I was quite pleased with the results I got from Ultramax 400, considering the affordable price point of the film. I shot mostly in overcast conditions, or on a winter's day with the sun low in the sky. This resulted in images that are a bit flatter than I had expected, but I didn't find them unpleasing (in fact, the results in these conditions weren't too dissimilar from those I got out of the much more expensive Portra 400). I am looking forward to using Ultramax again in proper sunshine, when I expect the colours to pop a bit more.

At the time I am writing this, I have already used two rolls. I’m currently on my last one so I have already thrown out the box! But everything came in perfect condition. I’m so happy with my order. And that it was for a very affordable price! I was skeptical because of reviews I’ve heard about the website on like reddit. But honestly this was a great experience in terms of buying film. Def will buy again!

As a beginner on a budget, this film is perfect. Accurate reproduction of colours and sharp images have made this film a fast favourite. I've used it for everything from golden summer evenings to darker winter days, and have been satisfied with the results. I've even used it for long exposures of star trails and that has given great results too. Highly recommend!

Have been doing photography for about 7 years now and have always loved the nostalgic look of film. By chance I was recently given a Pentax K1000 35mm camera and so needed some film. Kodak Ultramax seemed like a good entry price point and film speed, so opted for that. I’m really happy with the images I got back. It has a nice amount of grain that adds that filmic quality but is does produce quite a cool colour temperature, so a slight blue cast even on warm, sunny days. I would buy this film again but as a film newbie, I have many more to try first!
If you enjoy film photography then you know how difficult it is to find it at a reasonable price. Kodak Ultramax is only available at this price at Target. It sells very fast you have to buy it as soon is back in stock. The quality of your images depends on both the stock you decide to shoot with and the photographic equipment. If you are an SLR shooter this film won't disappoint. But remember, get it before it sells out.
I’ve just started using film again after a long gap.25 years ago I invariably used 400 film - I’ve never liked flash and it was great for doing low light shadowy and indoor shots. So when I bought a 60 year old Agfa Super Silette on EBay I used a 400 film to test it without really thinking it through. I also had to use a light meter, something I’ve never had to do with any of the cameras I’ve used in the past. Inevitably I made a lot of mistakes.Anyway, all wasn’t lost. I’ve proved the camera works well (I’m not convinced about the light meter which appears to have died now). Where I got it right (for me) the colours were spot on and I was really pleased with the results.I do like my woodland shots taken into the sun. Where I got it right (for me) the colours were spot on and I was really pleased with the results.I do like my woodland shots taken into the sun. This is achievable with this film if you’re careful breaking the rules. It’s really great for high contrast between shadow and light and indoor natural light.I will definitely use Ultramax again but probably a 100 or 200 next time with this camera. 400 will remain my default on my more versatile SLRs.
It's kodak so it's got good colours. I prefer shooting this to portra because it's cheaper and so I don't end up overthinking it. It's 400 so it's suited to British weather is my figuring on it. I think I've accidentally shot at 200 and 100 and still got okay frames, so it's forgiving. It's a great, forgiving film for beginners and learning. I'd use it anywhere for anything if I could, I'm guessing it's just Gold 400 rebadged but I don't know. I've always leaned towards 400.
Glad Target is carrying film again. It’s Ultra Max. Nice golden hues, reds pop. Nice grain. A good amount of my memories were captured on this in the 90s. I would prefer rolls of 36 exposures instead of 24 as the cost of developing is by roll not per frame. The price is MSRP and not marked up like you see online these days. Picked up a pack in support of Target carrying 35mm film again.
My first time using an older film camera (Yashica EZ Zoom), and this film did a great job of capturing golden and vivid colours. The blurry shots had a cinematic effect thanks to the retention of colour. Also boasts a surprisingly long range, even during falling light. Portraits are best in low lighting with flash, or on a cloudy day with sun directly overhead.
I always think of Ultramax as the big brother of ColorPlus. It's quite saturated and contrasty, which means I don't always love having it in my main camera. I think it's a good film to have in a point & shoot because ISO 400 is so versatile. The dynamic range isn't very forgiving, and in my experience it doesn't do very well when pushed - the grain is too pronounced, the shadows are murky and any colour cast gets even stronger (see my winterscape photo). What I do like about it is the way it renders blues - Gold is my favourite stock, but I never like how the sky comes out when shooting it. Ultramax on the other hand, I'm happy using it into blue hour because of the higher ISO and the way the colder tones look.
