I was buying HE400SE and I was confused between Zen Air DAC and Air Can,I went ahead with the Zen Air Can as I already had a clean DAC (iPhone USB-c dongle). It provides enough power to run my HE400SE on the low gain at 2'o clock. While HE400SE isn't power hungry, when you EQ it, it adds -6.2db pre-gain which makes them really hard to drive. After EQing I have to use high gain which is why I am thankful I went with Zen Air Can instead of DAC.The Amp is really clean. I tried using it with Moondrop CHU and I cannot hear any noise out of it. Moondrop CHU is a very sensitive IEM and will pickup the noise very easily if it Exists.Features: Xbass+ and Xspace really work. And if you have an Open back headphone, you will love X-bass+ as they add the low-end rumble ... MoreI was buying HE400SE and I was confused between Zen Air DAC and Air Can,I went ahead with the Zen Air Can as I already had a clean DAC (iPhone USB-c dongle). For 7-9k INR, I think it is the best AMP for the buck and should be a part of your budget build. 1.2W will power most headphones.

It sounds similar to its big brother zen can. Only downside being a slightly less driving power. Other than that it offers a 4.4mm output which is not truly balanced design, but an added advantage for those used to having balanced cables.XBass & Xspace are additional features which are rare at this price point and add a bit more bass and treble and airiness.

I used Zen Air Can amp with My Topping D10 DAC and Sennheiser HD 660 S Headphones. It takes my PC streaming experience to next level. I can say It's an Audiophile setup now. Zen Air can is able to drive my headphone well at 9Db gain and with half volume dial position with ample power to create BOOM. Best Bank for bucks.

Well built, awesome sound. Works great with my Fiio btr1, btr3k. Brings out the full value of the headphone. Used to Drive Koss Kph30i from Fiio btr3k with maxed out volume!. not anymore. Thanks you headphonezone for working your magic. Very happy with the purchase.
The ifi zen can air drives my dt990oro like a pro! Sounds fantastic! (a little bassy but that's alright) and the spatial audio feature works really well with my games, looks good too.But... it isn't made out of metal as said.A great little beginner/intermediate amp.
Bought that little amp to listen to my old CDs from an equally old California Audio Lab CD player while working in the now ubiquitous home office, straight on my desk. It sounds absolutely awesome(DT770 Pro 80ohms) and at low volume i find that the two analog filters, activated simultaneously, add tremendous space and presence to the sound. Two thumbs up.
What shall I begin with, it brought next level power to my DT 990 250 ohms compared to my previous DAC AMP "FX-AUDIO" DAC-X6. All I can say it sounds amazing, even tested the Sennheiser HD598 simply loving it. Its one of those gems in market under 100$ range which simply does what it says. Sounds better with RCA cables as input than 3.5 jack (Single ended) as input. After using different Sample rate and bit depths, 24bit 96000 Hz(studio Quality) sounds best.Recommended for 300 ohms impedance headphones.Warm sounding with crisp clarity, no distortion noticed at different gain settings and volume levels. I can finally enjoy the Jon Hopkins - Insides on 990 now. This desktop amplifier does matches the power of its predecessor IFi Zen can and at half the price. If you are not looking for balanced output just go for it, yet they provide 4.4mm slot.I use to miss the enjoyable sibilance in DT 770 due to lack of power and now it's back.Using Samsung mobile charger to power 5v 2a, tried Mi charger as well 5v 3a. Both works fine for DC current.Xbass+ is fine but Xspace doesn't add up much to the sound, even felt like sometimes it killed the neutrality and warmth of sounds. Not recommended to use.
Being new to this space of audiophilia myself, I don't know what I was expecting when I heard the sound of this paired with my Hifiman HE400SE but it sure as hell did not disappoint. The overall clarity or amplitude did not change much for me since I was already using a Behringer audio interface which was enough to power these, but the comfortable volume that I can listen on now without having to max out all possible volume controls is surely appreciated! The Xbass though, using Skullcandy crushers before had really skewed my perception of bass but damn does it come close to being able to produce similar amounts of bass without the muddiness or weirdness, especially on a planar magnetic headphone like the HE400SE is commendable. This feature works! The next step would probably be pairing this with a DAC.Overall, solid build quality, the knob is beautiful, the input switching is handy, and the XBass+ definitely surprises!
Works well, drives my HD6XX and Hifiman Sundara to distortion, this thing is that powerful. One thing to note, this amp does not come with an adapter, attaching any adapter to this did not work. It works only with the supplied power cable and the cable is pretty short in length, it's annoying. It's almost as if they made a proprietary power cable and i cannot replace it with something else if it ever goes bad.
I bought the iFi ZEN Air CAN as a short term solution to be able to listen to vinyl while replacing my main listening speakers to more of a home theater setup. I read the reviews and specs and for such a low price, figured I would try it out. The XBass feature works well and is on par with the bass boost offered by similar products. The XSpace feature though was a nice surprise. It really does give your music a more expansive sound; almost like you increased the soundstage. I would recommend these for anyone looking to enhance their headphone listening experience! Note: my turntable has a built in preamp. You'll need to have a preamp if using the Air Can paired directly to a turntable as I am.
