I'll start by saying if you deal with a variety of tasks you might also consider getting the 7 inch model as well for smaller parts and this 10 inch model is their basic Cobra model. They also make a Quick Set model that once opened with the push button, can simply be slid into place and they will self lock where these need to have the push button used to open and close them. Also keep in mind the teeth on these are sharp and grip very well so you will mark the surface of pipes, brass fittings or softer materials with these if you are not careful (look at their Pliers Wrench if you frequently deal with surfaces/materials that mark easily). But with that all said, I simply love these pliers as they can bail you out of situations vice-grips can't due to their much ... MoreI'll start by saying if you deal with a variety of tasks you might also consider getting the 7 inch model as well for smaller parts and this 10 inch model is their basic Cobra model. The teeth on these pliers can withstand a huge amount of use and abuse without showing damage (both my 7 inch and 10 inch models teeth still look new despite my constant use) and the push button adjustment feature gives you much finer adjustment over opening size than your standard slip joint pliers. Then to top it off, the jaw configuration of these pliers allows these to grip almost any shape of object without slipping and these are lighter than say Channellock pliers of equivalent size which you come to appreciate when carrying a tool bag or tool box around.Simply put, while these are not the cheapest pliers around, if you can make the investment in these, you'll probably never buy another pair of pliers again and will love reaching for them whenever they are needed. I would say that makes them well worth the money over the cheaper competition out there.

First off if you're new to Knipex, they are amazing and worth every penny. More or less everything they make is amazing and will be the best for a specific design (e.g. needle nose pliers) and that includes Snap On. So it's really high praise to say that these might be my favorite set of Knipex Pliers, as I am fortunate to own 16 different sets of theirs. Much like everything they make, they are extremely durable and I have no concerns about them ever breaking as I don't remember even reading a review over a broken product they make let alone have one break on me. The adjusting mechanism is brilliant as it's the same one they use on multiple designs (which isn't a bad thing) . The reason I like these so much is that the head geometry, as they act very similar to needle nose pliers, but are easier to get much higher bite. If you can only own one set of their pliers the "classic" design is the way to go, these IMO are a close second. Highly recommend.

Purchased specifically for chain link hog rings which it is not really designed for and didn't function for that purpose so returned. Just wanted to note that they are very limited on movement for a channel type plier. For each setting will only open about half inch from set point. This is probably not relevant when using as a pump plier but why didn't work for me. Have used other brands and never encountered that issue. They are definately high quality and comfortable. Having said that I subsequently purchased the Irwins for $20, they have less play and can close without pushing the button, cant recall if the Knipex does.

Great for tight nooks and crannies of wherever bolts may be and its versatile with having a nut hex design in the back of the jaw, a flat bill for the front of the jaw, and the adjustable locking slider. The nut hex design is good for gripping nuts where youre screwing in the bolt and with Knipexs known leverage design (push from the top handle to force the jaws to close against the nut), youre either going to break the threads or your wrist, but never your Knipex. German engineering. The flat bill at the front of the jaw is dual purpose in clamping down ends like a metal lip or flat piece that needs to be shimmied in place AND it can be used for larger nuts or bolt heads with how long the flat section of the jaws are. German ingenuity. The adjustable locking slider is another staple of Knipexs advancement in use of everyday tools to make our work easier. No more slipping out of the grooves, no more misaligned handles as you grimace for the jaws to slip off, no more stuck jaws from damage and scoring of the metal, and most importantly, no more pinched fingers so you can keep on working all day long (and still give the Missus a nice tickle down under back home). German foresight.
I had to have these as I know Knipex makes the BEST tools. I had a pair that I lent to a (former) friend and never got back, hence the former... The slim head on these (~1cm width) with the tapered design lets me reach at things a regular set of Cobra Pliers can't get to. They open up one handed to over 4 inches or so and have padded handles for a slip proof strong grip. They have well hardened jaw steel with the trademarked COBRA design that beats all comers! I Highly Recommend these pliers for getting into a tight spot and getting a good grip. Even Charley Brown could get a grip with these! I hope youve found the information and my review helpful.
I strangely love these pliers. Kinda dual usage? I always prefer the thin handle Knipex for under hood clearance. The thicker handles I feel like dont let you squeeze as close together, and the extra outside diameter, as small as that is literally, gets in the way when working in tight quarters. I work on vehicles. Blue handle plier brand has wider jaws for pipe fittings. Knipex has better machined Axles and Hardened Jaws. Plus they rust less than my snap on pliers which do have to their credit the most comfortable grip (thick dipped) and hard carbon steel (that's why they rust, must oil)
Kind of like channel locks, but better? Definitely sharp teeth and more specific jaw width selection, but I haven’t found that to be much more useful than typical adjustable pliers, like channel lock. The adjuster button is a bit of a learning curve but it’s gets easier as time goes by. They bite hard that’s for sure, Handle shape is good. Rubber is comfortable. I recommend the flat jaw ones instead for nuts and bolts. But if you only had one pliers in your tool box this would be a good all round choice minus some good needle nose. For those check out the yellow Klein needle nose strippers ????
KNIPEX 10 in. Cobra Series Pliers with Extra-Slim Nose for Tight Spaces is a quality tool made from chrome vanadium. Its design is different from other pliers of this size. Its narrower and the jaws are more elongated than regular tool designs. This allows you to get into tight spots other wrench heads can't fit as easily. The KNIPEX has a jaw design in which there is a lock button to fix the opening. It can be more easily adjusted while on the nut by depressing the button and opening or closing the jaw. I found it helpful. The Cobra is comfortable to hold with its covered handles, thinner than others is secure holding and gripping nuts. One of these tools belongs in your toolbox at times when others won't do the job, but you'll start going to them first because its a comfortable tool to handle.
The Knipex 10-inch Cobra Series Pliers is a simple, yet unique design that was new to me. However, after using these Knipex Pliers for the past several weeks, I will now make this one of my go-to tools for almost any job requiring pliers. This design is head and shoulders above the old-style slip lock pliers, that always seem to lose the correct fit as soon as you move them, making you have to start all over and getting it set just right. That alone makes this an invaluable tool. The slim design does make it easier to get a grip on objects in tight spaces. However, it also seems heavy duty enough to handle anything a 10-inch plier is designed to do. Good tool to have.
These look to be the best pliers of this type I've ever seen. They're a bit pricey, but I like everything about them. I like the extra-slim, long nose. The teeth in the jaws are finer than others, and there are even teeth behind the notched potion. They are hardened to approx. 61 HRC which is harder than others and should prevent stripping. The finer adjustment slots allow for finer adjustment to fit objects better.. The spring-loaded push-button locking mechanism makes them very easy to adjust, and will hold that setting well, while using. The pipe portion of the jaws will firmly grasp any size pipe from 1/8" to 3/4" very well. Could probably use them up to 1", but that might be pushing it a bit, since 1" does not quite fit into the notched part of both jaws ... MoreThese look to be the best pliers of this type I've ever seen. I normally use a pipe wrench on any pipe other than plastic anyway, so this is not really an issue for me. I also don't normally use pliers for square or hex nuts or bolts, but prefer correctly sized wrenches. However, the design of the notches in these jaws allows them to fit hex quite well, although they are a fraction big on SAE size hex, so are likely made to fit metric better. The flat portion of the jaws opens to 1-1/4" for a good, square fit. Other than the price, I am very impressed with these pliers. But, then again, you get what you pay for. Excellent tool.
