Purchased this a few weeks ago to replace another brand which literally fell apart within 18 months and to match my KitchenAid mixer. So pleased I did as it includes all the accessories I'll ever need. Although part of the base is metal, it is reasonably light, so can be moved around easily. The base unit has rubber feet, so it will not damage your counter top.And it is so easy to store as all the accessories fit in a caddy which stores in the processing bowl. A particularly good feature is the way the bowl fits onto the base - a simple click so no more twisting and turning to try and get the bowl in place. Because the lid opens easily - no need to unscrew it - it's easy to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed. As this processor is so easy to use and has a large bowl, I'm using it much more than my previous one. I've also found that nuts and vegetables came out uniformly chopped and did not turn to powder or mush.The unit is quit high, so although you can probably store it on the kitchen bench, but you'll need to store the base and bowl separately in the cupboard. As with all kitchen equipment there are a few nooks and crannies likely to collect food scraps (eg. underside of the disks and around the blades), so it pays to be vigilant, especially if hand washing the items.This was an excellent choice for me, given its clever design, ease of use and good looks. Once again KitchenAid has come up trumps!

This is compact, and powerful enough for MOST of what I want to do with it. I only have a couple of gripes. Firstly, dicing. The dice is large and isn't capable of producing a dice small enough for anything like a sofrito, so I'm still having to dice by hand for a lot of recipes. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, carrots and harder veg tend to get stuck on the top of the dicer, so while most goes through, a lot doesn't. Cue more hand dicing of the stuck bits. I have always been the cook in my house and have a large binder of recipes that I make all the time. Now my wife says that I am more like a chef than a cook (the difference being, I guess, that I actually just make things without necessarily needing a recipe). Part of that journey has involved upping my game when it comes to kitchen tech.I already have a much smaller KitchenAid chopper that I LOVE and use all the time, but it can no longer handle everything I need to prep when I go all out. This new 13-cup food processor (better in French - robot culinaire), is a gorgeous beast that contains everything in a tidy and sturdy package.Now I have only been able to use this for one meal, and it wasn't my most elaborate, but would have been rather time intensive if I hadn't had this thing. The meal in question was a mighty platter of Irish Nachos for St. Patty's Day! Creating such a feast that my forefathers could have only dreamt of, would have taken hours of time with a knife and would have taken all of my fingers with a mandolin. The KitchenAid made short work of 5lbs of Yukon Gold potatoes. The slicer disk makes it easy to select a thickness (my previous food processor only had one setting), and away it goes! I filled two work bowls to the brim with delicious sliced potatoes in the time it would have taken me to slice maybe two potatoes the old fashioned way.Here is where I did run into a small problem though. I selected the '3' setting (out of a range of 0 - 6) but the slices that I got ranged from paper-thin to potato-plank. This is a problem because having such a wide range of thickness makes for uneven cooking. Now I wanted these chips to be a bit on the thick side so they would hold the toppings and have a proper 'bite' to them but only half of the slices were where I wanted them. The other half were completely useable but I had to segregate them (which took some extra time) to create cooking batches that would all cook at about the same time. I'm still not sure if this was a problem with the cutting disk or how I fed in the potatoes, but either way it added time to may task instead of taking it away.All that being said, the Irish Nachos were a hit, and I did my forefathers proud by sharing the native cuisine of my people. Clean up was super easy but here is where I ran into my other problem with this 13-Cup processor. The instruction guide says that everything should be washed in the upper rack of the dishwasher, but I can not do that with this prep-bowl. My dishwasher is only like 5 years old but the top rack does not have enough depth to hold this bowl and it had to go into the bottom rack. Now I know they say top rack to help prevent damage to pieces but it is going to have to be bottom rack or I'm going to have to hand wash that piece.Piecing everything back together into the storage caddy and back into the work bowl is a cinch and the base of the food processor has a nice cord-wrap underneath to keep that tucked away as well. Everything went back into a nice tidy package that would look just fine on the counter but packed away nicely in the cabinet.While the model that Best Buy carries is the middle one and lacks a few of the accessories of the top model, I think that it is definitely the best unit for the price and has what most people would want in a food processor. I'm going to pick up a few other accessories once KitchenAid makes them available on their site (or Best Buy stocks them), such as the storage lid and the dicing kit, but for right now I'm very happy with this device and it is going to get a lot of use over the years.
After using for probably about the 10th time since owning it, when I began to pulse the ingredients together a loud grinding sound happened and the blade wouldn’t turn, I had ingredients in the mixer, but took out the blade and replaced it back in and it then blended as normal while I added a few more ingredients, then when I emptied the dough and repeated the recipe, the 13cup bowl attachment would not snap back into place. After troubleshooting I saw the bottom plastic piece that connects to the base was cracked keeping it from connecting to the base. I then hand mixed my next double batch of cookies in the bowl without the blade attachment inside. I think we call all agree that no one wants to spend extra time cleaning and washing kitchen products if we don't have to.While this food processor has been a joy to use, probably my most favorite thing to make with this product so far are peanut butter and banana smoothies. I ordered the KitchenAid 13 cup food processor in December 2022, after my old machine finally broke. I was a little bit worried because my previous machine that broke was only 6 cups.But the kitchenaid is very nice and doesn’t take up as much space as I thought. The buttons are very solid. I was use to my old 1980s machine only had two blades so this does take a bit of getting used to because there are definitely more attachments. But it works fantastically and washed up great in my dishwasher. My only negative is that when you close the lid it makes kind of a clicking sound, which sounds like it’s gonna break. But it doesn’t.I made a smoked salmon dip/spread in there and the machine worked beautifully!Btw, Crate and Barrel was extremely fast at getting it shipped out. I really liked all the notices and great communication from them. It was my first time ordering something from crate and barrel. I would definitely do it again.

Easy to use, change out accessories, and clean.Does an excellent job of slicing however you may want to place softer product in the freezer for a brief period, this will make slicing easier, and you will have a uniform final product. The adjustable slicing blade works great and gives you a good variety of thickness to choose from. Solid product such as carrots will not require cooling and both the slicer and shredder will give you a final product that is even in size. The three-piece Food Pusher is another neat feature that helps to get a final product that is uniform in shape and size.The KFP1318 is built solid and is incredibly quiet during operation. Plenty of control with the Low, High, and Pulse controls. I am not an experienced user of Food Processors however the controls were enough for my needs. Our old Food Processor was a pain to work with and clean, so it did not get the use it could have.The Refrigerator Lid, Dicing Kit, and the French Fry Disc do not come with the KFP1318. These are accessories that would be nice to have however you will have to purchase these separately or purchase the KFP1320. Would have been nice if the Refrigerator Lid was included with the KFP1318, it is an accessory that fits on the storage unit.
Purchased the 13 cup Processor so that I am able to grate carrots on a daily bases to feed my chickens! Also like to make beetroot relish after we harvest... So far the processor has had 22 uses and the plastic is completely stained :( Plastic bowl is very flimsy and easily breakable! If you grate the carrots the end bits are not able to go through the process and jams around the top cover insert leaving you with big chunks. Cleaning process is really bad as you are faced with so many little edges and corners, and a lot of parts which need cleaning! The stainless steel cutting discs also have started to stain and are impossible to clean...
