IKEA - NORDLI bed frame with storage, white 160x200 cm

This bed frame comes in 5 packages and each package is really heavy. A fellow shopper at my local Ikea helped me get each of the 5 boxes onto a cart. During checkout, I made sure that each of the 5 boxes was a Queen size in white. While loading each of the boxes into my SUV (not easy), I thought about loading them back onto the cart and returning it. I now regret not doing so. I spent 12 hours (yes, 12) on a Sunday assembling it. Why 12? Because a few pieces were defective (chipped or warped) and a few other pieces did not have holes drilled in the correct places. This made assembly a huge burden and headache. After all of the effort, it certainly does not look nice and neat like the picture because if one thing is off by a millimeter or if a part is defective, the ... Ultimately, this bed functions the way we need it to — it doesn’t take up space around the mattress and has great storage beneath. But buyer beware — this bed is a pain to get it to where you need it to. As far as the bed portion goes, you NEED to add some modality of support to it. We went with bunkie boards after narrowly avoiding ruining a new mattress with this frame. We slept on it as usual for about 5 months until the mattress was sagging and gaping in the middle and beneath our bums, which we noticed was an issue immediately.Just don’t expect to get home with this and your bed be perfect. You will need to add supports to it one way or the other.

I want people to know that the small hanging bin will scratch up the headboard. I put felt dots on it prevent that. The hanging bins, with their sheet metal construction, are just trouble.The drawers could be a lot longer, though I can see how that might make installing them into the bedframe problematic in smaller rooms.General tips: You'll probably get better results screwing in the fat screws if you do so very carefully, with good pressure; I used a hand screwdriver and this helped with sensing the orientation.I'm not a fan of the instructions for hanging the headboard; instead of describing where the holes go, the instructions describe the lines that the hanging ledges should line up to. Hello, I had this bed for sometime now and the slats holding my mattress broke. I thought no bad deal I will just get replacement slats. However, this bed has special size slats, ones in which cannot be sold separately. If the frame is out of its one year warranty then you are out of luck and must go find an outside solution. All and all, I was a repeat customer for IKEA but no more since they mislead their customers and expect them to solve problems that are known about this model. If you are in the year warranty please, PLEASE return this frame, because these slats break will break and once they do you will be spending more money to fix the problem. Save yourself time and money!
I purchased both the bed and the headboard. I am satisfied with the bed as it will provide a solid base for a Queen sized mattress, and plenty of available storage. The soft-close drawers are particularly nice and roomy. The bed is not physically attached to the wall (as is the headboard), so it can be moved if necessary.Regarding assembly, the bed went together fairly easily with few issues. I only had to disassemble one portion due to unclear directions (or my misunderstanding). The "L" shaped tool provided for the proprietary head fasteners is barely sufficient and the design requires you to do lots of quarter and half-turns. Read through the directions, twice, and be aware that the orientation of pieces can be hard to see in the directions at first glance but are very important for the assembly. I feel like all the assembly horror stories I read made me far more careful about how I proceeded, which in turn made the whole process go much faster. This bed is great! It's solid and well-built with thick pieces of wood and the frame is reinforced all around. Though building had some snags. Wife and I made it in about 4 hours, but ran into two things to watch out for: (1) When building the top part of the frame, you'll be adding the left and right boards make sure the boards overhang on the outside of the bed, otherwise it'd overhang in the center and cause problems with the rest of the construction. (2) There's a part where the top part of the frame's head and foot boards fit between the aforementioned left and right boards. This won't fit! The head and foot boards are slightly too wide to even force into place. We had to take one of the side boards off, put the head and foot board on, and then placed the side ... MoreThis bed is great! We got the King sized version. It took us about 6+ hours to assemble all of it including the shelves. The bed frame looks nice but its impractical, without any slat/support in the middle. The entire weight is suspended on two very thin wooden sticks. Waking up with back pain and slouched shoulders was a norm. Would not recommend if you anything over 50 kg. Also the edges are very sharp. This is definitely a hard pass.
