this T-shirt a nice form-fitting cut. All of its seams are flat, and the elastic component gives it the necessary stretch. The Anatomica S/S Crewe from Icebreaker is a highly-functional base layer for the entire year!

Good Undershirt - Slim Fit - Off White

I bought a few of these to go under my uniform shirts. They work well for wicking away moisture. I'm 5'10 145 lbs and they fit true to size if not ever so slightly small. Length is good and can stay tucked in without a problem. The colour is less white than I expected and more off white/cream colour. Overall great shirt. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high performance athletic fit undershirt/base layer and would recommend sizing up if you don't like a tight fit.

Great lightweight Tee

I'm on my third set of Anatomica tees. I use them as a base layer under winter cycling gear, as a closest to skin layer skiing, and sometimes below a dressy sweater of an evening. For a lightweight item, they are pretty robust. I wash on a medium cycle and then air dry on a rack (key, I think).I'm 6'6", 225, and an XXL is a close to skin fit with good body length.

Meant as a baselayer, I wear these as a T-shirt because I love the long slim fit. I am normally a size large in tshirts, but am a perfect XL in this when worn as a tshirt. That gives me some extra length while still fitting fairly slim. The off-white colour really suits my taste. I highly recommend these for someone tall and slim. The softness of the wool is pretty good compared to other wool shirt I've tried. I tend to wear these on slightly cooler summer days. But also plan to use it over a turtleneck this winter to keep my core warm.

Nice undershirts
13 December 2023

Fit well. I read the recommendation from previous reviews to size up from expected given they can fit a little small. Not necessarily true as I’m kind of between L and XL. Nonetheless, happy with the XL. Comfortable, soft. Suppress odour. Haven’t owned it long enough to comment on longevity really. These are way better than the basic undershirts I have been wearing to work for years but also way more expensive. Whether I buy more or not will really depend on how long they last.

Perfect versatile undershirt!
9 November 2022

This short sleeve shirt is a perfect undershirt, or it can be used as a t-shirt if you want to show off! :) It fits and contours your shape perfectly without feeling tight. For example, I am 5'7", 140 lbs., 28" waist, 38" shoulders and big chest. I went for a small and it is perfect. It also comes in black which looks very nice and can definitely be worn as a t-shirt. I also use it as an under tee-shirt at the gym and it keeps me warm, even when getting sweaty after a round of intense cardio. Although it is also very light, it keeps its shape after many uses and gentle washes in cold water as it is well fabricated.

Room for improvement
12 June 2020

I have been wearing Icebreaker t-shirts for more than a decade now. I have collected more than 20 t-shirts. They last a long time (provided you can save them from moths making holes in them :-). They used to be 100% merino wool and now they have some nylon mixed. I love body-fitted t-shirts because in summer I can wear them as regular t-shirts, and in winter as an undershirt under sweaters or jackets. I love no other t-shirts more than my time-tested icebreakers. I still have my first icebreaker from more than a decade ago looking like new. I can't have enough of them.Overtime, a few changes have been made to them and I can't get used to them. For example, the border around neck has been reduced at least 1/2 c.m. less wide, which makes it look more like an ... MoreI have been wearing Icebreaker t-shirts for more than a decade now. Although it is an undershirt, but in summer I could wear it to work just by itself. Now I feel I am wearing an undershirt as t-shirt!! Also, I strongly suggest that (short) sleeve length can be cut sort at least by 2 c.m. to make it look more modern. The current sleeve cover most of the bicep and look very old fashioned (and NOT super sexy) when worn as a t-shirt. I am so disappointed in the fit that I am not sure if I would buy icebreaker t-shirts ever again :-(

Sort the seams out Icebreaker
26 February 2021

I'm a long-time fan of icebreaker. My 'favourite' Icebreaker winter baselayer must be over a decade old and is still surviving albeit with a few stitches here and there. However, the neck seam on this is a real retrograde step. It 'rolls' and doesn't sit flat, unlike the seams on my old icebreakers. If like me you're using it as genuine performancewear it chafes, which is more than just a minor annoyance if you're wearing the same top for days (or even weeks) at a time. If it were less expensive it would have been consigned to the bin by now but I feel obliged to soldier on with it because of the cost. I suspect it won't be long before it's sitting in the bottom of a drawer, too new and expensive to throw away, but looked over in favour of something more ... MoreI'm a long-time fan of icebreaker. I'd still buy icebreaker again, but not with this style neck seam.Sorry I can't share a photo with you to show you the problem, but my advice - avoid, even if you're only buying for casual wear.

Still own this shirt 12+ years later
15 December 2020

One of my 1st purchases from Icebreaker, 12+ years ago, was this shirt. The cut/trim/consistency has changed over the years but I still wear the original shirts I bought way back then. Recently, I decided to get a few more. The past couple of years, I've been buying the sphere or tech lite shirts, which are also great and I honestly had not thought to buy the anatomica shirt in a real long time. But a couple of accidents with thorned bushes caused me to need a few colors so I made the order. I am 6'1 and muscular - normally I wear a L with icebreaker but I ordered an XL of this shirt and it's perfect. I recommend sizing up 1 size from what you normally wear. These are great everyday shirts or workout shirts that will last a very long time. If I had to pick my ... MoreOne of my 1st purchases from Icebreaker, 12+ years ago, was this shirt. Top product in the icebreaker ranged
24 February 2024

Sadly one of the few Lycra/wool combinations left in the product range. What's with all the boomers wanting to have hundred percent wool? One of the most valuable innovations that icebreaker brought along was the Lycra/wool blend. It fits perfectly, it doesn't smell for days, and it keeps its shape after multiple washings. Pure wool is not as elastic nor does last very long. I only wish icebreaker had more pieces like the Anatomica products.

Undershirt that keeps it's cool in the ED
20 July 2019

I bought some extra icebreaker undershirts to complement two I already had to wear under my scrubs when I'm working in the Emergency Department. They get me through a 10-hour shift no problems, usually I can air it out overnight and wear again; no smell or anything! Amazing. So good at regulating temperature, I used to wear cotton undershirts but the merino produces a much more even microclimate against my skin, feels good too. A little 'weird' when you first put them on but are used to cotton products, it doesn't take long before you not only get used to the merino fibers but you prefer them. The cotton shirts would usually start to stink too, particularly towards the end of the day, but sometimes as early as a few hours into the shift. This problem has completely gone away with the merino.A little expensive, but as I said I'm getting two wears out of each shirt (20-hours), and the quality improvement is obvious. I normally get a couple of years out of a cotton undershirt so I'll see what the durability is like, my oldest merino shirts are 18-months old now and look/feel the same as the new ones I've just bought.
