I purchased two large Kallax about 15yrs ago. They were solid and sturdy. I gave them to friends who still use them, storing loads of books and items on them. Still strong and sturdy.This one? Not so much.Where has the quality gone, Ikea? These are so poorly made, we even had one of the wooden pegs go straight through to the outside of the shelving. Really poor quality. Sad to see.

I have bought several Kallax units for my craft room as the combination of sizes has enabled me to use all available space in the room. The cubes are the perfect size for a craft room. The options available to add on such as doors, drawers, peg board doors and shelf dividers has made every centmetre of space useabke.

Great storage. We added 4 Bladdra storage cubes in the top slots. Looks good and blends into the white wall behind. We have it on it’s side ( wider rather than tall) and have not needed to attach to the wall- ( note:no small children here).This has tied up my two daughters university books and papers and looks good.The only thing IKEA should add to the product is small white round covers for the outer screws! Assembly ok With 2 of us it took about 40 mins and a rubber mallet was useful😊

Instructions good but a youtube video helped as well. Pilot holes for screwing the under drawer supports were missing so had to do them myself. The Kallax is tight fitting in construction which makes it a great end product. I would buy again and probably will.
These units are brilliant and easy to build, took under 1hr to build both. I set-up one as a 3x4 at the foot of my double bed, great height for watching TV in bed! The 2nd one I set up in a 4x3 configuration as a room seperater/privacy screen its brilliant and has bizarrely created a segregated lounge room space in my studio apartment without making the space too cramped. Add in a Lazy Susan, and I can watch TV from the bed or from my awesome ikea rocker chair. Feedback from friends has been great with a "wow this feels cozy!!!"
Bought a new Kallax 3 x 4 shelving unit hoping it would match the 4 x 4 one we’ve been using in our kids room only to find that they don’t line up with the new unit being shorter than the older one. ! Looks like IKEA are using less material to save costs but now I have mismatched units. Disappointed with the different heights and different widths.
I put this together for my room and I love it. Really easy to assemble and it serves its purpose really well which is a shelf for my books. I noticed it can scratch easily though, as it got a few scratches before I even finished assembling.
It’s the most simple set of shelves. My teen kids constructed without any issues. Instructions are good and the pieces neatly packaged. We love Kallax and have 3 in the house now!
No matter if its rotated as a 3*4 or a 4*3, it looks great.So much storage and plenty of other IKEA accessories to pair it with (tubs / boxes / drawers).Really wished they made an undercarriage for the 3*X format since it improves the look of the 2*X and 4*X greatly.
