First time ko bumili ng ganitong kalaking capacity (512GB) na flashdrive, its like a miniature M.2 NVMe SSD, but very much lighter and portable✨Speed: Transferring large files transfer rates exceeded expectationsCapacity: The ability to carry such a substantial amount of data in such a compact form factor is truly impressive. For anyone needing top-tier performance & significant storage, the price point is justified.

The drive's speed was slow and had to be replaced. Kingston pre-formats these so it is reasonable to assume they would do a read/write test and should have known that the drive was slow. Was Kingston hoping to sell off inferior hardware hoping that some sucker didn't notice the slow speed? (The replacement functioned as fast as expected.)

Bought for backup - never finishes writing back up

Using this to back up 1 TB internal drive on M1 and M1 Pro Macs and CCC and other backup applications won't finish writing. Reformatted multiple times with no success. I think my unit is defective. Can't find out how to return for replacement with 5 year warranty. Help!

Device is good, cover is a little flimsy

Likes: it is small but works very well. At 512 GB, I can store a lot of information as back up. I like the fact that the flash drive fits into a protection pocket.Dislike: The protection pocket is not very sturdy. I have to use an adaptor for my MacBook, and so I have some concerns for the flash drive cover staying together. Time will tell.Overall, I am happy with the device.

FAST BUT FLIMSY
25 June 2022

The drive is quite fast; I get well over a sustained 800MB/sec on copies to and from my computer's SSD with bursts over 950 MB/s. But for the premier flagship product in the Kingston USB drive line, I'm surprised and the flimsy feel and inadequately designed keychain loop and protection cover for the USB-C. The plastic is THIN and the retractable cover doesn't latch positively when extended or withdrawn, making it difficult sometimes to get the stick inserted into a USB-C port. I had kinda expected a metal cover and better USB connector protection. I bought it online and hadn't had the opportunity to inspect it before purchase; I might have waited or checked the competition had I been able to check it first.

Immediately Corrupted
22 September 2023

I bought this flash drive and started moving files from my PC to it as a backup. Very shortly into this process the drive started having issues with duplicate files and ended up freezing up my whole computer. After it was unfrozen I lost access to the drive. It would show up in my devices as "unspecified" but there was nothing I could do to access the drive even after troubleshooting. I hope it starts randomly working one day but until then I can't recommend.

Works but not like I wanted it to.

All and all the drive is ok. There are a couple things I don't care for. 1. the loop where you can add a key chain ring to it is flimsy, I wouldn't trust it not to break. 2. The base of the unit is to wide to hook to my cell phone with the case on it. The drive I lost ( Not a Kingston) because of the flimsy plastic place for the key chain ring was small enough to connect to my phone without removing the case. I bought it to keep on my person at all times but I have decided to put it in the puter bag and keep looking for a suitable drive.

Works fine, but not as advertised.

To cut right to the chase: This isn't a bad drive, it is fast and holds plenty of data. I wouldn't give it a middling review if it weren't for the performance claims and the price, and maybe the construction. The big issue is that it just doesn't perform as claimed. It gets nowhere near 900MB/sec write, more like 220MB/sec. This is on a 11th generation laptop with a PCIe 4.0 nVME drive on a USB-C port. It has plenty of power to handle that speed, the drive just can't handle it. Given that the speed claims are one of the big reasons to get this drive, as opposed to something else, that makes it not such a good deal. Further its speed falls off a cliff after you've written 100-150GB or so in a session. Down to 10-20MB/sec or so. Further its speed falls off a cliff after you've written 100-150GB or so in a session. Down to 10-20MB/sec or so. It seems like it has a cache of fast flash, then when that has been depleted it slows way down.Likewise, its cost is not great, given the performance. It would be justified if the drive was truly as fast as advertised but given that it doesn't I think it is too expensive for what it is. If it were more like $80-100 then I think it might be a better value. Finally, given its price, I feel that its construction is a little sub par. It isn't bad, but I have other flash drives that are much sturdier. This is just thin plastic without a lot of support by the USB-C connector. I'd be mindful of it if plugged in on a laptop and not move the laptop until it is unplugged. So I guess in summary I'm not saying DON'T get it, it's ok, it'll do the job and it isn't slow. I probably won't return it... but if it were my money again, I'd get something else.
