We love to use a french press and also love to camp. The Jetboil lives up to its name and heats the water very fast. The included temperature gauge on the side makes it easy to know when it is hot and I have noticed that it stays hot for quite some time. The only issue I have had is the cover tends to pop off and it would be nice to have clips built into the lid for the press handle pieces. Overall though, I recommend this for any one that loves to hike and enjoy a cup of hot coffee and a view!

This stove functioned so well that I was willing to overlook a couple downfalls.First the negative...Brace yourself, it's heavy. Well maybe not that bad but it does come in at 15oz. When comparing it to a survivalist 3oz flame nozzle, the difference can be easily identifiable. The only other complaint revolves around drinking or eating straight from the cup. The outside heat glove soaks up whatever you're sipping and the lid can attribute to slight sip leaks from the seal. Again, not the end of the world but hot liquids and easy spilling should never mix.Now on to the positive...The cookware holds 2 cups of water (almost double that if you arent boiling), heats to a boil in 2-3 minutes and the internal flame avoids wind related issues. This product is robust, takes no batteries, is easy to use and has a really nice "your water is done" color changing feature on the outside.I mentioned those 3oz survivalist torches already. This Jetboil seemed to conserve gas and leave me with more fuel down the line, which was great. The base lid that acts as a green plastic bowl is a nice touch too. Those that enjoy combining to conserve space can appreciate the flash boil system's ability to store all accessories inside as well as a small fuel canister.Again, I wish it was lighter... but it performed amazingly well.

A great piece of gear, I bought it before driving across the country so I could have fresh coffee all the way across. Did some shopping at Coava, had it ground to French press specs. This new kit is better than the old French press kit that you could buy when I brought my first jetboil about 8 years ago. Water boils very quickly and French press works well. Silicone tipped plunger keeps The grounds pretty well out of the Brew. Great product. Self igniter works well when you're not in the wind. If you're in the wind you may have to divise some kind of wind block.
The JetBoil Flash was a great addition to my camp kitchen. I use the JetBoil Lava connected to my BaseCamp setup. One plastic water bottle per brew makes two small Yeti Cups of Coffee or One Tall Yeti Cup. Only takes a few minutes to boil depending on wind… only 90 seconds without a strong wind. I ended up simply boiling water and using a freeze dried coffee since I was making coffee for 5, the first-time around it took me 30 minutes to get them all done using the press.>PS - The link would not allow me to upload my own photo. Needs to be fixed.
After completing a 150 mile bike ride with a friend who brought along her Jetboil I was so impressed with the Jetboil that I ordered one as soon as I got home. I ordered the Java model with the coffee press attachment , if you drink coffee you should get the Java model. The features most important to me is being able to combine all the parts including the fuel canister and the coffee press together in one very light and compact unit. Because of the construction material the water boils very fast giving you a great cup of coffee boiled and pressed in less than ten minutes. The outside material allows you pick up the canister without touching the hot surface Orange indicator lets you know when water is boiling. Customer service at Moosejaw is awesome as well.
I wanted the coffee press because i previously purchased the wrong size. With my original jetboil starting to have an issue so the combined kit was a fit for me. Unfortunately jetboil did not include the sample coffee as advertised. According to Black Ovis multiple other units were missing sample also. Not a big issue, but when it’s advertised as included it should be.
Bought this to go backpack and camping as Colorado often is in a fire ban. This had some major issues for being such a well reviewed product, I don’t know if they’re cutting corners but this has serious quality control issues.1. The electric starter wouldn’t not arc. I had to spend about 10m bending the starter so that it be close enough to arc but also far enough so that it would angle and arc towards the fuel.2. The jetboil melted itself. It melted it so quick I had to turn it off and the water was still cold. It wasn’t breezy. It was on a level surface. I tested it again at home, same situation. This made us end our trip early as we couldn’t eat any of our dried meals. For such a premium product, I can’t recommend this. When do you usually want your coffee in the morning? How about in 2 minutes? That’s when I want my coffee - ASAP. This system boils water super fast (as the regular Jetboil’s do) but the added bonus is that it comes with the coffee press filter accessories. The Jetboil Java is only $10 more than the regular Jetboil, but buying bought the coffee press kit separately (regular cost $20), you’ll end up spending $10 more. Forget the MSR Pocket Rocket, unless you’ve been using it in many weather conditions for years and have all the cooking accessories. The Jetboil is built with a natural windscreen and comes with the water container and fuel stand. Also I like that I can put smaller canisters of fuel inside the container for transportation. I used this a few times over the past season. And unfortunately wasn’t super impressed. The Flash heats up water very quickly, which is great when you’re feeling desperate for caffeine, but that was the sole highlight for me. It only boils up to two cups of water at a time, and the fill line is only half up way up the pot, which feels like a lot of dead space for those two cups. It also doesn’t filter out grounds super well. I felt like I had this nice product just to end up with cowboy coffee every time which was a mess (both in the pot and cup). I also think this is really only good for boiling water, which again is a practicality issue. What’s the pot of having a pot that only does one thing kind of well when you’re backpacking? I stopped using this after a few trips and just stuck to a lightweight pot and the GSI mesh pour over for the coffee. Pair the pour over with a filter and you’ve got grounds free coffee that’s a breeze to clean up.
