I am very impressed with the Kindle Scribe! Right out of the box, the battery had a significant amount of charge so I could set it up immediately. During setup, I was given the option to connect to WiFi and my Amazon account. And then it offers a free subscription of kindle unlimited and audible premium so I can fully experience all of the features. I love that! I downloaded my first book and got into several pages into it last night. The kindle is very pleasant on the eyes, even in the dark. (And of course, in dark mode!)The scribe aspect of this kindle is so fun (and functional). You can open up the Notebook section on the bottom and it’s just blank sheets of paper. And finally, you can add sticky notes to pages of the books you’re reading- and make hand-written notes there, too. This thing is fantastic. The only downside I can see is that it doesn’t have any built in speakers to play the Audible books, so you have to be able to connect to a Bluetooth speaker to play/ hear those. But so far, my whole family has been enjoying this device.

The Kindle Scribe has a lot of potential. The hardware is amazing. None of its competitors seem to be able to match the hardware--a 10.3" screen; a backlight with not only adjustable brightness, but adjustable warmth; a writable surface, long battery life and a responsive stylus that does not require batteries--for the price. In fact, it's difficult to find another eReader that checks all of these boxes at all. It's thin, relatively light, and more comfortable to hold than a hardcover book of the same height and width, though re-learning how to hold it has been a bit of an adjustment coming from a Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Fire 8. For me, the larger display more than makes up for the slight hit to ergonomics. My only quibble with the hardware is that erasing with the premium pen takes a surprising amount of force. Applying sufficient pressure to to depress the eraser button and dragging the pen feels to me like I'm going to scratch the screen. I haven't yet, but using the shortcut button to erase with the nib is much more pleasant and requires much less pressure. Other than that, it's difficult to think of a way to improve the hardware. Particularly, reading at night with the back light's warmth adjusted to filter out blue light is pleasant and unlike any other device I've used. It's excellent.
I’ve been using this Kindle for a few weeks now after some hesitancy since I love having a physical book and am pleasantly surprised with the product. It’s simple enough that reading a book doesn’t detract from the content but also has useful features like a dictionary, translator, and the ability to take notes right at your fingertips. The pen works extremely well and I love that it comes with extra tips to change out. It’s crazy to write on it and see your handwriting directly on the screen! It’s sensitive enough to capture all of the nuances of your writing and works exceptionally well with cursive. I’ve played with the features for a bit and I don’t see the ability to write and have it change to text, however. The pen is magnetic and easily attaches to the side ... I’ve played with the features for a bit and I don’t see the ability to write and have it change to text, however. The pen is magnetic and easily attaches to the side but I find it gets in the way when reading and I don’t love to keep it on.The interface is slightly clunky and I would prefer to have a button to bring up the screen but after some tapping your options show up and I like that it keeps what you’ve done most recently as the center icon to select. My favorite feature is the kindle library and that it’s sinker directly to Amazon. I love that you have the ability to borrow books that are included with your prime membership for free! Given the cost of books these days, I will be reading much more than before. I also love that I can download books for my book club with the touch of a button and at a lower cost. I never know what to do with books I don’t want to keep after reading so I also love that I can read without adding clutter to my house! The battery lasts a LONG time as well. The biggest issue I see with this Kindle is that it’s heavy. It’s a nice large size with great features but not intended to be held for a long time. Someone who has trouble with their hands or keeping a grip on things for a long period of time would not be able to use this without some sort of device to prop it up. This is the biggest reason it has lost a star from me!

The display on this really has to be seen in person to realize how much it is like an actual piece of paper! The text is very sharp and the fact that it can last months on one battery charge is pretty amazing. The Scribe is a pretty thin piece of metal, but feels very solid, and I'm assuming the wider left side is designed that way to give you a good place to grip it since it would be difficult otherwise with how thin it is. The pen writes extremely well and even though I don't expect I'll use it much for taking notes in books (it's rare I do that) I do think I'll use it often for notes during sermons, to-do lists, and other random times that I would normally grab a piece of paper. I feel good knowing if the tip wears down it came with plenty of spares, it really is just fun to write with! The device is kept extremely simple, which is good for most things but can be a little clunky when I think of just opening a document on my phone but with this I need to use an app on my phone to send the document to my Kindle and then open it. It's really not a big deal and is pretty quick, but I don't plan to do it for most documents, probably only for things that are longer reads. It makes sense of why it's perfect for ebooks...and I'm so excited that it automatically has my library of audio books as well!Overall the Scribe is fantastic! It looks great, is thin and light, and will keep reading from hurting my eyes staring at a phone/computer screen. If you're an avid book reader (especially if you write notes in them) then this is a no-brainer, but even if that's not what you like to do it could still be worth getting for the times when you don't want to stare at a screen or lug around a bunch of books.
I have had my scribe for a few days now. I do love the size and the light weight of it.I was freaked out that as soon as it loaded, it already had my account info and automatically joined my Wi-Fi which is literally new.I am not rating note taking in the books as it is not my focus. I will say that it is easy to do so, however it is more of sticky notes, instead of seeing the mark-ups as you flip through the pages.NoteTaking:I love the paper feel/sound when writing and the Premium pen is ok. I do like the “eraser” on the end of the pen, making it quicker to correct a mistake. I have not marked up a PDF, however, I see that any notes written on them stay on the PDF and not hidden like sticky notes are.Templates: I would like a few more traditional templates. ... For instance, I prefer the college rule. The scribe has it, but the top line is not blank. Small preference, but it’s what I would like.Notebooks: easy to set up. However, It does not have layers, like the remarkable does. Layers allows for all of the pages to be displayed and reorganized or deleted. The scribe only allows for one page at a time viewing.I love being able to have my books and notebooks in one device. I had my Oasis and my 1st gen remarkable to carry around. Now, I have one device that I can use for work and play.16GB: True size is just over 11GB’s once opened and set up, due to the programming software size.Reading: Reading is a great experience as the options in lighting is excellent as usual. I don’t need buttons to change pages and the page turns are seamless. I have mine set to dark and adjusted the lighting to where it is perfect in the day or night, with no eye strain. I had no used this setting before, but am a huge fan now.Although the cover is a separate review, be careful. My scribe has fallen out of it twice already. I got the pink canvas one.Overall, I gave a 4 out of five stars because the programming software eats about 5gbs (probably should have expected this but Nope!!), the notes portion doesn’t have layers and the limitation on templates (18 but limited on style). The 4 stars are for my initial assessment and I will update within the next two weeks.

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Scribe. I was seriously considering other e-readers with pen abilities (like the Onyx brand). Many online reviewers were mixed and I felt the best way to experience was to go ahead and get one for myself. And I am really glad that I did.The Scribe is great as an e-reader. The 300ppi screen is amazing, better then Onyx’s 227 for their Note Air series. Reading books have been a joy on this. Yes, you are locked in to the Amazon eco system but their bookstore is vast compared to others. The response time and refresh rate is so quick on this. I understand why many reviewers disliked the inability to write up books, but that is a feature you can’t do on any Amazon ebook (if I’m mistaken). The little note tab indicating you ... I understand why many reviewers disliked the inability to write up books, but that is a feature you can’t do on any Amazon ebook (if I’m mistaken). The little note tab indicating you have a note on it is fine for me.Note taking is still a learning curve. The templates are more than enough, and writing is such a joy. The pen feels great in the hand, and with the premium pen, erasing is just as fun. Sending pdf files to the Kindle’s email is easy and your file shows up in the library. Marking those up is a breeze, and again, that 300ppi screen really makes a difference.I ended up getting the 32gb version. It went on sale the week after we I bought it, BB did a price match, and that extra money I ended up using on purchasing the denim cover. The cover is absolutely needed with this because holding it by itself is a risky thing. It is slippery and you don’t want to damage it.Overall, this is a great device. It is my primary e-reader now (my daughter now uses my Paperwhite 11th edition) and note taking device.
