I have built other technic sets; most notably the Bugatti which is similar to this one. The difficulty of the sets match up well but the Lamborghini does alter the steps so that the first couple of boxes are geared towards making the more challenging components where mistakes will most likely occur. This is helpful so that a rebuild can be done early on if a mistake is made. The shear engineering genius can be appreciated by how challenging it is to take apart. It took me equally as long to dismantle the first two boxes as it did to put it together in the first place. At times, I was at a loss at how to actually separate the pieces because there are so many failsafes put into place throughout the design process. This truly transforms from 3696 pieces to one Lamborghini which is impressive. Many of the cheaper sets I have build do not make this transition but the Lamborghini manages to create an intelligent gearbox system paired with a beautiful design that all works in synchronicity and harmony in a such a pleasing way that I almost wanted to keep the skeleton just the way it is. If I could afford it, I would love to own two so that I could put the skeleton next to the final product so that those that see it can marvel at its complexity and beauty simultaneously.Overall this was an amazing product and I only have 1 minor complaint. The boxes are massive. I have two kids so I do not have hours to spend at a time typically. Each box requires your full attention so I ended up completing this set when I was supposed to be sleeping. I feel as if the Bugatti separated its boxes into smaller and more manageable parts. If you open one box, be prepared to break open around 7 bags inside, have pieces scattered out, and be immersed in building for a couple hours.

That's because the set is doused in rich details only an adult can appreciate; with its well-thought out box, to the very instruction manuals themselves (there are two very thick ones). It also took me 2 days to build, but that's only because I wanted to enjoy every bit of it.This is equally true for the building experience. Every few steps, you can watch video casts by using your phone, which is with designers from both Lego and Lamborghini talking about the development of both cars, the Sian and its Lego counterpart. There are some minor mistakes in the instructions however, and given the car's complexity, it's sometimes easy to add in the wrong part. Needless to say, it's far more important this time to pay close attention to the details.The finished car is an absolute jewel. Side by side to the other two Lego Technic cars, the Bugatti and Porsche, the Sian has real presence, especially with its lime green colour and scissor doors. Functionality is perfect, everything is smooth and works as designed. I think my only grievance with that is that the rear trunk lid isn't hinged, instead you pull it out completely.Now, I hate to say this, because I do appreciate Lego's immense effort with this set, but the lime green colour inconsistency is unfortunately true. I spotted two panels with such different shades of lime that I could not put them together in the same assembly, so I had to work around that a bit. The problem isn't as severe as some people have pointed out, however on a closer look, you do see the different shades. It's not the end of the world, but I do expect Lego to officially address this as it shouldn't happen on any set, let alone one at this price point and one that relies on its exterior colour so much.Final thoughts: Despite its flaws, the Sian is easily THE best Lego Technic set I have ever owned and built, because where it has its drawbacks, it more than makes up in character and play experience. If you can stomach the steep price ($548 CAD) and the lime colour issues, I'd highly recommend picking one up, just for the experience alone.

However, there is the occasional printing error in the booklet ranging from pieces that magically appear in a step, another piece being printed backwards to how it should be installed, and some details where the a piece in the book isn't an accurate representation of the actual part (pin slots are in the wrong direction). While these shouldn't cause too much confusion it's still something that I feel shouldn't be, especially in a kit at this price point and with this level of attention put into it.Another detail, as tiny as it is, the "bag" that fits in the frunk, unlike previous super cars, doesn't have a stable base to sit on and falls over.So, this brings me to my conclusion. While the car is great overall, it feels as if these first sets were rushed out to meet the delivery date. The final quality assurance that I would expect from Lego just isn't there, and leaves it feeling more like a cheap knockoff. Given the almost 20% price premium over the Bugatti, for a set containing a similar amount of pieces, I really don't feel that it warrants it's price point.I would've preferred a scenario, similar to that of the launch of the Porsche 911 GT3RS where it was delayed to fix issues (with the packaging if I remember right) and deliver a better product in the end.Until the color issue is resolved, I would personally recommend people refrain from purchasing this set to avoid disappointment.
