For many years now I have been wanting to buy a “high end” binocular, after a friend had let me use his Swarovski binoculars for a little while. I researched a few different binoculars made by Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss. It took me a couple of days to get used to using my new Leicas, but clarity of what I saw using them - a very sharp image across the entire field of view - was something I have wanted in a binocular. I am able to see birds a lot better now at the same distance compared to my Vortex binoculars. The focusing is buttery smooth.

First of all I want to say, calling Cody Nelson is worth the time and money you're going to spend. I had really no idea where to start, other than a price range, and his advice was invaluable in finding the right optic for me. Now, this is an absolutely stellar set of glass, after trying out zeiss, leupold, vortex, and others, I was debating between the conquest HD, the BX5, and these. When it came down to it, the sharp clarity of these and the way that they focus, just put them ahead for me. It comes down to the details of how your eyes work, and how the glass feels in your hands. These just couldn't fit better for me, the edge to edge clarity is absolutely amazing out to as far as you'd want to reasonably use 10x binos, and beyond that too, but for hunting ... MoreFirst of all I want to say, calling Cody Nelson is worth the time and money you're going to spend. All of the glass on here is great, you just really need to try them out to see what works for you.

Crisp and Clear! These are excellent binoculars that come with a decent carrying case. I thoroughly enjoy them for wildlife viewing whether hiking or touring the national parks! They’re compact and easy to adjust. My only complaint is that the diopter doesn’t click into place and is easily moved when the bins are put back into the carrying case. They’re nicely compact too, which makes them easy to take hiking. Very happy with this purchase.

Great all-round glasses // Leica Trinovid 10x42
2 September 2017

The Leica Trinovid is well balanced and presents a clear and bright image. I compared this binocular with the Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 and the Swarovski SLC 10x42 and found the Leica Trinovid to be the best fit for me. Since all three glasses have an excellent image quality, the main reasons for my selection are mostly personal preference. Pros: 1.) The main difference, in my opinion, is the focus wheel of the Leica. The wheel is very smooth and has out of the three the highest residence. The combination of smoothness and higher uniform resistance allows very precise and nuanced focusing. The Conquest HD's wheel turns lighter in comparison, though it is equally smooth and uniform. Surprisingly, the SLC's wheel did not turn smooth and uniform at all and has a very ... MoreThe Leica Trinovid is well balanced and presents a clear and bright image. The combination of smoothness and higher uniform resistance allows very precise and nuanced focusing. The Conquest HD's wheel turns lighter in comparison, though it is equally smooth and uniform. Surprisingly, the SLC's wheel did not turn smooth and uniform at all and has a very cheap feeling to it. Both the 8x42 and 10x42 SLC demo glasses had this issue and therefor lost my interest. 2.) A more personal preference, are the Leica's eye cups. They are in comparison to the Conquest HD smaller and firmer and fit better against my eyes. 3.) The Trinovid is the smallest and lightest out of the three. The glass weighs 745g without accessories and 851g with lens covers and strap. I was not able to weigh the other two. Cons 1.) The carrying bag Leica includes is not usable on a daily basis. If it is important to you to have a classic bag, you should check it out before you buy it. I didn't care that much and may buy the bag that comes with the Noctivid. 2.) I wish Leica would make Winged Eyecups for the Trinovid as they do for the Noctivid. Until they do, however, I bought Swarovski's Winged Eyecup/Rainguard. They fit perfectly, see attached image. Conclusion: Great all-round glasses that is equal to the Conquest HD and even comparable to the $800.00 more expensive Swarovski SLC.

Leica Trinovid HD

These are fantastic binoculars from an Alpha company. I tried several binos in this price range including Zeiss Conquest HD, Meopta Meostar, Nikon HG and Vortex Razor. While the Leica do not win in all categories I feel they are the best balanced performance. Few notes which I could not find online about these during my research. The eye cups are removable, a feature I really enjoy for cleaning purposes. Focus wheel is exceptional, just enough resistance and does not over focus. Diopter ring is not locking but stays put without issue, does have a reference mark so you can remember what your settings are. Lens coating are some of the best in the business. Overall I highly recommend these binos, I feel the Leica Trinovid does not get the recognition it deserves in ... MoreThese are fantastic binoculars from an Alpha company. New-Style Case Now Included
29 August 2024

An FYI, I just today (8/29/2024) took delivery of a new unit from B&H. Box reflects production in April, 2024.The included case is a much nicer black canvas-like material with the latch-opening top, similar to but obviously larger than what’s included with the 10x25 BCA Trinovid. A positive upgrade over the brown-ish/tan neoprene zip case shown in so many reviews of this model.Just a gorgeous binocular itself too, I’ll add.

Performance above it's price tag.

Amazing glass for the price. The way it brings in light and makes color pop is what pushed me over the top and sold me on these binoculars compared to others in the price range. I also have very narrow set eyes - aka short IPD - and needed binoculars that were more comfortable to my face and nose bridge and I found these very comfortable and gave me the ability to stay on these binos longer because I now have more comfort than before. I recently took these on a sight seeing trip to Yellowstone and was picking up bighorn sheep and mountain goats that tour guides weren't finding with their clients.

Very nice at $1000

The Trinovid is a great choice for anyone who doesn't want to take out a second mortgage for a quality pair of binoculars. They are sharp, light and comfortable to use. The eyecups are perfect in every way and fit my eyes just right. The focus wheel is smooth as silk...my favorite out of all my binoculars. The rubber armoring is great as well. The colors are good...a little bit on the warm side. CA is ok, low in the center, but high at the edges. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with them at this price point. I have and really like the Zeiss Conquest as well, but prefer the Trinovid due to the ergonomics

[Rewarded Review] Better than reviews described
18 June 2021

I have owned Leica binoculars for over 30 years. I have older selection of 50mm Leicas but bought these 10X42 for more compact and lightweight use. These new 10X42 Trinovid HD binoculars are the 'entry level' from Leica. BUT don't be fooled. Their optics are super impressive, excellent clarity, superb color rendition with remarkable level of contrast. They are tack sharp right to the edge of the field and curvature is barely apparent. Chromatic aberration (color fringing) is virtually absent. For 'only' $1000. Leica delivers stunning performing binoculars that favorable compare with binoculars costing over twice as much. These HD's are highly recommended.

[Rewarded Review] I love my new binos!
7 May 2020

I had to replace my trusty and extremely well used Vortex Viper 10x42 binos and wanted to upgrade. Enter the Leica Trinovid HDs. The greatest improvement is in the clarity and brightness in low light. I am an avid birder who lives in the forest so I am frequently birding under these conditions. The glasses are very comfortable in the hand and they feel nice and solid, but not heavy. I have a small face and they fit my eye distance with room to go smaller. The focus wheel is smooth and responsive but doesn't feel loose. I really can't say anything negative about these glasses. I think that they are a great value for someone who wants to upgrade but is on a budget.
