I never write product reviews. However, this tool has come in handy more times than I can remember. All tools are handy, no unnecessary ones are taking up space. My only three improvements on this design would be:- Better knife steel. 420HC is decent and gets the job done, but I have to touch up the blade quite a bit.- Add tweezers.- Pocket clip has a tendency to get in the way. Never created too big of a hotspot, but I could see how some would complain.

I have owned two of these. This knife immediately became my EDC. The blade geometry is perfect for utility work of all kinds. The handle is extremely comfortable (once you switch the pocket clip) and allows for good control-similar to a Corsican Sperone. The tools are all great and the scissors are a must in my opinion. My only criticism is the color. When you use a knife with multiple tools you often put it down while working. The dark grey color is a detriment to finding the knife in many locations-inside buildings with lots of cement or grey carpeting-which is pretty much every modern building. I was a bit disappointed by this. I was hoping it was smaller. It is a pretty large and heavy knife/tool to carry everyday. This would be fantastic for camping, hiking and/or hunting. Or in lieu of carrying a full-sized Leatherman. But for an everyday all day carry knife this is not a comfortable choice.Again, the quality of this knife/tool is by far top notch, just not what I was looking for.

It’s a great utility style knife. The blade is VERY sharp, has a great contour and holds it’s edge. The “tools” fitted to the knife are handy as well. Plan on it being wider though with some weight to it. Wider to fit the tools, heavier because of the amount of stainless steel overall. The best part about Leatherman products is they’ll be around and ready for years and years.
Things a good little tool.Purchased this for my wife. She is a field technician in the medical world. I told her it was actually a gift for someone else and she was disappointed. I handed it to her to "try". She used the scissors and the screwdriver in a matter or minutes. She told me to order another one because this one was hers. ...Thanks Leatherman. This will get some mileage she's already pulled it out a few times before I could get my EDC out.
Have owned a leather man since they started selling them. Tried the Gerber's, SOG's, and a few of the cheap brands. The original leatherman brand has always been superior. I always wanted that was mostly knife and fewer tools, but needed to have, at the very least, a Phillips screwdriver. This knife fills the bill. A little wider through the rear of the grips than it needs to be, but the blade has a great design...tends to "pull itself" into what you are cutting. Also, most knife/tool makers use inferior steels, this knife arrives truly sharp. (Be careful) Most companies say theirs are sharp right out of the box, but they lie. The leather man arrived shaving sharp. Have carried/used it for a week now, truly enjoy it.
I can't begin to express how writing this review. I own about the Leatherman products and I bought the knife or multitool started using it and that was the end of the discussion. The Free K4 was problematic from the beginning with opening and locking. Now it is closed and has locked itself and will not open. I am always happy with my purchases from Sportsman's Guide this is a first for me.
I love leatherman products and use them on a regular basis. The K4 is an interesting knife... There are 100s of youtube videos if you want specifics and reviews. For me, its a nice truck knife or bag knife. To be expected ~ the blade is large and the handle is chunky due to the tools in the grip - so it be a bit much for a EDC carry knife but it can be done. Quality, fit and finish is great and I look forward to using it for many years to come.
It's a Leatherman, so the expectation is that it is a tough and rugged multi-tool. I have carried the Free K4 daily as my EDC for about 2 months now and this tool has not disappointed me yet. The blade is very functional and sharp, and can handle most EDC tasks. The ancillary tools (awl, drivers, and scissors) are also pretty useful. Other than the main blade, I use the scissors more than any of the other tools included. The beauty of this tool is that all are accessible with one hand, and also lock/unlock with one hand, very quick & easy. I own a few other Leatherman multi-tools, and the K4 is just as solid and well constructed as the others. If you are looking for a basic multi-tool that can handle most daily EDC chores, I would recommend the Free K4.
This is first pocket knife and so do not have anything to compare it to. Even though I have small hands, it feels very easy to handle and I can get a firm grip. However the extra tools require more effort than the push of your thumb. That’s okay though as I will be using the knife mostly and occasionally the scissors.
