I would give this more than two stars had it not been for the blue piece on top of the roof that has given us issues on both cages (2 years apart) and recently lead to our newest hamster escaping, getting caught by our cat. Let me preface this review by saying this cage over all is pretty good. It's spacious and our hamsters love the top hideaway built into the roof. The wheel, however, doesn't hook in well so when they use it, it is the loudest squeaking noise ever. We have figured out if you take out at just the right spot it stops the noise. Luckily we caught him. Figured it was a fluke. Then a few weeks ago it happened to our new hamster. That hamster got out in the middle of the night and got caught by our cats. Not a happy ending. We now have attachment pieces on there that are supposed to lock in to place. Do they? NO! We have a yellow dome attached to a straight tube a d ring and none of them will lock on this hole. Know what we did? Duct taped it like the first cage. Long story short, for the price of this thing, you wouldn't have to tape it up like it's a 50 year old air conditioner hanging out of your window. Does it give good room and play for the animals? Yes. However I hate that this is the primary brand for small animals as it's overpriced and crap quality.

Sorry to say, but this new Crittertrail Level 2 is not an improvement over the old models. It is hard to fit together on the sides and the old exercise wheels do not fit properly unless a tube is used in conjunction and the old tubes do not slide into the holes properly!!!! Also the wire sides are too close together denying access of any outside water bottles you might have. All in all it was a big disappointment to get this cage for my 14 newly born gerbils. I have no idea how a little kid could possibly put this cage together. The old cages were lovely and I thank my lucky stars I still have a few!!!!WWB

My hamster loves this habitat! He has plenty of room to play, climb and roam. There is also a living space on top that you can open to play with your pet. The habitat comes with a food dish, water bottle and exercise wheel. Perfect for mice, dwarf hamsters, hamsters, and gerbils. Also compatible with all CritterTrail accessories.
Hampster is very happy in her new cage. Can't wait to expand to another one, but this one is a great started kit for 1 little critter, could do 2 I am sure, but 1 is definitely comfortable and happy and it's everything you need to get started minus some bedding material and food. Everything else is included.
Has everything a few mice could love. They bounce around the built-in, self-sufficient house and make it their home with proper care.
This cage is NOT suitable for Guinea Pigs.
