The Icebreaker 200 Oasis HZ men's half-zip baselayer long-sleeved shirt will help to keep you warm under your winter sports equipment. This light and soft merino wool base layer is breathable and provides a superior comfort. This thermal layer is part of a layering system that provides comfort and warmth for your outdoor activities. Easy to layer, this base layer enables you to regulate your body temperature by wicking moisture away. This onion layering system is made of three types of clothing. The first layer, worn next-to-skin will provide warmth and quickly move moisture away from your skin. Then, the second layer, is the insulation or fleece, that provides warmth while also dissipating heat during periods of high output. And finally, the third layer, the shell, which is the most weather-protective layer, worn on the outside of all other layers.

Had I gotten the one without the zip this rating would be a 5-star. When unzipped the fabric is too floppy, when half zipped the metal scratches my neck because of the way the fabric was stubbornly creased inward. When fully zipped it was cosy around my neck...but then I thought if that's the only position I liked then why even have the zipper at all. Will be probably be purchasing the same thing without the zip. The wool stitching is quality and very comfortable. Easily forgetable when next to skin.

I like the feel, not too soft. Material is somewhat thin so perfect for -10 to 20 celsius as a base layer (with 1-2 extra layers). At -10, i wear it with a polar jacket and a 3L shell and it's perfect when you are semi active.Size is good, length is perfect compared to other brands which are way too long all the way down to almost the knees. I dislike the way the colar sits when you unzip 2-3 inches. A minor annoyance.

The material is really soft and not itchy at all. It regulates temperature really well and looks really nice. I use it both at the home office and when hiking, biking etc. The 200 is quite warm, especially under performance. If you're looking for winter base layer then I would go for the heavier 260 version. The sizing is quite big I would say. Normally I go large (176 cm / 84 kg, athletic muscular build) but definitely size down if you want a snug fit. I have both large and medium of this shirt and I prefer medium since I want a next to skin fit for my base layer.

I was looking for a base layer that is light warm and move with the body. That's exactly what it does.I bought it for two main purpose. The first is to be warm and cozy when I go out side during the winter or colder times. And the other one is to have a base layer that I can wear under my motorcycle jacket when it becomes chilly and that would not jam my movements. The first one is fully check and I'll test the last one later when riding will be legal again. My third piece of Icebreaker, and certainly not my last they're so soft that you don't feel them.
The Oasis Body Fit 200 half zip was a go to for me. First purchased in 2007 for skiing. Great fit, snug and fitted, as one would expect for a 'bodyfit' base layer. Having worn that out I looked to purchase another.I sadly made a mistake due to the confusing descriptions Icebreaker were using at the time and ended up with something called Oasis 200 but it wasn't Body Fit. Grey with a yellow/orange zip should anyone remember them.I kept the faith and looked again a few seasons later and the names/category of items had been cleaned up and allowed me to purchase with more confidence.I ordered an Oasis 200 Body Fit half zip and was delighted to receive a perfect fitting (for me anyway) item in medium. A wonderful deep navy blue, sufficiently slim fitting for a base layer and even perfect with something like a Hanes 100 cotton BeefyT under it.The collar stood up well on its own without having to zip it up, fitted like it was tailored to me, not too long in body or sleeves. I was delighted and immediately ordered another couple as a back up; even though I didn't like the sticker on the arm - my original having been stitched branding. However as it was the end of 2017 the season there was just one available.Fast forward to 2018 and I looked to purchase another. Sadly Icebreaker had decided to 'improve' the item. Not in my eyes. When it arrived and I tried it on the fit was baggy. Even though Icebreaker claim the dimensions hadn't changed from 2017.The collar flops down (as it's higher) unless the zip is halfway up, its too long in the body and arms and the removal of the seam across the back of the shoulders, while I can see the rationale for no rubbing, has ruined the structure. The only improvement over the 2017 is that the arm branding is back to being stitched again and not a sticker. Why change something when it's not broken? If the only 'improvement' was the branding being stitched and removal of the stickers, that new 2018 garment would have been perfection. Sadly the 'new improved' just don't fit as well. They look poor on, baggy, ill fitting for 'bodyfit' and too long.I can't see myself trusting Icebreaker's fit again and I shall just have to carefully look after the two I have.If you've any old stock from 'pre-improvements' in medium send them my way! : )
Imagine Canada in late fall, 0-10C, elite level cycling, a Gore windjacket... How to regulate body temp? OASIS or other Icebreaker 160-260 layers. One usually does it for me above 5C. Could be chilly cold, but inside the core, it is 25-29C, regulated- something that artificial textiles from well known competitors cannot achieve. It manages moisture, heat (infrared) and does so brilliantly. whether wet or dry during the ride, body temp is THE SAME. remove the jacket at the end, walk a bit and they dry superfast. I cannot compliment these enough. yes, perfect for cold weather walking outside or watching kids play at the park...No skin issues, no itching. Now, warning. BEWARE of big box store "merino" fakes, that, upon close inspection may have 3-5% merino and 90% ... MoreImagine Canada in late fall, 0-10C, elite level cycling, a Gore windjacket... 175 cm, 75kg, broad shoulders, M fits great.Very comfortable. Icebreaker offers one of the best sewing designs for clothing, and this piece is not an exception. It fits snuggly but it is not skin-tight, so it's more accessible, at least for me.If you're comparing alternatives, do yourself a favor, spare yourself the time, and rest your decision on this product.
I've only worn it around the house and a 7mile trail run so far so maybe it'll change over time. It was 50f at the beginning and 45 at the end of the run and I was the perfect temp the whole time. Started fully zipped, then 1/4, full 1/2 for a hill, and then back to full. Easily would have been comfortable a little lower and the fit is loose enough to add a sleeveless base layer without any restrictions. I wouldn't mind a slightly tighter fit but this was not baggy either. My two critiques are no thumb holes but I think I have enough sleeve length to add my own. Bigger critique is the zipper hits right under the chin. An off center zip or a zipper garage would probably solve the issue.
I had a similar weight Icebreaker long sleeve shirt with a crew neck. I've worn that thing like crazy because it's so useful all winter long and into the shoulder seasons here in the NorthEast. This shirt is even better. I love the higher collar (I can wear it up or down). The zipper neck is great to for adjusting for temperature. The cut and quality of this shirt is great. I highly recommend this shirt for every man!
I discovered Icebreaker on a memorial trip to NZ 10+ years ago & have bought at least 8 Oasis 200 half zip tops since. What I really like is there comfort as an all day garment from October to March. I add a jacket & a thin merino sweater for outdoor stuff when it is sub zero. My beef is that all the nice colours are no longer available recently. I have a nice lightish blue one from 5 years ago; but the red tones have been absent for ages. Are Icebreaker wearers really that boring?
