This toy is exactly as described and more! I am in my 4th summer with an 80lb Mountain Cur/Pit mix rescue who has chewed and swallowed the hard plastic frisbees… in minutes. In addition, this dog will only fetch tennis balls for the neighbor kids, refuses to bring anything back to me… until now. He is obsessed! We are finally playing fetch! To boot, after a few weeks there are no puncture holes or tearing. Granted I don’t let him sit and chew on it, but basically no wear and tear from frequent, normal use. I will order another just to have as backup in case I throw it over the fence. Thank you Kong!

I am disappointed with the KONG flyer “frisbiee” that I received! It was partially packaged with cardboard. It appears roughed up, with scuffs and scratches. I washed it throughly hoping it would improve the appearance. However, the scuffs, smudges and rough appearance remain even after a soapy scrub. It still looks used and roughed up. If you’re looking for a quality frisbee for your pet, this KONG Flyer might not be the right choice. I gave it 1 star because it does fly like a frisbee. Can’t help but wonder where this item has been and why it look so beat up? Do I want my pet chewing and putting it in their mouth? No, I really don’t.

Doesn't fly well

We'd been used to the black kong flyer (extreme flyer) which got destroyed in a game of tug; I thought I was buying a different colored disc that was otherwise the same, but I was wrong. The "classic" flyer is much stiffer than the "extreme" flyer, with a hard ridge of rubber on underside. It's heavier and doesn't fly well at all. Maybe a better choice for an aggressive chewer, but my Vizsla loves to fly down the field after a long-distance throw, and this doesn't work for that.

Easy on the mouth and teeth...
21 January 2023

We have been purchasing these for a while now. Our dog is obsessed with frisbee and we were always on the lookout for something that would last. In the process, we found a durable one however one day realized her mouth had been cut while playing. This flyer was a little awkward for me at first with it being floppy as opposed to a typical frisbee. Once I got used to it, it worked just as well and we've not gone to any others. She has chomped on it and they have still lasted for a long time. She doesn't chew up her favorite stuff though. If your dog likes to chew up things, obviously you might want to put it up until play time. It's not something you would want to leave with heavy chewers. It's definitely a great frisbee/flyer.

Favorite toy ever!

We bought a backup because our Irish Setter, Annie, plays with this every single day. She will play frisbee until we make her stop for water! She loves that it bends and she can throw it around while she’s running it back to us. She’s not a heavy biter on certain toys so our first doesn’t have any holes or rips yet. We’ve had it for at least 2 months so far. We played frisbee even in the snow! If she loses this one or it eventually gets worn out, we don’t want to have a day without. She refuses tennis balls now.

Fly’s well, sturdy but flexible & soft
24 May 2023

I was surprised at how well it flies - it’s really almost identical to a frisbee in terms of aerodynamics. The difference is that it’s soft and flexible and won’t hurt yr dog’s mouth when they catch it. Our dog was very curious about it and ran away with it a few times to give it a chew. I accept that it really isn’t made for that but I was surprised nonetheless that she tried her best (before I got to her) but failed. It’s not gonna get holes from their teeth from “catching” (as advertised). I’m impressed and really happy with this purchase. We bought the small as she is used to a small frisbee but I will buy the large one too now because I’m won over to the kong frisbee side after today’s play outside with it.

From a longtime Kong buyer

Wow. What a disappointment. I spent so long pouring over reviews and searching the huge amount of offerings for just the perfect Christmas gift for my year old retreiver grandpuppy. He loves catching frisbees and the first one he learned with was this Kong. Somehow it was lost and replaced with other plastic ones which he also enjoys. I chose to spend my money on another Kong to replace the one he'd lost. They opened it with him Christmas morning, took his picture with it and went on opening gifts. A few minutes later they looked over to see him surrounded by shredded and chewed red rubber. He had destroyed it in mere minutes. Not only for the time I spent looking for the perfect gift, the money I spent on it and the fact that he never even got outside with it even once. Had I known this would happen, I would've thrown him a twenty dollar bill to chew up. Maybe Kongs just aren't what they used to be. Save your money. Next year I'll buy him treats to enjoy and for now his beat up plastic frisbees will have to do. Save your money.

Hands Down the BEST Frisbee for Fetch
10 August 2023

Love, love, love this frisbee. The small size is hands down the best frisbee for fetch out of all the dog toys we have ever tried and we have spent hundreds on trying new ones throughout the years. The first one we got lasted over 5 years before the edge started to tear off and even then it flew pretty well and lasted a few more months. This frisbee is the one we used to teach her to chase down a frisbee and catch it midair so it has a special place in my heart. It is well balanced, durable, and easy to throw, even if you aren't experienced with the frisbee. Once you get the hang of it it's easy to throw it over 50 yards and that is amazing exercise for the dog. It is well balanced, durable, and easy to throw, even if you aren't experienced with the frisbee. Once you get the hang of it it's easy to throw it over 50 yards and that is amazing exercise for the dog. The small frisbee flies straight whether you're throwing it a short distance or down the length of a football field. It is insane how accurately you can throw this frisbee, which is critical when trying to get your dog to catch it. I felt like I had more control throwing this frisbee even compared to the regulation frisbees we use for disc golf. We even practiced tricks with it where I'd have her sit in one spot at least 15-20 feet away and throw the frisbee as fast as I could right above her head and she would jump up, catch it in midair while doing a 180 half cartwheel and land facing away from me. It was so satisfying to throw it and see her catch it almost every time. It's so easy that you can record yourself with your phone in one hand and tossing the frisbee with the other one. My dog loves it so much that after catching it you could literally see her prancing and skipping around holding the frisbee up for all to see her prize.I love how soft and flexible it is because my dog hated catching plastic frisbees. Even if she misses a catch and gets hit in the face with this one, it doesn't hurt her. We also like the ChuckIt series of fetch toys but that canvas tears so much more easily than the rubber on this frisbee. The ChuckIts would get dirty so fast and be impossible to clean but with this kong, you just need to run som hot water and use a paper towel to wipe off any dirt or grime after a play session. I loved being able to fold it in half and stick it in my back pocket for our walks to a local field or dog park. Actually, my dog liked this toy a little too much because she started getting possessive over it at dog parks so we only use it when we have an open space to ourselves or are with other dogs that won't try to take the frisbee from her.It is pretty durable and holds up to my aggressive chewer who once in a while takes her frisbee to a corner to take a chew break. While it is durable, it is definitely not meant to be left with a dog unsupervised. Those who are saying that it did not stand up to their dog - this product is not meant to be left alone with a dog. It is thin and can be shredded pretty quickly if they get at it with their molars. I also don't believe that there is ANY product that could completely stand up to aggressive chewers but if there was, I would trust Kong to make it. I got turned onto their products after we had a lot of success using the Kong classic - which is pretty indestructible - we have one that has lasted 8 years and started to feel tacky from the rubber hydrolyzing after so much time.If your dog can catch, fetch, or just likes to play with frisbees outside, I would highly recommend this toy. It is easily the best money I have ever spent and for the low cost we paid for it, we have used it thousands of times (I did the math). We picked up the large size when we retired the small one but that's only because I had trouble finding the small one in our local pet stores. The large one is okay but it is much heavier, much more difficult to throw, and doesn't fly as far. It's still a good option for larger dogs who aren't as agile as the small/medium sized dogs since it is a bit thicker and is a good size for a larger mouth. I tried ordering a small on Amazon last year and we received a large so I thought they just discontinued the small one. We gave that new one to a doggy friend who has seen us play with the frisbee and mentioned they wanted one. Now that I see Chewy has the small in stock, I'll see if we can snag one or two up!

KONG…your killing my wallet

I don’t usually write reviews but this is my Australian cattle dogs most favorite toy in the whole world. I call it his red muzzle because he literally holds it in his mouth and runs around the dog park chasing and barking at his dog friends. Never drops it. He also does amazing jumps in the air to catch this frisbee. Sadly, they seem to be getting less durable because they used to last for 5-6 months with him playing with it almost every day. He will push it around with his nose and flip it in the air after he catches it so he’s quite rough with it and it still lasted so long The last one I bought lasted a month and now has a huge rip in it. Ugh. I don’t think he will like any other toy so I just keep spending the $.
