The Good: This is a wonderful product and if you like the original Laneige Sleeping Mask there is a great chance you'll love this one. However, it must be noted that this is not a "balm" or a sleeping mask, so if you're looking for the exact formulation of the sleeping mask you won't find that in this product. Whenever a sale rolls around I always stock up on at least 2-3 of these. For a colorless lip product with a great scent: this is definitely one of my go-to's.The Bad: Performance wise, there's not really anything that comes to mind which is "bad" about this product.The Ugly/Honest: This product is expensive for what it is. I own higher end lip products but let me explain... The lip sleeping mask is 0.7oz and costs $22 while this is only 0.35oz and costs $17. That's half the product of the sleeping mask at only a $5 discount. The formulation of these two products has to be extremely similar and the sleeping mask packaging is much more luxurious than this basic lip balm tube. I love this product, but in reality it should be a few dollars cheaper. For how much of this you will go through by using it as a balm or a gloss topper, you'll be shelling out a pretty penny to keep stock of this product (welcome to the club).

This sinks into my skin easily and leaves no sticky or oily residue behind. I find this toner to be quite soothing, especially when my skin may be irritated, and calming. It gives me that extra punch of hydration I need at night when using retinol or after my AHA/BHA peel. My skin is always visibly more supple and soft after use. I am almost done with the bottle and haven’t seen a change in texture or any kind of smoothing. It does contain alcohol and it’s always disappointing when I see it listed high on an ingredient list. I love LANEIGE products, especially Water Bank and Cream Skin Lines, this one isn’t a favorite. I do think it’s worth a try if you have normal or dry skin and are looking for a new toner. If you have oily skin I would recommend trying the version for combination and oily skin. Those with sensitive skin I would probably avoid because of the alcohol and fragrance. This product has a shimmery pearlescent vibe that once applied melts into more of a glassy gloss with barley any shimmer. It has a cooling sensation which isn’t super intense but I believe it does provide a bit of plumping. The scent is fades from minty to tropical, like a frozen pineapple colada. I like that this contains peptides to help reduce the look of fine lines as well as to help plump. It also contains coconut oil which is incredibly moisturizing but keep in mind if you have sensitive skin it could cause irritation/blemishes. This is not the best experience and I also wonder how cleanly it is to keep using and storing this back into a small container that cannot be opened or cleaned itself. There is a soft cooling/tingling sensation on the lips immediately after application - almost like a tingly minty aftereffect which might be the ‘“plumping†ingredients at work. The pink shimmers are a lovely touch and will dissolve away over time - you definitely have to be looking for them to notice them. The balm in the jar looks iridescent and magical - almost like a unicorn lip balm from a fantasy world. As beautiful as this product looks, I do not believe it to be as effective or functional as the sleeping mask, which will remain my go-to for the ultimate hydration in my lip care routine.

I am flabbergasted that there are any less than 5 star reviews for this amazing product. I am 40 with chronically dry lips and have purchased just about every lip balm in existence but this is the first time that I’ve not only made sure to use every single drop in the tube, but made sure to re-purchase before I ran out.This balm is hydrating, smells and tastes great, and makes your lips feel like they are being hugged by cashmere. When it wears off it doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry again like most other lip balms do. Until I noticed they started peeling? Gave benefit of a doubt and continued use for about another week, thinking maybe my lips were simply “detoxing” from my other lip balm brand. The more I used this lip balm, the more they peeled. I ceased use and went back to what I used prior. My lips went back to normal. I waited a month, and tried this lip balm again. I ended up getting a fungal infection from this lip balm, on outer corners of my mouth, which now needs treatment with steroid topical cream. (Apparently triggered by certain products, but only product I had been using was this lip balm!). I am extremely upset this didn’t work for me, as their lip mask did not do this to me. But now, my lips won’t stop peeling, even with a different lip balm on to heal them. I have a road of recovery now to look forward to, as this lip balm has seriously ruined my lips…
