Kinesis Freestyle 2 Keyboard

(76 reviews)

Kinesis is the market-leader in computer ergonomics and has been designing premium keyboards for more than 25 years. The award-winning Freestyle2 keyboard is perfect for those looking to increase their productivity or enhance their comfort, at home or in the office. The Freestyle2's unique split-adjustable design allows you to position the key modules at shoulder width or connect the included pivot tether to ""splay"" the key modules- choose the configuration that works best for your body type. Low-force, tactile keyswitches provide a satisfying typing experience and are very quiet. The Freestyle2 features an embedded numeric keypad for easy access to the 10-key. And since the Freestyle2 uses a standard key layout, there is no learning curve. Add the optional Palm Supports with gel pads to keep your wrists neutral, or add the VIP3 or V3 lifters which attach to the base of the keyboard to provide reproducible tent settings of 5, 10, or 15 degrees which greatly reduces forearm tension. PC-specific driverless hotkeys support common shortcuts like cut/copy/paste, multimedia actions, calculator and much, much more.

PSA: If you work at a desk and have #backpain ITS YOUR KEYBOARD!! (Probably) Get a separated keyboard. This is one version I also use a Mista for my Mac. I promise it will only take a second to get used to. I separated mine more and more over time. Seriously, think about the placement of your arms at your keyboard. It tightens up your entire upper back, makes you hunch.

Best keyboard for big hands and broad shoulders.

I'm not a big guy (6' 0" and a 44L), but I hate how my hands are always feeling cramped. Not any more. I can set this keyboard up so the I have 8-9" between my index fingers on the desk and my elbows comfortably on the arm rest. I highly recommend the VIP3 lifters and i even cut two pieces if 1x2 lumber and place under the front of the keyboard giving each half a lot on negative front to back tilt. This really works best if you have low desk height, of course the. You need monitor stands but. They make those too. I try to keep desk highly low and chair high so my elbows bend at 90 or close to it while typing. This is by far one of the most economical ergonomics keyboards available. ( my MS ergo 4000 wins on value this wins con comfort). The shortcut keys are great ... MoreI'm not a big guy (6' 0" and a 44L), but I hate how my hands are always feeling cramped. Not any more. I purchased these two items because of mild RSI in both wrists. And after using them for just a week, the discomfort is already subsiding. Both are great products and I'd highly recommend them to anyone regardless of whether you're experiencing RSI symptoms.Money well spent. The team at No More Pain Ergonomics was responsive and helpful because one of the packages was delayed due to the high demand on AustPost brought on by COVID-19. They managed that experience very well. So well done team.Steve

Excellent for Wrists

I had ulnar nerve damage from an accident which made my right wrist difficult to rotate and twist. The freestyle2 let me move my two hands into positions which made them both comfortable for extended periods of work. And since they freely move (not required to just pivot), I could adjust them independently as the work day moves on. This is a work-day saver. I absolutely recommend this to anyone suffering from wrist pain due to carpal or ulnar nerve issues. The absolute only downside is that the wrist pads were a separate expense rather than included (however I can understand how this may be a plus for some people). I would highly suggest getting the attachment as it allows for near 45 degree tilting of the hand rests.Overall, it is worth the expense. This keyboard has dramatically improved the tension in my arms and shoulders. Before they would ache and I would tire easily, needing frequent breaks to stretch. I love how it can be separated and positioned in a comfortable arrangement to suit my needs. It's compact and fits in my small backpack for remote work. I work with a variety of keyboards and wireless mice, and this is definitely my favourite. I only wish I had bought one years ago.

Keyboard is ok
31 July 2021

This keyboard is alright.. not sure how much this actually helps ergonomically, but it doesn't feel that bad. Some keys are so awkwardly placed that it makes you question their design decisions. For example the delete key is quite far from other keys, the b key is on the left side, and the ommision of the numpad is just a cash grab.Getting used to the keys like delete, pg up/down , home, end , takes forever!

Most ergonomic keyboard; love love love

This is my second freestyle 2 keyboard, this time for Mac. It is a little quirky, but overall, my shoulders, neck, and wrists have never been happier. I do a lot of typing and excel work, so having an ergonomic keyboard is necessary. Yes, my coworkers think I'm a nerd because of my keyboard with my mouse in the middle and I so do not care. My last keyboard lasted about 18 months before the space bar gave out. I bought a warranty this time, as I use the keyboard heavily every day. The issue was not with the key part but with the internal button. I do not know enough to fix it on my own :( The buttons do get a little clanky the more you use them. This does not bother me. I will continue to buy these... there does not seem to be anything better out there for the price ... MoreThis is my second freestyle 2 keyboard, this time for Mac. Not for me
11 November 2022

This wasn't for me. I have a compact Apple keyboard with quiet keys that are barely raised above the surface. So having the split plus the larger keys spaced a little farther apart was just too much. I was always hitting the wrong keys, and it was frustrating. Plus, it didn't seem to ease the tension on my wrists and elbows, which is why I had gotten it.

excellent ergonomic keyboard
4 November 2022

I have used this keyboard for the last 7 years. It is easy to use on my PC and laptop. No software needed to be installed. It is plug-and-play. It is helpful for the shoulders to have the width be the exact spacing I need. I am buying a 2nd one for the office so I can have them in multiple locations where I work in.

great keyboard!
26 July 2022

Hi! I've been using a keyboard like this for several years now, ever since I injured my neck. I highly recommend it for anyone with neck and/or shoulder injuries/pain, because you can keep your shoulders in a neutral position, instead of pinching them together or rolling them inward. This is especially true if you are a full-figured/busted women who has to navigate a round body. It puts extra stress on the area and this keyboard helps you customize your desk/keyboard set up to make it as ergonomic as possible. Again, if you have any kind of pain issues in the upper body, I would recommend this. I also recommend using a Contour Roller Mouse pro3 with this. It also allows you to leave your hands in neutral and use either hand to use the mouse.
