LaCie 4TB Mobile Portable Drive USB Type-c Moon Silver

I bought this external drive back up for sale which is always a plus. I like that it is the "rugged type" it has a rubber cover that protects it if it is dropped. It is doing a great job backing up my Mac Computer. Im happy

Fast & durable

I use the LACIE 4TB for my mac book pro's Time Machine backup. It is fast. It come with 2 connections USB C to USB C for the newer computers and USB 3 to USB C for those of us who have an older computer. I was able to back up 590GB in about 2 hours. If you are looking for a fast durable portable hard drive, this is the drive for you. I LOVE IT, and I know you will too.

Fast, portable & beautiful

I chose this over WD and Seagate (although Lacie is now owned by Seagate) for its reliability, USB C connection and nice design. It is portable and fast. This is my 3rd Maxie hard drive but my first portable one, My other 2 are desktop ones. Never had an issue. Highly recommended.Officeworks also price matched it. Very happy customer.

Good Looking Drive

I brought 2 HDDs on holiday discounts. Overall, I like these drives. These drives cost about 35% more than the typical WD or Seagate external portable drives having the same storage capacity. I don't notice any differences in performance or technology enhancement between the LaCie as compared to WD or Seagate. In summary, the LaCie mobile drives are:1) It feels solid. It has an Aluminum body and weights slightly more than a typical plastic body HDDs.It does has an aesthetic look of silvery and slim body, diamond corner cut.2) The drive spins very silent and not noticeable vibration.3) Transfer speed - I read other reviews that these drives are slower than others. In my observation, they are about the same speed as other drives using USB 3.0 or USB 3.1.3) ... MoreI brought 2 HDDs on holiday discounts. Overall, I like these drives. It is not bothersome for me.4) The drive lays flat on the bottom with no rubber feet. To prevent it from sliding, I added a silicone case around the drive (see picture). The silicone case also prevents helps to reduce shock or bumps.

Great Backup & Archive USB-C Drive for Mac Users

I love these drives for Time Machine Backups. Great for Mac users or anyone else firmly in the USB-C world. We have several of the 4TB model. Obviously this is a spinning drive. If you want good storage space for a decent price, this is a great option. Get an external SSD if speed matters more than storage size and price.

Great size very handy device

Had LaCie external hard drives before and been very pleased with themNeeded to replace a hard drive which needed a power supply to work And was not practical for using with my MacBook. So liked the look of this one.Over all very happy works perfect and great size not to bulkyNot the cheapest around but well built so seemed the best optionOnly issue is that on two of the top corners the paint is chipped or not been fully covered with paint. See attached photosDecided not to return the item as needed it straight away and at the end of the day it doesn't affect the performance of machineWould definitely recommend

Honestly slower than some of my USB 3 drives from 2019

Yeah the headline says it all, I bought this with intent to make it a master backup but I should have known better. It's slow to preview files contained within in finder let alone back up. A bit of a waste unfortunately, just spring for an SSD.

LaCie Mobile Drive

Drive works great. Set up was flawless. Sales department was asked if the cable was compatible with previous LaCie drive. They said it was, but was incorrect and needed an adapter.

Little Gem

Purchased to replace my old Porsche Hard drive which finally stopped working after many years excellent service. Simple and easy to install, I'm using it entirely with Apple Time machine. Classic elegant design, much smaller than my previous unit, fits neatly under my iMac. Great service from John Lewis as usual delivered to local collection point within 24 hours.

No longer a Lacie fan...

I used to swear by Lacie. This is the second external hard drive by Lacie that died within a few months. Because the drive is so inexpensive I did not pay the 25% extra for the 2-Year Accidental Geek Squad Replacement, so that is on me. But I am done with Lacie. I have six year old Lacies that still run, but apparently the company is no longer good.
