Having recently purchased 71386 Toads Treasure Hunt, as the latest addition to the LEGO Super Mario collection. We were super-disappointed!We have previously been very happy with LEGO Super Mario Products - so this review is a stand-alone and by no means representative for our LEGO experiences in general.But now for this review. The LEGO Super Mario app did not work. It just went black screen on us. After reinstalling several times the issue remains and our kids disengaged entirely - I hope you ramp up your efforts on the digital / fluid play LEGO. We have previously had the app running succesfully, so it's not a compatibility issue.

Very disappointed with this purchase. It came what looked like factory sealed and when we opened it on Christmas there was a bag already opened and placed in a ziplock bag, built. This Lego is becoming hard to find so I washed all the opened pieces and kept it, but was disappointed Target didn’t catch that someone obviously returned this used. Thankful it was only one bag opened. Will be cautious ordering online now.

We bought this set for our son not realizing mario doesn’t come with it or that you really have to have that piece to get the pieces to work. Once he realized this he decided he was purchasing the required “starter set” with his bday money. The sets are so cute but I hate that lego added reliance on a device to get the instructions. We would be fine with the interactive piece and having the option to see videos of how the assembled pieces work but we like paper instructions and that’s especially what I want for my son. Plus it adds a layer of unfair exclusivity to the toys. I also don’t like that the app can’t be used with children’s accounts because location services are required. There are plenty of sections to build and lots to interact with including two moving platforms. The set itself is great, however parents be warned, the entire LEGO Super Mario series does NOT include printed paper instructions. You must have access to internet or a smart device in order to download their app and access the instructions. So if your internet access is spotty, you don’t have an iPad, or you find that the incorporation of an iPad (which ends up capturing their attention instead) defeats the purpose of your child playing with LEGOs, then you should opt for a different LEGO series. Especially since every time it breaks, your child will be nagging for your phone or a device to reassemble.
Bought this for our son, not realizing that it requires an Internet connected device to be able to access the instructions. We went to the library (where I’m writing this review) to see if we could access the instructions online and print them out, but in order to get access to the instructions you need to be able to install an “app”. This is a very elitist toy that is excluding the 20 million Americans who don’t have an internet connected device. We unfortunately have to return it because there is no way that we’ve been able to find that we can actually use this set without buying a cell phone or tablet and subscribing to a monthly fee that we could never afford.

Where do I start, I honestly don't know who had more fun my little girl or myself. Having being one of my childhood happy memories I was so excited to create my Mario world, fortunately so was my little one so I didn't feel out of place. It was a little tricky for my little one to do on her own however team work makes the dream work as they say. The interactive characters really brings the set to life. I love how it connects to the app as it keeps it relevant to the times we are living in. We love the weekly challenges. We also love the idea of adding to our set. The quality is as you would expect from lego only fault I can give there is, it hurts a lot when you step on it. Hours of fun and it still keeps on giving its lego mario time!

This set is the perfect partnership between Lego and Nintendo.My children are both huge fans of super Mario and LEGO so this is a perfect collab!Toads treasure hunt is a great set my kids have had so much fun building they're very own real life supermario course, the treasure hunt itself is brill, defeating enemies whilst working they're way around to collect the treasure!We've had no problems with it though instructions are digital so took a little while to construct.Overall a great LEGO addition and we look forward to expanding our courses!
