A little pricy but a good overall product

I just finished putting this together. It's 4 bags well labelled. I did bags 1 and 2 and rhe I didn't get back to it for a bit and finished it off. I had problems getting the button to push out the photo. I looked at rhe instructions and tried a few things and it didn't work. There could have been a better instruction here by Lego.I watched a YouTube review of the mechanism working and I was able to determine my issue but I can to really fiddle with it.I'm a photographer so I liked this set. A bit on the expensive side but a nice addition to my collection.

I've been building since 1996, but I find it increasingly difficult to justify purchasing any more sets, and this Polaroid camera is the perfect example of why.$80 for 500 pieces - seriously? The Ideas theme was one of the last bastions of creative sets at a reasonable price (not affordable, just reasonable). Now, it seems to be just another place where Lego can jack up prices, and stick it to their adult customers. The sheer fact that you can purchase a REAL Polaroid camera, for less money than this non-functioning model, is an absolute joke. After decades of being a diehard Lego fan, I find myself looking for other things to do.

Bit on the pricy side but a great build overall!

When I first saw the marketing images for this set I wasn’t entirely sure with the price being quite steep. But after seeing it in person in a Lego store I was convinced and bought it. I have no regrets as this was a very fun and different build to the other sets I’ve built recently. The feature of the film printing when you press the shutter is great and works every time. The only minor complaint I would have is the sticker on the exposure dial doesn’t seem to be very strong and is already peeling off after only a day but that’s not the end of the world. Overall I really enjoyed building this and I can’t wait to pick up the retro camera 3in1 to go alongside it!

Flimsy and frustrating
3 February 2024

Like other critical reviewers, I found this a very frustrating set to build, especially where it came to enabling the action part of the camera. The instructions on how to set the crucial action arm controlled by the rubber bands were absent. It was only by painstakingly disassembling it and reassembling it twice that I realized the mistake wasn’t mine. The schematics just didn’t show the necessary positioning of the action arm. Once I figured that out on my own, I did get the photo to eject. Once. The force of that action dislodged a bunch of internal pieces, which forced a third partial rebuild. I tried a few more times and though it seemed I had the build solid, something else internal would give way. So, as others noted, the fragility of the build was definitely ... MoreLike other critical reviewers, I found this a very frustrating set to build, especially where it came to enabling the action part of the camera. Great Design but Missing/Provided Incorrect Piece
2 February 2024

Overall it is great build. I enjoyed it. The design was well thought out. However, the reason why I lowered the build experience was because again it was missing Lego piece or provided an incorrect piece. The piece should be flat, no bumps. I ordered straight from the Lego site, so this is another set that has missing piece/given wrong piece from my overall order. So it was a disappointment. The quality control is really lacking. They were not the same set.

Like it but not
17 January 2024

I was really excited for this build, so much so that I stopped my other build to build this set first. I like the final look but had many issues putting it together. First, unlike other reviews it is not falling apart on me. Second, I found the instructions a bit confusing. The angles of the pictures were off and made it look as if pieces fit together one way when in reality they fit a slight different way. Third, when I got to the last page and realize the picture pops out, I was excited to do this step however the picture doesn't pop out when you push the button. I briefly thought about disassembling it and seeing if I made a mistake but decided it was just going to be a display and chances are I wouldn't use the feature so why bother. Looks great but big disappointment!
5 January 2024

I was thrilled to see this set was coming to market, however I found this build to be more of a chore once building. I think Lego tried to put too many quirky building methods into this set. I build at least 25 sets a year in various skill levels, this one would have turned me off Lego completely if it were my first build. Panels very fragile on the back. Realized the "photos" would not pop out when button pushed. Took the build down to the point with the rubber bands again and it all appears to be correct. Never could get set to function correctly. This set should not have made it to production. The least enjoyable build I've done in YEARS.

Polaroid Camera is a Great Addition!
4 January 2024

This camera is so cool! I am an avid tech collector. I collect all kinds of things from computers, to video games, and more, but I also collect vintage cameras. I happen to own the original 1977 OneStep so I thought this would be so cool to display next to it in my tech room. It did not disappoint! The build experience is great and simple, and the finished product is a great display piece! My only flaw is that the picture barely gets pushed out, but it could be the way I built it. Other than that, it's great and I recommend! It's so nice to have the best-selling camera of the 1977 Christmas season in LEGO form!

SAVE YOUR TIME & MONEY
15 October 2024

I have never written an online review before but after making this Lego I had to. This was the most mind numbing , pointless, most frustrating build I have ever done. I have done countless sets and this takes the cake for being the worst ever! I’m still debating throwing this off the wall. Mechanics don’t work and shoot the photo out , when I manually tried to the photo slot was too tight to get the photo out and it felt like every other piece was held on by 1 stud and ridiculously flimsy. This set has no function other to sit there and collect dust, might not even get to the chance to collect dust might just spike it off the ground! Please save your time and money .

[Rewarded Review] Incredibly difficult, but totally worth it!
17 February 2024

My boyfriend and I had the best time assembling it! I really value LEGO for putting all the parts in more-eco friendly packaging and make the compartment in paper packaging instead of plastic, but to the point… This Polaroid is fantastic! I would totally buy it again for a friend as a present. We have collection of helmets from LEGO, but this was I think most fun to assemble. It was difficult, not gonna lie, but in this piece even the button works and the camera is giving you photos. Really really great piece of LEGO blocks and I would totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys this kind of entertainment .
