Purchased one, took it home to find the offset box lid has been manufactured back to front which means the doors open to opposite sides of smoker.Took it back to Bunnings smithfield staff were helpful although all stock was the same.Checked at the cairns store and staff didn't really care and couldn't actually go and check the stock.Check this first unless you want to spend hours assembling and disassembling your smoker to return it.There are several reviews of others having the same issue. We decided to keep our back to front contraption...

After reading reviews on just about any smoker under the $300 mark budget I was still hesitant at purchasing this exact smoker. My research found that offset smokers cook the best and they are also the best ones to learn on so was eager to jump on the ban wagon and smoke up. Upon purchasing the smoker it came together by myself in just under 3 hours, seems excessive I know but considering the amount of parts and I was alone I thought I did alright. Now, the reviews I was worried about, people saying it leaks all the time and they never got an even cook ECT out of it, dunno what smoker they bought or maybe I just put it together properly? It leaks the tiniest bit ever, but definitely not enough to change the amazing flavour on the end results. All came out juicy and unreal in flavour. Buy it, get good at it then look at a more expensive one. Can guarantee you, you won't turn back. Cheers jumbuck for making it affordable for someone like me to smoke!

a good starter smoker. does the job. you definitely need to keep it in a dry place or it will rust out very fast.if you oil the grills after each use and make sure there is no moisture inside after cleaning it should last a bit longer (not rust out)i wouldn't buy it if you don't have a dry place to store it.the food on it has been amazing.

I got one of these last summer as my first offset smoker. Sure it’s not an Oklahoma joes, but if your just getting started with low n slow bbq there is nothing wrong with this at all. Quality is decent, I’ve done dozens of cooks on mine and it’s holding up well. Only complaints are that the lid doesn’t seal on the body so it’s probably not as efficient as some others. But for $199 I can’t complain much.
Purchased this a few days back. Took approximately 3 hours to put together. If you can, pay someone to do this as there is litterly 100+ awkward bolts/screws and they aren't labeled which made putting it together an absolute disaster. The smoker itself is okay. Ha a fair bit of leakage all around it; the cooking chamber, the firebox and the chimney.Have to have the firebox door open fully in order to get/temp at around 165F.Would I purchase it again, probably not, but for a cheapie, it does the job.
I purchased this as an entry into the world of smoking and was not disappointed.being a beginner, my first cook was successful, although now that I know more, I can tell there are airflow issues caused by the build quality (even after re-assembling a few times)If you know what you are doing, you can get additional heatproof gasket tape or similar and improve upon this. 4 Stars because, despite the above, it is a great cost-effective option for entry into the world of smoking.
If you lay all the parts out before you start assembly it makes assembly easier and labelling the nuts and bolts with the corresponding letters in the manual helps.I cooked a full brisket in the smoker but when the meat contracted it pushed on the internal shelf and started to push the lid up - either use a smaller brisket or remove the shelf. I was also able to move the smoker around easily during the cooking time.I recommend this product if you’re just wanting to try smoking for the first time.Happy Smoking Peeps!
I bought mine about 8 months ago. I needed something that was relatively light as we live permanently on the road and have to watch our weights. I have done lots of cold smoking of cheese on mine and got nothing but compliments. Yeah sure it’s not perfectly sealed, but I still get the full smokey flavour I was after. I do sometimes put a bit of tape over the off sets lid, but …….. With the cold smoked cheese, I just have to watch it more and as a result, have more control over the smoke. If I could afford a heavier more solid smoker would I buy one? Probably not. Being in Darwin, I have learnt to do my cold smoking later in the day, or very early in the day.
Bought this last week, as my first smoker. Looked for the cheapest one, but now wish I had spend a bit more money. It leaks smoke like a sieve and doesn't transfer heat well from the box to the pit. Suggest you spend a few more $$$. And get something thicker
Cheap. It works. Excellent value for the price. A little harder to maintain temp compared to "proper" smokers but honestly, like I said, for the price it's a steal. Haven't had an issue thus far. Happy cooking everyone!
