Ordering was easy on a well thought out website, the model kit arrived within a matter of days, fully intact and expertly packaged. Thoroughly enjoyed making the rocket (which is huge) and, thanks to the fabulous detailing, looks amazing when displayed next to my Lego Space Station. The only issue is that I can’t decide what to go for next - the Space Shuttle or the Eagle Moon Lander? Maybe both if my wife allows!

Always was hoping lego would bring back this set. As soon as I saw this set on Amazon, I knew I had to get it.Assembling this set was straight forward with the included build instructions (Which also doubles up as a collectible, since the beginning has a brief history of the Apollo program, the Saturn V and a typical Apollo mission profile). Some parts were challenging, but nothing a little help from my local lego store couldn't solve.Lego's attention to detail on the Saturn V is absolutely superb. They managed to capture the lego version of the Saturn V just as the real Saturn V was. According to unconfirmed sources, the lego model of the Saturn V is 1:110 scale. If you don't have the room to display it vertically, you can display it horizontally with the included horizontal stands. All in all I really enjoyed building the Saturn V and can now enjoy the model that sits in my room.

I bought this for several reasons, but the most important reason was that it was a challenging activity for my three year old son and I to share. As he was only 3 at the time, we worked on it sparingly on weekends over about 4-5 weeks in 30-60 minute sessions. The instructions are clear and the package design made it easy to keep parts separate so my son didn't get too distracted (or overwhelmed). The instruction book is very nice, with some history at the start which was very welcome. It's quite a technical build, so I did most of it, but my son had a good go at the easier parts. Many parts of the rocket exterior are made in repetitive steps, so I would do one, and setup a production line of sorts for him to copy. He enjoyed making random things with the parts ... MoreI bought this for several reasons, but the most important reason was that it was a challenging activity for my three year old son and I to share. Many parts of the rocket exterior are made in repetitive steps, so I would do one, and setup a production line of sorts for him to copy. He enjoyed making random things with the parts while I figured out how to get them together properly - some parts are far too fiddly for a toddler. Once built, it's quite tall (100cm) and heavy, and I wouldn't call it a toy, as the detachable stages may separate if you are rough, causing an Apollo 13 moment. It comes with a few stands so you can display it horizontally, but it stands vertically just fine too. The level of detail on the interior was decent, however it is not visible unless you drop it or deliberately dismantle parts to show inside the rockets. The price was great, only $160 for a 1,969 part lego set was an easy choice financially, as some lego sets (particularly space-based ones) are very expensive. I'm a fan of space and exploring, so having something like this was an easy choice, given I am not an adult lego-builder or own other models/kits generally. It's also an iconic part of human history, and building it together and having it on display is a reminder of what we are capable of achieving.

This is my first Lego build as an adult. I’m slightly obsessed with NASA, specifically the Mercury through Apollo era, so I have been eying this set for a while now. This was actually a gift from my brother for Christmas. The set comes with a really nice instruction book with some info about the Apollo program and easy to follow instructions throughout. Having not been very familiar with Lego builds I found this set to be easy to put together and really enjoyable. I also really liked how the build was in stages, with each stage having its own bag, which really cuts down on clutter in the build area. The finished model looks awesome (it’s really large) and love the little astronaut figures which looks to be to scale. Also how cool is the piece count-1969.
I bought this with some spare money I was saving up for Lego, and I do not regret my decision. The build I rushed slightly, and it didn't effect the model's look, but I finished it rather quickly and I would have preferred to build it for a bit longer. Anyways, back to the review. It is about a metre long, and it looks stunning. I have it laying on a shelf and it draws the eye. As a massive fan of the Apollo missions, I jumped at the opportunity to get this. It delivers what it looks like in the product photos, and the box is a rather large one. Price per piece is outstanding, let alone the stunning model you get for it.The mini lander and pod are also a great addition, and the stands included are incredibly useful, and it is what I use to display this set.I ... MoreI bought this with some spare money I was saving up for Lego, and I do not regret my decision. If you are interested in getting this. GET IT. You won't regret it.
I was very excited for this set but waited a while and convinced myself I didn't need it only to be surprised with it for Christmas. This is astounding! The level of detail, the intricacy of design, how it all comes together is just incredible. I cannot think of another set in this price range that comes remotely close to the care and attention to detail put into this set. There is a lot here and the assembly is very methodical. Unless you are very attentive to details you will almost certainly need to do some backtracking and need the brick tool it comes with. I've completed the bottom stage so far and had to backtrack a few times, most crucially the shrouds for the engines which need to be folded in before you add the base for the fins. The instructions are meticulous and precise but do leave you to assume radial symmetry for placement of the outer portions. Some of the longer portions of the outside require some dexterity and care to get firmly in place so patience is definitely required. I can't imagine any set even at twice the price matching the satisfaction of completing this one if you love space/rockets.Probably the best value for a LEGO set you will ever find.
As the title says, this was the first Lego I have constructed since I was 15 or 16 (I am now 34) and I could not be more pleased and happy. I am a huge Apollo and aviation fan and this was perfect to get back into Lego. What can I say, everything about this was great, the box, the information in the manual, the way the pieces are divided into stages and the model itself is breathtaking. The designers are evidently huge aviation enthusiasts and their attention to detail shows in the many stages of the model, the way it comes apart, the scaling and the finish.I would say that this was a fairly straightforward build and probably could be completed by most in a weekend but I strung it out over a few weeks because I enjoyed it so much and took it slowly. The completed rocket is huge and I have to think carefully about where it can be displayed to do it justice. All in all, 10/10 Lego, you have rekindled many happy memories for me and created some new ones, I sense an expensive new hobby developing...
I thought about buying this set for years until Lego quit producing it and I thought that was that. It was a great surprise to discover that this was back in stock so I didn't hesitate so much this time and bought it for myself almost instantly. It was a satisfying build as always with bigger Lego sets, but even after finishing this I still have some questions about some parts of its instructions. I wrote about this to the customer service, but I didn't get a reply, so I just mention this here again: what is depicted on page 94 (instruction No. 156), seems to be unachievable since there just isn't space for a brick combination placement like this. Maybe Lego can review that part of the instructions? That step is also the one thing that made me put this set on hold ... MoreI thought about buying this set for years until Lego quit producing it and I thought that was that. Maybe Lego can review that part of the instructions? That step is also the one thing that made me put this set on hold for almost 3 weeks, because due this I encountered problems with instruction No. 236 and 237 on pages 130 and 131, respectively. Sure, I found out that had missed a brick in each of these brick combinations and was trying to place them in a wrong way at first, but even after correcting it, I still am not completely satisfied with the result of the relevant part of the set. Doesn't look as neat and flush with the surface as it should be.Then again, anything isn't loose and it is a great set for displaying. Its length is crazy impressive.
I was thrilled when The Lego Group decided to reissue this set as I was really disappointed that I had come back to Lego too late to get it. It had been on my "want list" for a while and in the end I decided just to take the plunge and get it. I hadn't realised that it was not just the Saturn V rocket model but also included a small Lunar Landing Craft and the Landing Capsule which are nice little builds in their own right. The rocket itself uses some build techniques that were new to me and highly effective. I was worried in the early stages as it does look as though the exterior is made from tall curved pieces but these are merely internal structure and the outside uses tiling to create the heat panel effect. ALL of the detailing is via pre-printed bricks so NO stickers which is definitely a bonus.Build Time on this was extended because I got over confident and did not read the instructions properly so had issues connecting Stage Two in to Stage One and it took me a while to realise I had a 1x4 out of place which was why they would not connect. The connections are really secure and yet allow you to break the rocket apart easily should you wish to display it in stages rather than one huge rocket. When I say huge, I mean HUGE. Yes, the decription tells you it is just under 39.5 inches tall but somehow until you have built it the true size just doesn't compute. There are 3 "braces" included in the build so you can display it on it's side - good job too as that is pretty my only option at the moment. As a final touch can we just talk about the piece count? 1969 - just how cool a detail is that!Number Of Pieces: 1969Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.06Build Time: 5.5 Hours
Man! When I got this kit 2 years ago it reignited my passion for LEGO. As a parent of a 5 year old I have been pretty nostalgic lately and when I saw this Saturn V set online I had to have it. And I’m so glad I got it. It’s an amazing build. Challenging and looks Sooooo Awesome! Im a big Apollo program fan and to have this proudly displayed in my home is wonderful. The fact it comes apart in the proper stages and houses the lunar module within it is amazing. Not only is it a great (if not one of the greatest) models of a Saturn V, it’s also a wonderful teaching tool to show how each stage worked to propel the astronauts to the moon. When I saw that this was re-released I had zero hesitation to get another one to save for the future. It’s that great a set. And I’m ... MoreMan!
