This product is a joke and deserves 0 stars! In the 6 short months that we have owned this robot, we have had multiple issues. The first one being within 3 months of owning it. After waiting on hold for customer support for almost an hour, the answer was it is a "software issue" and simply needed a reboot. While that did fix the problem, it was only temporary. Over the last 2 weeks, we noticed that it was no longer completing a full clean, despite being scheduled to do so. Then it was getting stuck in areas that it was set up on the map to not go to. The past week, it has been notifying me via the app that it is stuck only to find that it is "stuck" ONE FOOT from the base. And 2 days ago, it has been sending a notification that it is paused (again ONE FOOT from the ... MoreThis product is a joke and deserves 0 stars! The past week, it has been notifying me via the app that it is stuck only to find that it is "stuck" ONE FOOT from the base. And 2 days ago, it has been sending a notification that it is paused (again ONE FOOT from the base) because something is stuck in the right wheel, despite it being completely clear. We previously owned a Neato D7 robot vacuum and it lasted 4 years. It was also the same shape as the s9+, which we loved because it really did do a great job getting in the corners, used wi-fi and an app to set up and schedule the map and cleaning schedule; however, when it was time to replace it, we chose the s9+ because of the self-cleaning option and we were confident in the Roomba brand. At a total cost of $882, I would expect that the robot would have functioned properly for at least a couple of years. Never would have thought it would only be 6 months. I wish that we would have listened to the reviews instead of taking a chance on a vacuum that has clearly not met our expectations, especially from such a well-known robot vacuum brand. iRobot should be ashamed of the performance and durability of their product, especially at such a high cost!

I have hardwood floors and I simply want roomba to do a quick daily run on the high traffic areas (kitchen, high traffic passage/hall, and entrance). The whole area is roughly 800 sqf. I have change the settings to custom do that it does 1 run per area so that it's "as quick as possible", yet it takes about 1 hour to do 280 sqf, and that's if it doesn't get stuck. Every single day it manages to get stuck in the most stupid way possible. On the rare days it decides to do the entire job it also finds a way to screw up. As you can see in the attached picture, one day it decided it needed to clean my neighbor's house. Now that route is permanently part of my map and the only way to erase it is to start from scratch again.... I can't believe the software doesn't allow for manual modifications to correct the dumbest "smart" appliance ever created. Another incredible aspect of this useless piece of junk is that it's built to run with the lights on. The camera that's on top of it, does not see well in darkness so you absolutely have to run roomba during the day of with the lights on!! Another annoying thing about this is that every 1 or 2 months it simply decides that it won't do the daily run for no apparent reason, so every time I have to press the clean bottom for 20 seconds to remind it that I actually do not like dog hair on the floors. Ling story short, do not buy this model. Even if you win it on a raffle, don't hesitate to give it away!!!! The sad part is that when it runs, it actually does a decent job on the hardwood floors. The thing is that it takes too long and only finishes about 2% of the job required. Like I mentioned before, my neighbor has the same model and he is equally as dissatisfied with it as I'm!

I bought this thing bundled with the mop in January 2022 and I am looking to have to replace the wheel units for the second time already. In my old roomba, I could just replace the treads inexpensively, but not only have they made the rubber softer and less durable, they have very cynically made it so that the whole of the wheel units have to be replaced more to the tune of $100. In my last Roomba, that we used for years, I had to replace the tread one time. Same house, same flooring, same location in the house. For replacing wheels twice a year, retainer clips that pop off the rollers, and other expensive accessories, I could buy a whole Hoover every year for the cost of just maintaining this thing. Sometimes it thinks it's on an uneven surface when it is sitting on the floor 1 ft from its dock. I can't remember the last time it finished a job without something going wrong. All of this in a unit less than a year old. I will admit it gets used a lot and we have a big house with dogs, but I expected it to run for more than a year without needing a major overhaul (much less two). I love the idea of your products, but you are not delivering on what you advertise. Please come up with better rubber for the wheels or make the tread alone replaceable because I will huck the whole thing into the trash and never buy anything from you again if I need to spend $250+ a year just to keep this stupid thing (sort of) running. Do better.

I have purchased 3 s9 and 3 Braava jet units in the past 2 years (1 set for my home, lake home and mother). The one I purchased 2 years ago has been stopping constantly, requiring repeated cleaning, resetting, etc. It finally wouldn't run at all. The tech diagnosed the problem as 2 dusty cliff sensors which cannot be cleaned from the inside, so the unit was deemed unrepairable. She offered me a trade in program where I send the damaged unit in for a $100 voucher toward the purchase of a new one. My clean dump docking station is in great working order, so I looked online for an option to only purchase the vacuum. No option exists. I called 2 customer service reps, who told me I have to buy the vacuum and docking station. I called 2 customer service reps, who told me I have to buy the vacuum and docking station. I advised both reps I have been a loyal customer, and the vacuum only lasted 2 years before it was unrepairable. I asked for a bigger discount since I was forced to purchase something I don't need, and was told no. I asked for an extended warranty with a new purchase and I was told no. So I am sending a working unit (other than 2 faulty cliff sensors which are just dirty) back to Irobot for a $100 voucher, so that I can lay down $1000 for another unit with a docking station I don't need? That's an expense of $500 per year when the vacuum lasts 2 years. I feel I have been shafted since this vacuum was very expensive compared to other vacuum options, should last a lot longer for the price, and customer service should be more appreciative of loyal customers. I can purchase the same unit on eBay or similar site for less money, especially since purchasing with robot does not offer a customer service advantage. I will buy an s9 from some other site only because the dump station is working. I am definitely going to look at other non-irobot vacuums for future purchases.
Several years ago we purchased a 600 series and then again purchased a 960. Both Robots cleaned our home for years without any major issues. Since the 960 battery life is no longer holding a charge we decided to purchase TWO 9s models. Our thinking was that we were buying the very best model and yet we got the two worst robots ever created. Biggest problems: - you literally have to treat the robot like a baby that just learned to crawl and will get into everything. I have found it completely off the ground because it somehow caught the belt from one of my wife's dresses and it actually pulled itself up off the floor. -It constantly gets either Stuck, Lost, or tries to return back to the base through a wall and then the battery dies. -The biggest issue I have is the ... MoreSeveral years ago we purchased a 600 series and then again purchased a 960. I replaced the side brush and started a Mapping Run only and at the end the side brush was destroyed because of the force the robot puts down on the carpet. -Irobot has replaced the cleaning head on one robot, which didn't help, and they send me replacement rollers and side brushes to apologize for them being trash. If the rollers manage to eat a cord or something you failed to pick up from the floor the obstruction will destroy the rollers. I have begged IRobot to take the robot back and give me an 7 series in exchange but they will not. They seem happy to sell a garbage product for more than 1000 dollars because it has higher suction and has a square front.
This is our first foray into the world of Robot vacuums and must say I personally am blown away by it. We have owned it for the last one month or so. We chose the S9+ iRobot Roomba since based on my research, it is the best robotic vacuum at this time. So far it has fit this bill perfectly. The installation was very simple and my daughter did it since she was so super excited about it that she would not wait up for me. So by the time I got to it, she had already installed it and kept it ready to go. We put in the laundry room and it does not take much space. We started the mapping run on day one of installation. It took a good 5-6 hours and we had a bit of doubt as to what exactly it was doing. So by the time I got to it, she had already installed it and kept it ready to go. We put in the laundry room and it does not take much space. We started the mapping run on day one of installation. It took a good 5-6 hours and we had a bit of doubt as to what exactly it was doing. But apparently this robot learns and now we have a daily schedule that vacuums the most frequently areas which it finishes in an hour and 10-12 mins like clock work. We have tiles on the first floor with carpet in two rooms. The vacuum switches from tile to carpet mode effortlessly. The vacuum’s suction (S9+ has the highest suction in current range of iRobot vaccums) seems just right. I am amazed at how the vacuum navigates itself through the maze in your house. The careful drive feature does work and it does not bump into objects. Also it seems to clean in areas that our usual vacuum does not reach. Although my wife would occasionally sweeps the floor to bring dirt from under normally stationary objects like sofa etc, it is not needed everyday. For the daily quick clean, make sure though that there are no dangling wires that may get entangled in the vacuum or any clothes. The vacuum can get stuck if there are clothes lying around. We do “clean everywhere “ deep clean on the weekends and that job finishes in about 5 years. If I had to suggest improvements, I would say somehow if they can make it more quieter in future, it would be awesome. Also I know this is asking too much, but if it can do stairs and go on second floor too. :) Little bit regarding the Mop. We were debating whether we should buy the Vacuum and Mop combo but decided to go for it since Bestbuy was giving a nice discount on the combo during the Black Friday sale. The mop does a decent job, is very quiet and even tells you if you forget to fill the cleaning fluid. It takes a long time though so if anything, that is what I would ask for improvement. All in all, very happy with the purchase!
After having an older generation Roomba, I was excited to buy this new combo package to add some advanced room features and mopping to our house cleaning routine. Unfortunately, my experience was almost immediately soured by poor packaging, navigation, and customer service. Firstly, upon arriving, the s9+ made a horrible grinding noise when vacuuming around the house. After doing some research, it turns out their is a known defect where the brush housing is bent, causing the brushes and plastic framing to grind on the floor. I decided to put in a ticket for that. Meanwhile, I opened the Braava box to find that it had a defective lid. As soon as the mop bumped into something, the lid would spring open and fling the door clip across the floor. No worries, I thought. ... MoreAfter having an older generation Roomba, I was excited to buy this new combo package to add some advanced room features and mopping to our house cleaning routine. I'll open a ticket for that as well (while referencing my original ticket number) and just taped the lid shut in the meantime. Over the next several days, both the vacuum and mop really struggled to create an accurate map of our home and would often get lost- even in fully-lit rooms. In addition, they would complete jobs without ever going to rooms that were already on the map. This really added to my initial frustration as our several generations old Roomba could more easily navigate around the house without such erratic behavior. After a week, I still had not received a response to either support ticket opened with Roomba, despite them saying I should receive a response within 48 hours. Finally, after 9 days and as I was packing up the robots to return them, I received a response to my first ticket. They said they were in the process of switching customer service platforms and that led to the delay in responding. Sadly, I had enough at that point. I'm really disappointed by just how poor my experience was with this new generation of Roomba devices. I used to recommend them to everyone but now I'm more cautious about choosing them again. It seems they've gotten too comfortable at the top of the market and have been slow to adopt newer features like LIDAR for faster mapping and enhanced obstacle avoidance. In addition, these newer Roombas, while elegant-looking, don't seem to have the durability that the older devices had.
First off, I hate to write reviews that are not positive. I know that some group was responsible and likely proud of the product. But, after having it for about 6 months I think I am done. I have a very small 1st floor of about 700 sqft. The robot takes 7 hours to clean it (on eco mind you) due to the time it takes to go back and recharge. That is just absurd for a vacuum of this price. I tried a new battery with no better luck, so its not that. I am now on my 4th (yes in 6 months) pair of rollers. They wear out so quickly and then barely pickup any dirt. I won't even get into how many side brushes I have replaced. They last just about 2 weeks before they fall apart and are vacuumed up themselves. Now, lets talk about the wheels. 6 months and they are both wore down ... MoreFirst off, I hate to write reviews that are not positive. I won't even get into how many side brushes I have replaced. They last just about 2 weeks before they fall apart and are vacuumed up themselves. Now, lets talk about the wheels. 6 months and they are both wore down to nothing. So now I have to shell out (lets be modest) $100 per wheel? So that means I would have spent about $500 in parts to keep this puppy gong for the past 6 months. Today when I saw the wheels needed replaced I decided to spend that money on a different brand vacuum. I mean why not put it towards something with less maintenance. I will be broke if I have to keep this up! The one positive is the clean base works great. No device should need this much money in maintenance in 6 months. This is almost criminal. Time to lock this puppy up... in the trash. Side note: Software and app are ok, but now it found some hallway that is as long as my whole house sticking out the back of my house that it keeps trying to clean. Maybe a secret tunnel I don't know about? If I find a tunnel to some treasure, that would help keep this thing running I guess.
I have never "hated" anything like I hate this piece of garbage. I had the s9 vacuum replaced 3 times and have never had any luck with this trash product. I own two 980 roombas, which I love and have sold so many friends and family on, and I own the latest Braava mop and unfortunately the s9 system. The s9 has completely destroyed all faith and love I had for iRobot as a company. It was once light years ahead of the competition, but the s9 is going to earn iRobot a big class action suit. iRobot sold this product and continues to sell it knowing it's completely defective. The green rollers and black spin brush? Plan on replacing every 1-2 times you run the vacuum. I've never had so many issues with anything liek I have this garbage device. The green rollers and black spin brush? Plan on replacing every 1-2 times you run the vacuum. I've never had so many issues with anything liek I have this garbage device. Customer service was once wonderful, but has also become worthless. Something happened between the purchase of my second 980 roomba and buying the s9. I got it shortly after it was released. Customer service is useless and I've spent more time and money trying to make the s9 work that I'm ashamed with myself. iRobot should be refunding every single customer for the purchase of the s9 including all accessories plus an additional $1000 for loss of time and emotional distress from dealing with such an expensive piece of garbage. I refuse to spend more time or money on this thing and instead, I decided to call a lawyer today because it's simply unacceptable how defective this item has been since the day they launched it and have continued selling it despite knowing its absolutely incapable of functioning properly.
I have had this robot for a year and it has been the worst purchase I've mad. The robot is completely infuriating. So let's start with the price - at the given price point I should be doing maintenance on this this only when brushes or bags need to be changed. It needs weekly cleaning and troubleshooting. The regular vacuum I purchased following this purchase (due to continued requests to return, and constant emails because this robot, has literally worked less than 9 times this entire year on command) requires me to empty it once a month with once a week use. The app is flaky at best and the robot almost never responds to it. Even though my virtual assistants can get it to at least make noise. Not to mention it's loud - all the time. Loud when emptying the bin, ... MoreI have had this robot for a year and it has been the worst purchase I've mad. Loud when emptying the bin, loud when running and loud when docking. The bin never empty's as designed so I always have to manually do it, with new bags old ones or anything. I thought it may have been clogged but my new vacuum pulled nothing. Operation is so infuriating, I can't stand to use this item that was supposed the make my life easier! The mapping is awful, and if you try to fix it to help the robot, you'll spend hours to discover that the adjustment only last as long as the robot doesn't run again! When the battery gets low, it never goes back to the base and because the battery is dead I have to search and find it. My smart home is set to turn the lights on when it's scheduled to o run, to help it "see", and it still manages to not be able to find its way back. To make matters worse, the lights were set to go off when the robot redocks - luckily they still went off after an the robot died. I could go on and on about the sink hole of money you will spend on accessories, and the time you will waist troubleshooting nothing, but I would say - just don't waist your money, spend it on a Dyson or Bissell!
