5-Star product in a 2-star bottle, disappointing!!

I love La Mer products, however the design of the toner bottles is very disappointing. After 14 hours long haul flight, I found out the la mer leaked in my luggage. I hand tight the lid till there is no more turn, it is not 100% sealed, perhaps caused by high air pressure. I don't usually write reviews, however this is the 3rd time it happened of a different la mer toner bottom. When the issue first occurred, I super tighten the lid and kept it in a zip bag. I typically use Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Cloths (and sometimes the regular liquid version), but am always interested in giving other brands and products a try. One thing I look for in a product marketed as micellar water is whether or not my face feels clean/naked (ie doesn’t feel like I’m wearing any products) after use. The La Mer micellar water is specifically said to leave the face feeling clean and that you won’t need any follow-up rinse with plain water after using it. LIES. Of all the micellar waters I’ve tried, this one leaves my face with the worst residual texture/feeling—there’s no way I can’t rinse with plain water after I use this, really. I’ve used it both to remove makeup and also just as a general refresher if I’m not already wearing any makeup ... MoreI typically use Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Cloths (and sometimes the regular liquid version), but am always interested in giving other brands and products a try. Regardless of application method, after using it my face feels sort of sticky, definitely not clean or refreshed. It does work well at removing makeup, so I’m just going to have to treat it as a makeup remover instead of a micellar water. I tried a sample of the Drunk Elephant micellar product recently, and it’s overall a much more effective and affordable option, IMO.

I bought this a week ago and incorporated it into my Korean double cleansing method. I love how this is a no rinse formula as a lot of other micellar waters I’ve tried (Bioderma all 3 types, Garnier, and Simple to name a few) all leave somewhat of a sticky residue, which I didn’t experience at all from this one. I use it on a 1/2 cut up piece of Shiseido cotton pad after rinsing off my cleanser and found the cotton pad to come out slightly grayish/yellow. It’s definitely getting off residual cleanser along with dust/pollution as my pores have been looking a lot smaller and my closed comedones are starting to clear up. Also a plus that it doesn’t sting my sensitive eyes when i use it to remove my Fenty eyeliner and Japanese mascara. Disappointed

I love the brand and use several of their products. I also love micellar water and was very excited to try theirs. At $90, this is up there in comparison to other brands. I also use A LOT of La Prairie so price usually doesn't factor into my purchases. If something works well, I use it. I use La Mer in the am and La Prairie in the pm.The first thing that hit me was the scent. It doesn't smell at all like other La Mer products which are generally quite pleasant. This immediately reminded me of a nail polish remover, but not as strong. Even still, not exactly a relaxing fragrance. It worked fine. I don't wear foundation or anything so it needn't be a workhorse for me. I like to use micellar water in the morning after cleansing with The Cleansing Gel (which smells AMAZING), or when I'm too exhausted to do my full pm routine. It didn't dry out my face which is key. But it didn't perform any better than Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water at around half the price (liquid form, not the cloths). Additionally, the ingredients list is a rather lengthy given the simplicity of micellar water. By no means am I one of those people who wants natural products or even cares. But when comparing out of pure curiosity, it was decidedly astounding- just the sheer amount of ingredients in comparison to other all other micellar waters I've used. I gave my bottle away and won't be repurchasing. I go back and forth between Koh Gen Do and Bioderma. Simpler, effective, less expensive, and both virtually have no scent. It's water, after all.

Good stuff! I can see my skin getting better

I like this product. I wear quite light makeup. My makeup routine is always like this primer, cushion foundation, blush, a little bit of conturing powder for my nose, eyebrow powder. I wear lash extensions so I don’t really wear eye makeup. This micellar water takes all my makeup off by using 2 cotton pads. There is no need to really soak the pads for me but gotta get them wet enough. I try to take off eye makeup sometime but it takes more to remove all the colors and waterproof eyeliner. Also, I can see my skin is improving. At first, I was afraid that only using this without washing my face with face wash would break me out. Oh boy! I was wrong. This little friend is amazing for those who would get lazy at night after a long day like me. It can take off everything ... MoreI like this product. I wear quite light makeup. Yes La Mer is expensive but it works beautifully and gives me a really good feeling of cleanliness and luxury. A real treat. Have used it since it was first launched in the US when my sister would ship it over to me.Have just tried another brand which is also good but I will be returning to La Mer which is Simply the Best.

Not the cleansing gel!
11 April 2023

I bought this because the cleansing gel was out of stock for a long time, thinking this was the replacement. It doesn't remotely compare!First, it is a screw-on top, which is a pain when you're washing your face. Next, it doesn't have a pump, so you pour the liquid into your hand, which wastes product. Also, the smell is very clinical--more like an astringent or alcohol odor. And, it doesn't foam at all--it feels like you're just rubbing alcohol on your face. Finally, it doesn't feel like it cleans! This was the most disappointing La Mer product I've ever purchased. I'll use it all because it's too expensive to waste, but will never purchase again. Remove Make-up, Cleanse, Tone and Hydrate in One Step!
30 July 2021

After years of trying a myriad of skincare products over the years, both high end and budget, I'm convinced La Mer is worth the expense. However, although I've purchased quite a few La Mer products now, I've never before felt compelled to write a review ... but The Cleansing Micellar Water is AMAZING! It's especially great late at night when you're too exhausted to follow all the steps of your usual skincare routine. With a few sweeps of the face, this product, not only effectively removes make-up, but it leaves your skin feeling cleansed, toned, and surprisingly hydrated! It's like a one-step beauty regime when you just can't be bothered with anything more!

nice looking packaging but not practical. No Pump and I find it cumbersome to unscrew the cap and pour out onto a cotton pad. It works, takes off the makeup as any micellar water and honestly I would repurchase and give 4 stars if It wasn't for the stinging, it STINGS. I don't have sensitive skin or eyes but wow. Something that goes this close to the eyes shouldn't sting. LOVE the cleansing oil from La mer

I do used La Mer products’s range. And i love it. The smells so good. I used it at day and night as make up remover. Especially when i just make natural make up. It will make my skin much better. Feelin fresh. It doesn’t make my skin any big changes which is good. Even though it a bit pricey, but it good for me. So maybe i will keep repurchased it. Thank you La Mer for good products .
