This set is truly magnificent! It carries a lot of potential and deliveries it! From first glance, the asylum has amazing details, textures, etc. This build was very fun and came with a whopping 12 minifigures! The part per brick piece ratio is fair and not overpriced at all. The minifigures in the set are amazing, with exclusive Aaron Cash, Harleen Quinzel, Two-Face, and Barbra Gordon! Lego didn't disappoint at all! By far, this is truly the best Arkham Asylum reiteration! The features and details are magnificent, with many great brick details, and "snow" effects. The set was a fun build and I'm glad to have it i my collection! :D#legobatmanmovie

The title says it all. Once you are done with the central section, the rest of the build is extremely dull. One of my favorite things about Lego sets are all the little details and fun things they do with each set. The only truly fun thing about this set is the body scanner, which was extremely neat! They could have done more, since Arkham is definitely a place where the criminals escape frequently. Add some secret tunnels, or anything to make it more interesting. The two sides are perfectly symmetrical, so once one side is completed, the other side is a piece of cake. The tower is only half of a tower. The interior sections include a cafeteria (not a real space, just a cart with food and trays), a phone/visitor area, a lab, and a laundry room. That's it. The cells are extremely small, and unless you have small hands, it's hard to get the figures in them. Each cell is designed for one of the included mini figures. The Joker figure isn't much different than the figure that can be purchased separately.Overall, a potentially good set wasted.

As a Lego professional builder, I found it this set lacked quality bricks, proper design, and may have been rushed. The first thing that I noticed was the brick quality in bag 2 and 3, and it carried through to all the bags. I purchased the set to do a diorama at a movie theater by request, the set ended up getting a complete redesign and color change to dark red because the brown bricks were of such poor quality. Also the playability of the set I felt was rushed and could have been done much nicer. The best feature of this set was the mini figures. The lack of detailed sections was disappointing. The one build section that was close to being up to par with a set this big to me was the laundry area, that was the nicest part of this build. This set should have been the best of the series, but I think the penguins car was the most impressive as far as build technic goes. Even with redesigning and switching colored, it only took 4 hours to build.

I had seen this online and at stores but hadn't looked at it in depth to see what it really looked like, I have the two previous Arkham Assylums and I wasn't interested in it just yet. Well that changed when I took my son to see the new LEGO Batman movie. In the movie, I was immediately interested in the possibility of the inside of the asylum to look remotely similar to that in the movie. But after putting it together it's nothing like the movie. They totally missed the opportunity to replicate the movie's interior design with the jail cells along a wall, instead you get two disjointed cells on each detachable side building. LEGO could have made a jail cell for each character they included, dump the cop car.For $150 the playability is significantly underwhelming. The "X-ray" machine doesn't really have much movement, is impossible to actually play with due to limited space. The cop car is out of place and doesn't add anything to the set. I'd argue that it even takes away from the set, because it's so out of place. The rest of the set is too tiny too cramped and too flimsy to play with. Good luck getting the food into the cafeteria buffet. One thing I did like is the large quantity of characters included. Thank you LEGO.
Despite what some of the negative reviews here say this is actually a very cool set. My daughter and nephew spend hours playing with it and the detail of the set is quite good. In response to the negative feedback on the set, sometimes the older fans forget that most of these sets are intended for children. As far as a child is concerned there are lots of play opportunities and my personal favorite is the selection of characters/ Minifigures. The kids took turns building which lasted about half the day and they had a great time with it. Why an "expert" builder would bash a children's set is beyond me. Great job on a great set, Lego!!
Ok, so great set, but the downside for me is..... WHY NOT ACTUAL HARLEY QUINN!!!! My favorite character, and you put in Harleen Quinzel instead! I get that this is the only set she's in, but I was seriously hoping that Harley, and not Harleen would be in this set! And I extremely dislike having to feel through the minifig bags to find Harley. Complete waste of time, because that particular store didn't have her. Anyhow, love all the other minifigures, but it would be nice if they weren't wearing jumpsuits, like one of the other reviews said. Also like how it comes with the little food pieces such as the watermelon and donut. Details are what makes a set great, and although not as detailed as the Friend's Theme Park for example, it is still very enjoyable. And since this cost almost all my money that I'm willing to spend on legos, I won't be buying any other sets from the movie, but they might get a visit from Jestro and the Nexo Knights. Maybe Joker could give Jestro a few tips on actually being "funny" in his own evil way.
I purchased this set back in 2017 and have recently reconstructed it (along with all my other Arkham Asylum sets) and honestly I love this set. The exterior prison-like design mixed with Arkham’s traditional gothic architecture is achieved using some clever part selection and although the snow doesn’t appear in the movie I think it’s the perfect seasonal setting for this building! The interior is loaded with different cells and rooms that’ll make it easy to piece together a custom storyline for anyone with the slightest bit of imagination. The minifig selection is perfect (with the nod to the hook handed character of Cash) and the car is one of the best looking Lego cars I’ve built to date. The only complaint I’d have is the choice to not include Arkham’s signature ... MoreI purchased this set back in 2017 and have recently reconstructed it (along with all my other Arkham Asylum sets) and honestly I love this set. Hopefully we get to see more iterations of the Asylum in the future because each one has been wonderful! Well done designers!
I was disappointed with this set. It seems very bland and almost rushed. There wasn't much detail and the play experience isn't the best. Everything is so tight to get too. The telephone booth area is too tight to get to so that is useless. And there are less cells then there are "bad guys". The mini figures were great. Best part of the set. However, the brown bricks are not the "Lego Quality" we are used too. This set was a missed opportunity. The watch tower/basketball hoop seems like they needed "something else" so they slapped that together. It looks odd with the building. Plus there wasn't a ball added, which would have been a nice touch for the play experience.
Probably the best Arkham yet and here's why; The previous two sets have, although, been big this one towers over them both with a vast array of interesting building designs, realistic cells and a ton of detail. This doesn't mean I don't have problems with it though, I cant understand why the building is covered in snow, however it may play a part in the movie, since it hasn't been released yet, so for now, I will give it a pass. My main problem with this set is the fact that the villains don't have their full costumes on and instead wear Arkham jumpsuits. At least one of them could have wore their proper outfit. On the whole though the minifigures are very good with exclusive versions of Robin and Barbara Gordon. Every time an Arkham Asylum set is released, it is a vast improvement over the previous model. We are given more interesting character designs, playability options and detailed points of interest. This set is no exception, so perhaps the title of the review should be, "The best Lego Arkham Asylum ever designed. . .until the next one." The variety of characters and attention to small details is what first caught my eye and the opportunity to own a Billy Dee Williams inspired Two-Face Mini-Fig sealed the deal. My only complaint is that the rest of the LEGO Batman Movie line featured some very old and obscure villains (Crazy Quilt, Egg Head, Condiment King, et cetera) and it would have been nice to see at least one inmate like that included with the set.
