My favorite feature on these little speakers is being able to play 3 audio sources at the same time. I use the headphones jack with my TV (movies, Switch, Xbox), RCA jacks with my audio interface connected to my laptop and keyboard, and bluetooth with my iPhone. This feature makes these little speakers really useful (such as being able to play along on my keyboard with music from my iPhone). Also the sound quality and volume will make you grin for such a small speaker. What would make these perfect is if they just got a smidge louder. I grew up playing an upright piano, and these speakers get impressively loud, yet leave something to be desired, especially when playing my keyboard. With that said though, these speakers are so much better and louder than any built-in keyboard speakers I've used. Honestly I would have spent twice as much for these speakers.

Sound:Great sounding compact monitors. Would sound better if they had balanced 1/4 inch TRS inputs.Features:Bluetooth.Quality:These are excellent powered near field monitors. The sound is great and they take up minimal space. Perfect monitors for small or untreated rooms. Just can't get over having to connect to unbalanced RCA jacks. Plenty of room for 1/4 TRS inputs and I'd give these an 11 out of 10 if they had 1/4 inputs.Value:Good value but it should have 1/4 inputs.Manufacturer Support:Easy to reach no good explanation for why they didn't include 1/4 inputs. The Wow Factor:These sound great, perfect for monitoring and mixing.Overall:These are excellent powered near field monitors. As most reviews of these speakers have stated, they are quite impressive; Especially for the bass you get from such a small speaker. They do a great job of sounding crisp and clear, with impressive bass DEPENDING on what music you listen to and and what sound level. The biggest issue with these speakers is, even with the volume set at just below half, if listening to bass heavy music, the chuffing/port noise you will hear from these speakers will ruin the experience for you. It's so bad in my opinion that I feel these speakers should have never come to market without more R&D. I assume IK Multimedia heard $ signs when they listened, instead of caring enough to further develop the product to do a better job. I purchased these based on the raving reviews and will be ... I pulled these out and they were pretty much exactly the size I imagined them being. Wired em up to my interface and immediately pulled up songs I know by heart as far as balance, mix and feel. These speakers sound awesome. These sound better than some near fields I've used in my main studio space. They have actually got me looking at their Higher end monitors for my main studio space. absolutely incredible value for the money. If you've been on the fence about these, just go for it. I'd choose these over 80% of the 5 to 7 inch monitors I've tried (and I've tried around 11 brands worth). Chris Jenkins, thanks so much for hookin me up with these! If you need a sales rep, his ext is 1716 and he is always knocking it out of the park for me.
There's been a lot of hype around these monitors, and I'd say that it's mostly deserved. However, I did have a few issues with mine that I feel I should share. The first thing I noticed when I switched them on is that there is A LOT of noise coming from them. Fortunately, most of this noise settles down after 30 seconds. Folks have suggested that this is likely from the Bluetooth chipset booting up. That's still disconcerting. If that's true, there's clearly inadequate shielding between it and the amplifiers. After settling down, my pair still had hiss that was clearly audible from one meter away. There was also a faint whistle with a center frequency of about 2.2 kHz (measured using my RTA). I was able to reduce this whistle by about 17 dB after inserting a $110 ... If that's true, there's clearly inadequate shielding between it and the amplifiers. After settling down, my pair still had hiss that was clearly audible from one meter away. There was also a faint whistle with a center frequency of about 2.2 kHz (measured using my RTA). I was able to reduce this whistle by about 17 dB after inserting a $110 DC noise filter between the provided power supply and the speakers; however, doing so did not eliminate the hiss.I created a support ticket with IK Multimedia Support; however, it has so far gone unanswered. Fortunately, the fine folks here at B&H have allowed me to RMA the set for exchange. I'm hoping I'll have much better luck with the 2nd set since this was probably just an issue with the provided 24V power supply. The final issue was that the analog input stage on these monitors is rather sensitive and easy to overdrive. I'm using them with a Yamaha P-255 digital piano (purchased from B&H years ago) and an audiophile DAC with 2V output stage. For both devices, I found that I had to reduce output by 6 dB to avoid distortion. Without attenuation, this distortion was present regardless of the volume setting on the back of the speaker. So, ignoring all of those issues, the speakers are solidly built and really do sound terrific. The improvement in sound over the built-in speakers on our stage piano is (as expected) fairly dramatic. They are also excellent as a near-field desktop monitoring solution.Although B&H does not carry it yet, I recommend the IK Multimedia custom case for these if you plan to use them on the go. I picked up one from another vendor and look forward to taking the iLouds with us when we go on vacations (if COVID-19 ever ends).I definitely recommend these and would buy again, even after this less than perfect experience. It's unfortunate that IK Multimedia has chosen to not prioritize customer support and transparency when there are issues, but it's great that we have B&H to work with when rare issues pop up.
First, I want to say that B&H has been amazing. My first set of iLoud Micros suffered from excessive hiss and a whistle that I measured at 2.2 kHz. These were clearly audible from a full arm's length away (30 in or so) with and without anything connected to the inputs. The replacement set arrived today, and sadly, the hiss is even louder than the original set (confirmed by measuring close-miked at the same spot with my RTA). I've opened a new ticket with IK Multimedia Support to see what can be done to address the issue. There are a few other folks who have reported this same issue in their online community, so either we have unusually sensitive ears (unlikely), or IK Multimedia has received a batch of bad power supplies that were not caught by quality ... It's been quite an ordeal. It seems that most folks are delighted with these monitors, so it's frustrating that I've had such bad luck.
These will not replace your giant Gens. They will also not replace your mono Auratone. But they are nice easy little speakers to work on when you are close to the screen and you don't have your room treated. Like all speakers, you will figure out what works and you will make balanced/non-irritating sounds the more time you spend with them. For $300 you can't really go wrong. Small footprint is nice.
I bought the iLoud Micro monitors after reading some good reviews about them and realising my current monitors were way to big for the room. They are so tiny I was a bit surprised when I unboxed them. They are quite sturdy though and the microphone stand mount is such a neat idea, very handy. Connection is a doddle. The big shock came when I powered them up and ran a track through them. The sound is a-ma-zing. Genelec they might not be but for the price they are stunningly good value and fill my converted garage studio with ease. While I will still check mixes on a variety of playback devices, these iLoud micro's are such a delightful surprise I would heartily recommend then to any one with a smaller space to record and produce. Now IK Multimedia have some updated ... Buy them if you are on the fence, you will be pleasantly shocked as I was.Oh and delivery from DV247 was speedy, price was the lowest around, and tracking of the package was great.
I picked up these awesome little monitors for my audio and video editing station. I find them to be very natural sounding without hyped up high or low frequencies. When I listen to my last recorded CD the iLoud Monitors reproduce it extremely well including very good response across all frequencies. I think they will be perfect for my mobile studio as well. Definitely a "bang for the buck" purchase. I highly recommend them!
