It fit fine in my Silk case and kept me from having to use adhesive on my beautiful phone.The small magnet was sufficient to keep my phone in place in all but the worst bump on the crumbling streets of Memphis and that's saying a lot. Given that that these mounts are of more use to me on longer out of town drives where the roads aren't nearly as bad, I'm thoroughly impressed.The mounting arm had good range of motion without being too loose. It looks and feels like a quality accessory in my car so I'm very pleased to use this and recommend to anyone looking for a nice mounting option.

I have had a hard time finding a phone holder for my 2014 Honda CRV because the design of that dash board doesn't really lend itself to mounting a holder -- too many angles and curves. I didn't want a holder that fastened to the CD player or air vents, for fear of damaging them. Then it hit me that the suction cup (which works with a lever to really "stick it") should perhaps be dampened. I put a tiny bit of water on it and stuck it again and flipped the lever, and it's been great. Hasn't budged an inch since, even though I've had my phone on and off it multiple times. At some point it might get loose, and I will dampen it again. The instructions even say something about restoring the "stickability" (my word) from time to time with water.The holder comes with various magnets you can fasten to your own phone case. I didn't need them as my phone case already is magnetic. If your case is not magnetic, you'll need to install the supplied magnets. They are quite thin and should not interfere with carrying the phone around as usual, though I can't speak to whether they'll attract metal items in your purse or pocket since, again, I haven't tried them.The holder has a nice, solid feel to it, and it is attractive as well. It is also unobtrusive (not being chunky or tall) when not in use.Overall, I'm very pleased with this phone holder and would order another if I had another car.

If there are bumps on the road, the mount and its magnets holds the phone well. I can say this if it were in portrait mode.However, I like to use my phone in landscape mode in order to not obscure my view of the road horizontally. Unfortunately, when in landscape mode, the phone shimmies out of position upon hitting a bump. I think this can be remedied if I moved the metal plate to the middle of the phone but this blocks wireless charging. I've used many different products and tbh this is the best one yet...As our phones get bigger the struggles do too...The instructions do say to put the metal plate between your case and phone and depending on your situation that might work...I ended up having to to that along with one on the outside just to make sure I had no issues/distractions while driving and it does come with two plates...I moved it a time or two at first but it was hard to do because the suction cup literally sticks where you put it not like the cheaper ones I've had. This is a brilliant windshield mounting. You have to properly apply the metal plate to the outside of your phone's case for it to work perfectly, but that's part of a proper installation. The suction cup has a very effective adhesive that works in conjunction with the shape lever for tightening to the surface. The vinyl disk for attaching to a dash or another surface, I've never used. I just jump in the car, pop my phone against it and I'm ready to go. It has a very low visual profile, so it's 'leavable' if you use a windshield shade or aren't using your phone. I'm getting ready to purchase my fourth, to give to my father.

When I read the instructions where you have a choice to use the inside or outside of your phone case, I opted for inside. There’s a plastic piece of paper that is supposed to be some type of protector between the magenet and case. When I tried to place the magnet on the protector, it would not stick to it or the case. Next issue was that my Ottwrbox case has some molding which prevented me from being able to place the magnet on the center of the case as advised. As a result, I placed it on the lower portion of my case. The case stayed attached to the stand for exactly 2 days. Now it very regularly tilts significantly or falls off of the stand. However, this mount does not have a collar and still manages to hold the phone how I've set it around corners and over bumps. Now on to the non-TLDR review: I've gone back and forth between the iOttie iTap Magnetic and iOttie Easy Touch systems. While both work amazingly I really love the ease of use of the iOttie iTap Magnetic system. I previously owned the iOttie iTap Magnetic 1 and can say the iOttie iTap Magnetic 2 is a major improvement in a couple of key areas. First, the magnetic pad's shape has been changed from a round-shaped head to a more oval-shaped head, which provides additional "grip". Additionally, the adhesive pad that iOttie includes to put on your dash prior to installing the iOttie mount has been reduced in size and height, so it's less obtrusive over previous versions. PRO TIP - If you need extra magnetic plates for other phones or family member's phones contact iOttie customer service via their website and they will send you additional sets for FREE!!! All in all the iOttie iTap Magnetic 2 is well designed, provides good value for the money, is backed by a 2-year warranty, and meets all the requirements of a good dash mount. Don't hesitate, just do it!
